1 B less the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

«Salmo di Davide.» Benedici, anima mia, l'Eterno, e tutto quello che è in me benedica il suo santo nome.

2 B less the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Benedici, anima mia, l'Eterno e non dimenticare alcuno dei suoi benefici.

3 w ho forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Egli perdona tutte le tue iniquità e guarisce tutte le tue infermità,

4 w ho redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

riscatta la tua vita dalla distruzione e ti corona di benignità e di compassioni;

5 w ho satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

egli sazia di beni la tua bocca e ti fa ringiovanire come l'aquila.

6 T he Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

L'Eterno opera con giustizia e difende la causa degli oppressi.

7 H e made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

Egli ha fatto conoscere a Mosè le sue vie e ai figli d'Israele le sue opere.

8 T he Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

L'Eterno è pietoso e clemente, lento all'ira e di grande benignità.

9 H e will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

Egli non contende in eterno e non serba l'ira per sempre

10 H e hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

Egli non ci tratta come meritano i nostri peccati, e non ci castiga in base alle nostre colpe.

11 F or as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

Poiché, quanto sono alti i cieli al di sopra della terra, tanto è grande la sua benignità verso quelli che lo temono.

12 A s far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Quanto è lontano il levante dal ponente, tanto ha egli allontanato da noi le nostre colpe.

13 L ike as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

Come un padre è pietoso verso i suoi figli, cosí è pietoso l'Eterno verso quelli che lo temono.

14 F or he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

Perché egli conosce la nostra natura e si ricorda che siamo polvere.

15 A s for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

I giorni dell'uomo sono come l'erba; egli fiorisce come il fiore del campo;

16 F or the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

se il vento gli passa sopra, egli non è piú e il suo luogo non lo si riconosce piú.

17 B ut the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;

Ma la benignità dell'Eterno dura d'eternità in eternità per quelli che lo temono e la sua giustizia per i figli dei figli,

18 t o such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

per quelli che osservano il suo patto e si ricordano dei suoi comandamenti per metterli in pratica.

19 T he Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

L'Eterno ha stabilito il suo trono nei cieli, e il suo regno domina su tutto.

20 B less the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

Benedite l'Eterno, voi suoi angeli potenti e forti, che fate ciò che egli dice, ubbidendo alla voce della sua parola.

21 B less ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

Benedite l'Eterno, voi tutti eserciti suoi, voi suoi ministri, che fate la sua volontà.

22 B less the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.

Benedite l'Eterno, voi tutte le sue opere, in tutti i luoghi del suo dominio. Anima mia. benedici l'Eterno!
