1 Н о след като царството на Ровоам се закрепи и той стана силен, изостави Господния закон, а заедно с него - и целият Израел.

And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.

2 И понеже бяха престъпили пред Господа, затова в петата година на Ровоамовото царуване египетският цар Сисак излезе против Йерусалим

And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the Lord,

3 с хиляда и двеста колесници и шестдесет хиляди конници; и народът, който дойде с него от Египет - ливийци, сукияни и етиопци, бяха безбройни.

with twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

4 И като превзе Юдовите укрепени градове, дойде до Йерусалим.

And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.

5 Т огава пророк Семая дойде при Ровоам и при Юдейските първенци, които се бяха събрали в Йерусалим поради нахлуването на Сисак и им каза: Така казва Господ: Вие изоставихте Мене; затова и Аз изоставих вас в ръката на Сисак.

Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the Lord, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

6 П оради това Израелевите първенци и царят се смириха и казаха: Праведен е Господ.

Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The Lord is righteous.

7 А когато Господ видя, че се смириха, Господнето слово дойде към Семая и каза: Те се смириха; няма да ги изтребя, а ще им дам някакво избавление; и гневът Ми няма да се излее върху Йерусалим чрез Сисак.

And when the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

8 О баче те ще му станат слуги, за да познаят какво е да слугуват на Мен и какво да слугуват на земните царства.

Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

9 И така, египетският цар Сисак излезе против Йерусалим и отнесе съкровищата на Господния дом и съкровищата на царската къща; отнесе всичко, включително златните щитове, които Соломон беше направил.

So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

10 ( А вместо тях цар Ровоам направи медни щитове и ги предаде в ръцете на началниците на телохранителите, които пазеха вратата на царската къща.

Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king’s house.

11 И когато царят влизаше в Господния дом, телохранителите идваха и ги вземаха; после пак ги занасяха в залата на телохранителите.)

And when the king entered into the house of the Lord, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.

12 С лед като Ровоам се смири, гневът на Господа се отвърна от него, за да не го погуби съвсем; а и в Юдея се намираше някакво добро.

And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.

13 Т ака цар Ровоам се закрепи в Йерусалим и царуваше; защото, когато се възцари, Ровоам беше на възраст четиридесет и една години; и царува̀ седемнадесет години в Йерусалим - града, който Господ беше избрал измежду всички Израелеви племена, за да настани името Си там. Името на майка му, амонката, беше Наама.

So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

14 А той направи зло, като не оправи сърцето си да търси Господа.

And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the Lord.

15 А делата на Ровоам, първите и последните, не са ли записани в книгите на пророк Семая и на ясновидеца Идо за архивите? А между Ровоам и Еровоам имаше постоянни войни.

Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

16 И Ровоам заспа с бащите си и беше погребан в Давидовия град. А вместо него се възцари синът му Авия.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
