1 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, in the plains of Moab, by Jordan, Jericho, saying,

И сказал Господь Моисею на равнинах Моавитских у Иордана против Иерихона, говоря:

2 ` Command the sons of Israel, and they have given to the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to inhabit; also a suburb for the cities round about them ye do give to the Levites.

повели сынам Израилевым, чтоб они из уделов владения своего дали левитам города для жительства, и поля при городах со всех сторон дайте левитам:

3 A nd the cities have been to them to inhabit, and their suburbs are for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

города будут им для жительства, а поля будут для скота их и для имения их и для всех житейских потребностей их;

4 ` And the suburbs of the cities which ye give to the Levites, from the wall of the city and without, a thousand cubits round about.

поля при городах, которые вы должны дать левитам, от стены города на тысячи локтей, во все стороны;

5 A nd ye have measured from the outside of the city, the east quarter, two thousand by the cubit, and the south quarter, two thousand by the cubit, and the west quarter, two thousand by the cubit, and the north quarter, two thousand by the cubit; and the city in the midst; this is to them the suburbs of the cities.

и отмерьте за городом к восточной стороне две тысячи локтей, и к южной стороне две тысячи локтей, и к западу две тысячи локтей, и к северной стороне две тысячи локтей, а посредине город: таковы будут у них поля при городах.

6 ` And the cities which ye give to the Levites the six cities of refuge, which ye give for the fleeing thither of the man-slayer, and besides them ye give forty and two cities;

Из городов, которые вы дадите левитам, шесть городов для убежища, в которые вы позволите убегать убийце; и сверх их дайте сорок два города:

7 a ll the cities which ye give to the Levites forty and eight cities, them and their suburbs.

всех городов, которые вы должны дать левитам, сорок восемь городов, с полями при них.

8 A nd the cities which ye give of the possession of the sons of Israel, from the many ye multiply, and from the few ye diminish; each, according to his inheritance which they inherit, doth give of his cities to the Levites.'

И когда будете давать города из владения сынов Израилевых, тогда из большего дайте более, из меньшего менее; каждое колено, смотря по уделу, какой получит, должно дать из городов своих левитам.

9 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

И сказал Господь Моисею, говоря:

10 ` Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, When ye are passing over the Jordan to the land of Canaan,

объяви сынам Израилевым и скажи им: когда вы перейдете чрез Иордан в землю Ханаанскую,

11 a nd have prepared to yourselves cities -- cities of refuge they are to you -- then fled thither hath a man-slayer, smiting a person unawares,

выберите себе города, которые были бы у вас городами для убежища, куда мог бы убежать убийца, убивший человека неумышленно;

12 a nd the cities have been to you for a refuge from the redeemer, and the man-slayer doth not die till his standing before the company for judgment.

и будут у вас города сии убежищем от мстителя, чтобы не был умерщвлен убивший, прежде нежели он предстанет пред общество на суд.

13 ` As to the cities which ye give -- six cities of refuge to you;

Городов же, которые должны вы дать, городов для убежища, должно быть у вас шесть:

14 t he three of the cities ye give beyond the Jordan, and the three of the cities ye give in the land of Canaan; cities of refuge they are.

три города дайте по эту сторону Иордана и три города дайте в земле Ханаанской; городами убежища должны быть они;

15 T o sons of Israel, and to a sojourner, and to a settler in their midst, are these six cities for a refuge, for the fleeing thither of any one smiting a person unawares.

для сынов Израилевых и для пришельца и для поселенца между вами будут сии шесть городов убежищем, чтобы убегать туда всякому, убившему человека неумышленно.

16 ` And if with an instrument of iron he hath smitten him, and he dieth, he a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.

Если кто ударит кого железным орудием так, что тот умрет, то он убийца: убийцу должно предать смерти;

17 ` And if with a stone the hand, wherewith he dieth, he hath smitten him, and he dieth, he a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.

и если кто ударит кого из руки камнем, от которого можно умереть, так что тот умрет, то он убийца: убийцу должно предать смерти;

18 ` Or with a wooden instrument the hand, wherewith he dieth, he hath smitten him, and he dieth, he a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.

или если деревянным орудием, от которого можно умереть, ударит из руки так, что тот умрет, то он убийца: убийцу должно предать смерти;

19 ` The redeemer of blood himself doth put the murderer to death; in his coming against him he doth put him to death.

мститель за кровь сам может умертвить убийцу: лишь только встретит его, сам может умертвить его;

20 ` And if in hatred he thrust him through, or hath cast at him by lying in wait, and he dieth;

если кто толкнет кого по ненависти, или с умыслом бросит на него так, что тот умрет,

21 o r in enmity he hath smitten him with his hand, and he dieth; the smiter is certainly put to death; he a murderer; the redeemer of blood doth put the murderer to death in his coming against him.

или по вражде ударит его рукою так, что тот умрет, то ударившего должно предать смерти: он убийца; мститель за кровь может умертвить убийцу, лишь только встретит его.

22 ` And if, in an instant, without enmity, he hath thrust him through, or hath cast at him any instrument, without lying in wait;

Если же он толкнет его нечаянно, без вражды, или бросит на него что-нибудь без умысла,

23 o r with any stone wherewith he dieth, without seeing, and causeth to fall upon him, and he dieth, and he not his enemy, nor seeking his evil;

или какой-нибудь камень, от которого можно умереть, не видя уронит на него так, что тот умрет, но он не был врагом его и не желал ему зла,

24 t hen have the company judged between the smiter and the redeemer of blood, by these judgments.

то общество должно рассудить между убийцею и мстителем за кровь по сим постановлениям;

25 ` And the company have delivered the man-slayer out of the hand of the redeemer of blood, and the company have caused him to turn back unto the city of his refuge, whither he hath fled, and he hath dwelt in it till the death of the chief priest, who hath been anointed with the holy oil.

и должно общество спасти убийцу от руки мстителя за кровь, и должно возвратить его общество в город убежища его, куда он убежал, чтоб он жил там до смерти великого священника, который помазан священным елеем;

26 ` And if the man-slayer at all go out the border of the city of his refuge whither he fleeth,

если же убийца выйдет за предел города убежища, в который он убежал,

27 a nd the redeemer of blood hath found him at the outside of the border of the city of his refuge, and the redeemer of blood hath slain the man-slayer, blood is not for him;

и найдет его мститель за кровь вне пределов города убежища его, и убьет убийцу сего мститель за кровь, то не будет на нем кровопролития,

28 f or in the city of his refuge he doth dwell till the death of the chief priest; and after the death of the chief priest doth the man-slayer turn back unto the city of his possession.

ибо тот должен был жить в городе убежища своего до смерти великого священника, а по смерти великого священника должен был возвратиться убийца в землю владения своего.

29 ` And these things have been to you for a statute of judgment to your generations, in all your dwellings:

Да будет это у вас постановлением законным в роды ваши, во всех жилищах ваших.

30 w hoso smiteth a person, by the mouth of witnesses doth slay the murderer; and one witness doth not testify against a person -- to die.

Если кто убьет человека, то убийцу должно убить по словам свидетелей; но одного свидетеля недостаточно, на смерть.

31 ` And ye take no atonement for the life of a murderer who condemned -- to die, for he is certainly put to death;

И не берите выкупа за душу убийцы, который повинен смерти, но его должно предать смерти;

32 a nd ye take no atonement for him to flee unto the city of his refuge, to turn back to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

и не берите выкупа за убежавшего в город убежища, чтоб ему жить в земле прежде смерти священника.

33 ` And ye profane not the land which ye in, for blood profaneth the land; as to the land, it is not pardoned for blood which is shed in it except by the blood of him who sheddeth it;

Не оскверняйте земли, на которой вы; ибо кровь оскверняет землю, и земля не иначе очищается от пролитой на ней крови, как кровью пролившего ее.

34 a nd ye defile not the land in which ye are dwelling, in the midst of which I do tabernacle, for I Jehovah do tabernacle in the midst of the sons of Israel.'

Не должно осквернять землю, на которой вы живете, среди которой обитаю Я; ибо Я Господь обитаю среди сынов Израилевых.
