1 Д умите на Якеевия син Агур, Массовия цар, които той изговори: Изморих се, о, Боже, изморих се, о, Боже, изтощих се;

The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,

2 з ащото съм по-несмислен от който и да било човек и нямам човешки разум;

Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.

3 п онеже не научих мъдрост, нито имам знание за Всесветия.

I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.

4 К ой се е възкачил на небето и слязъл? Кой е събрал вятъра в шепите си? Кой е вързал водите в дрехата си? Кой е утвърдил всички земни краища? Как е името Му и как е името на сина Му? Кажи, ако го знаеш!

Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?

5 В сяко слово Божие е опитано: Той е щит на тези, които уповават на Него.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

6 Н е прибавяй към Неговите думи, да не би да те изобличи и се окажеш лъжец.

Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

7 Д ве неща моля от Тебе, не ми ги отказвай, преди да умра:

Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:

8 О тдалечи от мен измамата и лъжата; не ми давай нито сиромашия, нито богатство; храни ме с хляба, който ми се пада;

remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

9 д а не би да се преситя и се отрека от Теб, и да кажа: Кой е Господ? Или да не би да осиромашея, за да открадна и да употребя скверно името на моя Бог.

lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord ? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

10 Н е одумвай слуга пред господаря му, да не би да те закълне и ти да се окажеш виновен.

Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.

11 И ма поколение, което кълне баща си и не благославя майка си.

There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.

12 И ма поколение, което е чисто пред своите си очи, обаче не е измито от нечистотата си.

There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

13 И ма поколение - колко високо са очите им и колко са надигнати клепачите им!

There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

14 И ма поколение, чиито зъби са мечове и челюстта му - ножове, за да изпояжда от земята сиромасите и немотните сред хората.

There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

15 П иявицата има две дъщери, които викат: Дай, дай! Три неща има, които са ненаситни, дори четири, които не казват: Стига! -

The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:

16 А дът и неплодната утроба, земята, която не се насища с вода, и огънят, който не казва: Стига.

the grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.

17 О кото, което се присмива на баща си и презира покорност към майка си, гарвани от долината ще го изкълват и орлови пилци ще го изядат.

The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

18 Т ри неща има, които са непостижими за мене, дори четири, които не разбирам:

There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:

19 с ледите на орел по въздуха, следите на змия върху канара, следите на кораб сред морето и следите на мъж при девица.

the way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.

20 Т акъв е пътят и на жена прелюбодейка - яде, бърше си устата и казва: Не съм извършила беззаконие.

Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

21 П оради три неща се тресе земята. Да! Поради четири тя не може да търпи:

For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:

22 п оради слуга, когато стане цар, и безумен, когато се насити с хляб;

for a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;

23 п оради омразна жена, когато се омъжи, и слугиня, която измества господарката си.

for an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

24 Ч етири неща има на земята, които са малки, но са извънредно мъдри:

There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

25 м равките, които не са силен народ, но лете приготвят храната си;

the ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

26 д ивите зайци, които са слаб народ, но поставят жилищата си на канара;

the conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

27 с какалците, които нямат цар, но излизат всички по дружини;

the locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

28 и гущерът, който можеш да хванеш в ръка, но пак се среща в царските палати.

the spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.

29 Т ри неща има, които вървят величествено, дори четири, които ходят с благородство:

There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:

30 л ъвът, който е най-силен от животните и не се спира пред никого;

a lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;

31 с тегнатият през корема кон; козелът; и царят, против когото не може да се въстава.

a greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.

32 А ко си постъпил безумно, като си се надигнал, или ако си намислил зло, сложи ръка на устата си.

If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.

33 З ащото както, като се бие мляко, се изважда масло, и като се блъсне носът, потича кръв, така и като се подбужда гняв, произлиза свада.

Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
