1 A rise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

«Sorgi, risplendi, perché la tua luce è giunta, e la gloria dell'Eterno Si è levata su te.

2 F or, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

Poiché ecco, le tenebre ricoprono la terra e una fitta oscurità avvolge i popoli, ma su di te si leva l'Eterno e la sua gloria appare su di te.

3 A nd the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Le nazioni cammineranno alla tua luce e i re allo splendore del tuo sorgere.

4 L ift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

Volgi i tuoi occhi tutt'intorno e guarda: si radunano tutti e vengono a te; i tuoi figli verranno da lontano e le tue figlie saranno portate in braccio.

5 T hen thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.

Allora guarderai e sarai raggiante, il tuo cuore palpiterà e si dilaterà perché l'abbondanza del mare confluirà a te, la ricchezza delle nazioni verrà a te.

6 T he multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the Lord.

Una moltitudine di cammelli ti coprirà, dromedari di Madian e di Efah; quelli di Sceba verranno tutti, portando oro e incenso, e proclamando le lodi dell'Eterno.

7 A ll the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

Tutte le greggi di Kedar, si raduneranno presso di te, i montoni di Nebaioth saranno al tuo servizio saliranno sul mio altare come offerta gradita, e io renderò glorioso il tempio, della mia gloria,

8 W ho are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?

Chi sono questi che volano come una nuvola e come colombe verso le loro colombaie?

9 S urely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the Lord thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.

Sí le isole spereranno in me, con le navi di Tarshish al primo posto, per portare i tuoi figli da lontano col loro argento e col loro oro, per il nome dell'Eterno, il tuo DIO, e per il Santo d'Israele, che ti avrà resa bella.

10 A nd the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.

I figli dello straniero ricostruiranno le tue mura e i loro re saranno al tuo servizio, perché nella mia ira ti ho colpito, ma nella mia benevolenza ho avuto compassione di te,

11 T herefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.

Le tue porte saranno sempre aperte non si chiuderanno né di giorno né di notte, perché possano far entrare in te la ricchezza delle nazioni con i loro re in testa.

12 F or the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

Poiché la nazione e il regno che non ti serviranno periranno, e quelle nazioni saranno interamente distrutte.

13 T he glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.

La gloria del Libano verrà a te, assieme al cipresso, al larice e all'abete, per abbellire il luogo del mio santuario, e io renderò glorioso il luogo dove posano i miei piedi.

14 T he sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

Anche i figli dei tuoi oppressori verranno inchinandosi a te, e tutti quelli che ti hanno disprezzato si prostreranno alle piante dei tuoi piedi e ti chiameranno "la città dell'Eterno" "la Sion del Santo d'Israele"

15 W hereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.

Invece di essere abbandonata e odiata, tanto che nessuno piú passava da te, io farò di te uno splendore eterno, la gioia di molte generazioni.

16 T hou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

Tu succhierai il latte delle nazioni, succhierai alle mammelle dei re e riconoscerai che io, l'Eterno sono il tuo Salvatore e il tuo Redentore, il Potente di Giacobbe.

17 F or brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.

Invece di bronzo farò venire oro invece di ferro farò venire argento invece di legno bronzo, invece di pietre ferro; stabilirò come tuo magistrato la pace e come tuo sorvegliante la giustizia.

18 V iolence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.

Non si udrà piú parlare di violenza nel tuo paese, né di devastazione e di rovina entro i tuoi confini; ma chiamerai le tue mura "Salvezza" e le tue porte "Lode".

19 T he sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

Il sole non sarà piú la tua luce di giorno, né la luna ti illuminerà piú col suo chiarore; ma l'Eterno sarà la tua luce eterna e il tuo DIO la tua gloria

20 T hy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

Il tuo sole non tramonterà piú e la tua luna non si ritirerà piú, perché l'Eterno sarà la tua luce perpetua e i giorni del tuo lutto saranno finiti.

21 T hy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.

Tutti quelli del tuo popolo saranno giusti; essi possederanno il paese per sempre, il germoglio da me piantato, l'opera delle mie mani, per manifestare la mia gloria.

22 A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time.

Il piú piccolo diventerà un migliaio. Il minimo una nazione potente. Io l'Eterno, affretterò le cose a suo tempo».
