1 Г орко на кръвнишкия град; целият е пълен с лъжа и грабеж; плячката не липсва.

Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;

2 П укот на бичове се чува и шум от тропот на колела, на тичащи коне и на подскачащи колесници.

the noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.

3 К онникът се качва с лъскав меч и бляскаво копие; има и много ранени и голямо число убити, и труповете не могат да се преброят; спъват се в труповете им.

The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:

4 Т ова е поради многото блудства на привлекателната блудница, изкусна в магии, която продава народи чрез блудствата си и племена - чрез магиите си.

because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

5 Е то, Аз съм против тебе, казва Господ на Силите; ще вдигна полите ти върху лицето ти и ще покажа на народите голотата ти и на царствата - срама ти.

Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.

6 Щ е хвърля върху тебе гнусна нечистота и ще те омърся, ще те поставя като позорище.

And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.

7 В сички, които те гледат, ще бягат от теб и ще кажат: Ниневия запустя! Кой ще я оплаче? Откъде да потърся утешители за тебе? Справедливост на Божия съд

And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

8 Т и по-добра ли си от Но Амон, който лежеше между реките, окръжен от води, чието предстение беше Нил и стената му - Нилските води ?

Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?

9 Е тиопия и Египет бяха негова сила и тя беше безгранична; Фут и ливийците бяха твои помощници.

Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

10 Н о и той беше откаран, отиде в плен; младенците му също бяха смазани по кръстопътищата на всичките улици; хвърлиха жребий за почтените му мъже и всичките му големци бяха вързани с вериги.

Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

11 С ъщо и ти ще се опиеш, ще се скриеш, ще потърсиш и ти защита против неприятеля.

Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

12 В сичките ти крепости ще бъдат като смокини с първите си узрели плодове; ако се затресат, ще паднат в устата на ядещия.

All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

13 Е то, народът ти сред тебе са жени; портите на земята ти се отвориха широко за неприятелите ти; огънят изгори лостовете ти.

Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

14 И звадѝ си вода за обсадата, заякчѝ крепостите си! Влез в калта и стъпчѝ глината, поправѝ тухлената пещ.

Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.

15 Т ам ще те изгори огън; меч ще те посече, ще те изяде като гъсеница, дори и да се размножиш като гъсеница, дори и да се размножиш като скакалец.

There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.

16 ( Умножила си търговците си повече от небесните звезди.) Както скакалецът опустоши и отлетя,

Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.

17 т ака и коронясаните ти са като скакалци, които се настаняват на плетищата в студен ден, но които, като изгрее слънцето, бягат и не се познава мястото, където са били.

Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

18 П астирите ти задремват, царю асирийски, благородните лежат бездейни; народът ти се разпръсна по планините и няма кой да го събира.

Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.

19 Н яма лек за язвата ти; раната ти е люта; всички, които чуят вестта за теб, изпляскват с ръце заради тебе; защото върху кого не е падало винаги нечестието ти?

There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
