Now King Solomon was king over all Israel.

These were his officials: Azariah the son of Zadok was the priest;

3 E lihoreph und Ahija, die Söhne Sisas, waren Schreiber. Josaphat, der Sohn Ahiluds, war Kanzler.

Elihoreph and Ahijah, the sons of Shisha were secretaries; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder;

4 B enaja, der Sohn Jojadas, war Feldhauptmann. Zadok und Abjathar waren Priester.

and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the army; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

5 A sarja, der Sohn Nathans, war über die Amtleute. Sabud, der Sohn Nathans, war Priester, des Königs Freund.

and Azariah the son of Nathan was over the deputies; and Zabud the son of Nathan, a priest, was the king’s friend;

6 A hisar war Hofmeister. Adoniram, der Sohn Abdas, war Rentmeister.

and Ahishar was over the household; and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the men subject to forced labor.

7 U nd Salomo hatte zwölf Amtleute über ganz Israel, die den König und sein Haus versorgten. Ein jeder hatte des Jahres eine Monat lang zu versorgen;

Solomon had twelve deputies over all Israel, who provided for the king and his household; each man had to provide for a month in the year.

8 u nd hießen also: Der Sohn Hurs auf dem Gebirge Ephraim;

These are their names: Ben-hur, in the hill country of Ephraim;

9 d er Sohn Dekers zu Makaz und zu Saalbim und zu Beth-Semes und zu Elon und Beth-Hanan;

11 d er Sohn Abinadabs über die ganze Herrschaft zu Dor, und hatte Taphath, Salomos Tochter zum Weibe;

Ben-abinadab, in all the height of Dor (Taphath the daughter of Solomon was his wife);

12 B aana, der Sohn Ahiluds, zu Thaanach und zu Megiddo und über ganz Beth-Sean, welches liegt neben Zarthan unter Jesreel, von Beth-Sean bis an Abel-Mehola, bis jenseit Jokmeams;

Baana the son of Ahilud, in Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean which is beside Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah as far as the other side of Jokmeam;

13 d er Sohn Gebers zu Ramoth in Gilead, und hatte die Flecken Jairs, des Sohnes Manasses, in Gilead und hatte die Gegend Argob, die in Basan liegt, sechzig große Städte, vermauert und mit ehernen Riegeln;

15 A himaaz in Naphthali, und der nahm auch Salomos Tochter Basmath zum Weibe;

Ahimaaz, in Naphtali (he also married Basemath the daughter of Solomon);

16 B aana, der Sohn Husais, in Asser und zu Aloth;

Baana the son of Hushai, in Asher and Bealoth;

17 J osaphat, der Sohn Paruahs, in Isaschar;

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar;

18 S imei, der Sohn Elas, in Benjamin;

Shimei the son of Ela, in Benjamin;

19 G eber, der Sohn Uris, im Lande Gilead, im Lande Sihons, des Königs der Amoriter und Ogs, des Königs von Basan (ein Amtmann war in demselben Lande).

20 J uda aber und Israel, deren war viel wie der Sand am Meer, und sie aßen und tranken und waren fröhlich.

Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand that is on the seashore in abundance; they were eating and drinking and rejoicing.

21 A lso war Salomo ein Herr über alle Königreiche, von dem Strom an bis zu der Philister Lande und bis an die Grenze Ägyptens, die ihm Geschenke zubrachten und ihm dienten sein Leben lang.

Now Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt; they brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.

22 U nd Salomo mußte täglich zur Speisung haben dreißig Kor Semmelmehl, sechzig Kor anderes Mehl,

Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty kors of fine flour and sixty kors of meal,

23 z ehn gemästete Rinder und zwanzig Weiderinder und hundert Schafe, ausgenommen Hirsche und Rehe und Gemsen und gemästetes Federvieh.

ten fat oxen, twenty pasture-fed oxen, a hundred sheep besides deer, gazelles, roebucks, and fattened fowl.

24 D enn er herrschte im ganzen Lande diesseit des Stromes, von Tiphsah bis gen Gaza, über alle Könige diesseit des Stromes, und hatte Frieden von allen seinen Untertanen umher,

For he had dominion over everything west of the River, from Tiphsah even to Gaza, over all the kings west of the River; and he had peace on all sides around about him.

25 d aß Juda und Israel sicher wohnten, ein jeglicher unter seinem Weinstock und unter seinem Feigenbaum, von Dan bis gen Beer-Seba, solange Salomo lebte.

So Judah and Israel lived in safety, every man under his vine and his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

26 U nd Salomo hatte vierzigtausend Wagenpferde und zwölftausend Reisige.

Solomon had 40, 000 stalls of horses for his chariots, and 12, 000 horsemen.

27 U nd die Amtleute versorgten den König Salomo und alles, was zum Tisch des Königs gehörte, ein jeglicher in seinem Monat, und ließen nichts fehlen.

Those deputies provided for King Solomon and all who came to King Solomon’s table, each in his month; they left nothing lacking.

28 A uch Gerste und Stroh für die Rosse und Renner brachten sie an den Ort, da er war, ein jeglicher nach seinem Befehl.

They also brought barley and straw for the horses and swift steeds to the place where it should be, each according to his charge.

29 U nd Gott gab Salomo sehr große Weisheit und Verstand und reichen Geist wie Sand, der am Ufer des Meeres liegt,

Now God gave Solomon wisdom and very great discernment and breadth of mind, like the sand that is on the seashore.

30 d aß die Weisheit Salomos größer war denn aller, die gegen Morgen wohnen, und aller Ägypter Weisheit.

Solomon’s wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the sons of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt.

31 U nd er war weiser denn alle Menschen, auch weiser denn Ethan, der Esrahiter, Heman, Chalkol und Darda, die Söhne Mahols, und war berühmt unter allen Heiden umher.

For he was wiser than all men, than Ethan the Ezrahite, Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was known in all the surrounding nations.

32 U nd er redete dreitausend Sprüche, und seine Lieder waren tausendundfünf.

He also spoke 3, 000 proverbs, and his songs were 1, 005.

33 U nd er redete von Bäumen, von der Zeder an auf dem Libanon bis an Isop, der aus der Wand wächst. Auch redete er von Vieh, von Vögeln, von Gewürm und von Fischen.

He spoke of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon even to the hyssop that grows on the wall; he spoke also of animals and birds and creeping things and fish.

34 U nd es kamen aus allen Völkern, zu hören die Weisheit Salomos, von allen Königen auf Erden, die von seiner Weisheit gehört hatten.

Men came from all peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.
