1 F or the divisions of the gatekeepers there were of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.

2 M eshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,

3 E lam the fifth, Johanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.

6 A lso to his son Shemaiah sons were born who ruled over the house of their father, for they were mighty men of valor.

7 T he sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad, whose brothers, Elihu and Semachiah, were valiant men.

8 A ll these were of the sons of Obed-edom; they and their sons and their relatives were able men with strength for the service, 62 from Obed-edom.

All these were of the sons of Obed-Edom, they and their sons and their brethren, able men with strength for the work: sixty-two of Obed-Edom.

9 M eshelemiah had sons and relatives, 18 valiant men.

And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, eighteen able men.

10 A lso Hosah, one of the sons of Merari had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father made him first),

11 H ilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth; all the sons and relatives of Hosah were 13.

12 T o these divisions of the gatekeepers, the chief men, were given duties like their relatives to minister in the house of the Lord.

Among these were the divisions of the gatekeepers, among the chief men, having duties just like their brethren, to serve in the house of the Lord.

13 T hey cast lots, the small and the great alike, according to their fathers’ households, for every gate.

And they cast lots for each gate, the small as well as the great, according to their father’s house.

14 T he lot to the east fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a counselor with insight, and his lot came out to the north.

The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the North Gate;

15 F or Obed-edom it fell to the south, and to his sons went the storehouse.

16 F or Shuppim and Hosah it was to the west, by the gate of Shallecheth, on the ascending highway. Guard corresponded to guard.

To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came out for the West Gate, with the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway—watchman opposite watchman.

17 O n the east there were six Levites, on the north four daily, on the south four daily, and at the storehouse two by two.

19 T hese were the divisions of the gatekeepers of the sons of Korah and of the sons of Merari. Keepers of the Treasure

These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Korah and among the sons of Merari. The Treasuries and Other Duties

20 T he Levites, their relatives, had charge of the treasures of the house of God and of the treasures of the dedicated gifts.

Of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasuries of the house of God and over the treasuries of the dedicated things.

21 T he sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, namely, the Jehielites, were the heads of the fathers’ households, belonging to Ladan the Gershonite.

The sons of Laadan, the descendants of the Gershonites of Laadan, heads of their fathers’ houses, of Laadan the Gershonite: Jehieli.

22 T he sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, had charge of the treasures of the house of the Lord.

The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, were over the treasuries of the house of the Lord.

23 A s for the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites,

Of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites:

24 S hebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was officer over the treasures.

Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was overseer of the treasuries.

25 H is relatives by Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son and Shelomoth his son.

And his brethren by Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son.

26 T his Shelomoth and his relatives had charge of all the treasures of the dedicated gifts which King David and the heads of the fathers’ households, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and the commanders of the army, had dedicated.

This Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasuries of the dedicated things which King David and the heads of fathers’ houses, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the army, had dedicated.

27 T hey dedicated part of the spoil won in battles to repair the house of the Lord.

Some of the spoils won in battles they dedicated to maintain the house of the Lord.

28 A nd all that Samuel the seer had dedicated and Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah, everyone who had dedicated anything, all of this was in the care of Shelomoth and his relatives. Outside Duties

And all that Samuel the seer, Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated, every dedicated thing, was under the hand of Shelomith and his brethren.

29 A s for the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were assigned to outside duties for Israel, as officers and judges.

Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons performed duties as officials and judges over Israel outside Jerusalem.

30 A s for the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his relatives, 1, 700 capable men, had charge of the affairs of Israel west of the Jordan, for all the work of the Lord and the service of the king.

Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, one thousand seven hundred able men, had the oversight of Israel on the west side of the Jordan for all the business of the Lord, and in the service of the king.

31 A s for the Hebronites, Jerijah the chief (these Hebronites were investigated according to their genealogies and fathers’ households, in the fortieth year of David’s reign, and men of outstanding capability were found among them at Jazer of Gilead)

Among the Hebronites, Jerijah was head of the Hebronites according to his genealogy of the fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought, and there were found among them capable men at Jazer of Gilead.

32 a nd his relatives, capable men, were 2, 700 in number, heads of fathers’ households. And King David made them overseers of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of the Manassites concerning all the affairs of God and of the king.

And his brethren were two thousand seven hundred able men, heads of fathers’ houses, whom King David made officials over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God and the affairs of the king.
