1 Z u der Zeit war Abia, der Sohn Jerobeams, krank.

At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.

2 U nd Jerobeam sprach zu seinem Weibe: Mache dich auf und verstelle dich, daß niemand merke, daß du Jerobeams Weib bist, und gehe hin gen Silo; siehe, daselbst ist der Prophet Ahia, der mit mir geredet hat, daß ich sollte König sein über dies Volk.

Jeroboam said to his wife, “Arise now, and disguise yourself so that they will not know that you are the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh; behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who spoke concerning me that I would be king over this people.

3 U nd nimm mit dir zehn Brote und Kuchen und einen Krug mit Honig und komm zu ihm, daß er dir sage, wie es dem Knaben gehen wird.

Take ten loaves with you, some cakes and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will happen to the boy.”

4 U nd das Weib Jerobeams tat also und machte sich auf und ging hin gen Silo und kam in das Haus Ahias. Ahia aber konnte nicht sehen, denn seine Augen waren starr vor Alter.

Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were dim because of his age.

5 A ber der HERR sprach zu Ahia: Siehe, das Weib Jerobeams kommt, daß sie von dir eine Sache frage um ihren Sohn; denn er ist krank. So rede nun mit ihr so und so. Da sie nun hineinkam, stellte sie sich fremd.

Now the Lord had said to Ahijah, “Behold, the wife of Jeroboam is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. You shall say thus and thus to her, for it will be when she arrives that she will pretend to be another woman.”

6 A ls aber Ahia hörte das Rauschen ihrer Füße zur Tür hineingehen, sprach er: Komm herein, du Weib Jerobeams! Warum stellst du dich so fremd? Ich bin zu dir gesandt als ein harter Bote.

When Ahijah heard the sound of her feet coming in the doorway, he said, “Come in, wife of Jeroboam, why do you pretend to be another woman? For I am sent to you with a harsh message.

7 G ehe hin und sage Jerobeam: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Ich habe dich erhoben aus dem Volk und zum Fürsten über mein Volk Israel gesetzt

Go, say to Jeroboam, ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel, “ Because I exalted you from among the people and made you leader over My people Israel,

8 u nd habe das Königreich von Davids Haus gerissen und dir gegeben. Du aber bist nicht gewesen wie mein Knecht David, der meine Gebote hielt und wandelte mir nach von ganzem Herzen, daß er tat, was mir wohl gefiel,

and tore the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it to you— yet you have not been like My servant David, who kept My commandments and who followed Me with all his heart, to do only that which was right in My sight;

9 u nd hast übel getan über alle, die vor dir gewesen sind, bist hingegangen und hast dir andere Götter gemacht und gegossene Bilder, daß du mich zum Zorn reizest, und hast mich hinter deinen Rücken geworfen.

you also have done more evil than all who were before you, and have gone and made for yourself other gods and molten images to provoke Me to anger, and have cast Me behind your back—

10 D arum siehe, ich will Unglück über das Haus Jerobeam führen und ausrotten von Jerobeam alles, was männlich ist, den Verschlossenen und Verlassenen in Israel, und will die Nachkommen des Hauses Jerobeams ausfegen, wie man Kot ausfegt, bis es ganz mit ihm aus sei.

therefore behold, I am bringing calamity on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every male person, both bond and free in Israel, and I will make a clean sweep of the house of Jeroboam, as one sweeps away dung until it is all gone.

11 W er von Jerobeam stirbt in der Stadt, den sollen die Hunde fressen; wer aber auf dem Felde stirbt, den sollen die Vögel des Himmels fressen; denn der HERR hat's geredet.

Anyone belonging to Jeroboam who dies in the city the dogs will eat. And he who dies in the field the birds of the heavens will eat; for the Lord has spoken it.”’

12 S o mache dich nun auf und gehe heim; und wenn dein Fuß zur Stadt eintritt, wird das Kind sterben.

Now you, arise, go to your house. When your feet enter the city the child will die.

13 U nd es wird ihn das ganze Israel beklagen, und werden ihn begraben; denn dieser allein von Jerobeam wird zu Grabe kommen, darum daß etwas Gutes an ihm erfunden ist vor dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, im Hause Jerobeams.

All Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for he alone of Jeroboam’s family will come to the grave, because in him something good was found toward the Lord God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

14 D er HERR aber wird sich einen König über Israel erwecken, der wird das Haus Jerobeams ausrotten an dem Tage. Und was ist's, das schon jetzt geschieht!

Moreover, the Lord will raise up for Himself a king over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam this day and from now on.

15 U nd der HERR wird Israel schlagen, gleich wie das Rohr im Wasser bewegt wird, und wird Israel ausreißen aus diesem guten Lande, daß er ihren Vätern gegeben hat, und wird sie zerstreuen jenseit des Stromes, darum daß sie ihre Ascherahbilder gemacht haben, den HERRN zu erzürnen.

“For the Lord will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and He will uproot Israel from this good land which He gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking the Lord to anger.

16 U nd er wird Israel übergeben um der Sünden willen Jerobeams, der da gesündigt hat und Israel hat sündigen gemacht.

He will give up Israel on account of the sins of Jeroboam, which he committed and with which he made Israel to sin.”

17 U nd das Weib Jerobeams machte sich auf, ging hin und kam gen Thirza. Und da sie auf die Schwelle des Hauses kam, starb der Knabe.

Then Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed and came to Tirzah. As she was entering the threshold of the house, the child died.

18 U nd sie begruben ihn und ganz Israel beklagte ihn nach dem Wort des HERRN, das er geredet hatte durch seinen Knecht Ahia, den Propheten.

All Israel buried him and mourned for him, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke through His servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 W as mehr von Jerobeam zu sagen ist, wie er gestritten und regiert hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.

Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he made war and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

20 D ie Zeit aber, die Jerobeam regierte, sind zweiundzwanzig Jahre; und er entschlief mit seinen Vätern, und sein Sohn Nadab ward König an seiner Statt.

The time that Jeroboam reigned was twenty-two years; and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place. Rehoboam Misleads Judah

21 S o war Rehabeam, der Sohn Salomos, König in Juda. Einundvierzig Jahre alt war Rehabeam, da er König ward, und regierte siebzehn Jahre zu Jerusalem, in der Stadt, die der HERR erwählt hatte aus allen Stämmen Israels, daß er seinen Namen dahin stellte. Seine Mutter hieß Naema, eine Ammonitin.

Now Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord had chosen from all the tribes of Israel to put His name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

22 U nd Juda tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, und sie reizten ihn zum Eifer mehr denn alles, das ihre Väter getan hatten mit ihren Sünden, die sie taten.

Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provoked Him to jealousy more than all that their fathers had done, with the sins which they committed.

23 D enn sie bauten auch Höhen, Säulen und Ascherahbilder auf allen hohen Hügeln und unter allen grünen Bäumen.

For they also built for themselves high places and sacred pillars and Asherim on every high hill and beneath every luxuriant tree.

24 E s waren auch Hurer im Lande; und sie taten alle Greuel der Heiden, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israel vertrieben hatte.

There were also male cult prostitutes in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord dispossessed before the sons of Israel.

25 A ber im fünften Jahr des Königs Rehabeam zog Sisak, der König in Ägypten, herauf wider Jerusalem

Now it happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak the king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem.

26 u nd nahm die Schätze aus dem Hause des HERRN und aus dem Hause des Königs und alles, was zu nehmen war, und nahm alle goldenen Schilde, die Salomo hatte lassen machen;

He took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house, and he took everything, even taking all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

27 a n deren Statt ließ der König Rehabeam eherne Schilde machen und befahl sie unter die Hand der obersten Trabanten, die die Tür hüteten am Hause des Königs.

So King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the care of the commanders of the guard who guarded the doorway of the king’s house.

28 U nd so oft der König in das Haus des HERRN ging, trugen sie die Trabanten und brachten sie wieder in der Trabanten Kammer.

Then it happened as often as the king entered the house of the Lord, that the guards would carry them and would bring them back into the guards’ room.

29 W as aber mehr von Rehabeam zu sagen ist und alles was er getan hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Juda's.

Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

30 E s war aber Krieg zwischen Rehabeam und Jerobeam ihr Leben lang.

There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

31 U nd Rehabeam entschlief mit seinen Vätern und ward begraben mit seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids. Und seine Mutter hieß Naema, eine Ammonitin. Und sein Sohn Abiam ward König an seiner Statt.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess. And Abijam his son became king in his place.
