1 I n Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a manner that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.

Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed.

2 B ut the Jews who disbelieved stirred up the minds of the Gentiles and embittered them against the brethren.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren.

3 T herefore they spent a long time there speaking boldly with reliance upon the Lord, who was testifying to the word of His grace, granting that signs and wonders be done by their hands.

Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

4 B ut the people of the city were divided; and some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

But the multitude of the city was divided: part sided with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

8 A t Lystra a man was sitting who had no strength in his feet, lame from his mother’s womb, who had never walked.

And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked.

9 T his man was listening to Paul as he spoke, who, when he had fixed his gaze on him and had seen that he had faith to be made well,

This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed,

10 s aid with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he leaped up and began to walk.

said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked.

11 W hen the crowds saw what Paul had done, they raised their voice, saying in the Lycaonian language, “ The gods have become like men and have come down to us.”

Now when the people saw what Paul had done, they raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”

12 A nd they began calling Barnabas, Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.

And Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.

13 T he priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and wanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds.

Then the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, intending to sacrifice with the multitudes.

But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, they tore their clothes and ran in among the multitude, crying out

15 a nd saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We are also men of the same nature as you, and preach the gospel to you that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,

16 I n the generations gone by He permitted all the nations to go their own ways;

who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 a nd yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”

Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

18 E ven saying these things, with difficulty they restrained the crowds from offering sacrifice to them.

And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them. Stoning, Escape to Derbe

19 B ut Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having won over the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.

However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. Strengthening the Converts

21 A fter they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,

And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

And after they had passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

25 W hen they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

Now when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

26 F rom there they sailed to Antioch, from which they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had accomplished.

From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had completed.

27 W hen they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to report all things that God had done with them and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
