1 « Salmo di Davide.» Benedici, anima mia, l'Eterno, e tutto quello che è in me benedica il suo santo nome.

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 B enedici, anima mia, l'Eterno e non dimenticare alcuno dei suoi benefici.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 E gli perdona tutte le tue iniquità e guarisce tutte le tue infermità,

who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 r iscatta la tua vita dalla distruzione e ti corona di benignità e di compassioni;

who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 e gli sazia di beni la tua bocca e ti fa ringiovanire come l'aquila.

who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 L 'Eterno opera con giustizia e difende la causa degli oppressi.

The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

7 E gli ha fatto conoscere a Mosè le sue vie e ai figli d'Israele le sue opere.

He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

8 L 'Eterno è pietoso e clemente, lento all'ira e di grande benignità.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9 E gli non contende in eterno e non serba l'ira per sempre

He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 E gli non ci tratta come meritano i nostri peccati, e non ci castiga in base alle nostre colpe.

He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 P oiché, quanto sono alti i cieli al di sopra della terra, tanto è grande la sua benignità verso quelli che lo temono.

For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 Q uanto è lontano il levante dal ponente, tanto ha egli allontanato da noi le nostre colpe.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 C ome un padre è pietoso verso i suoi figli, cosí è pietoso l'Eterno verso quelli che lo temono.

Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

14 P erché egli conosce la nostra natura e si ricorda che siamo polvere.

For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 I giorni dell'uomo sono come l'erba; egli fiorisce come il fiore del campo;

As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 s e il vento gli passa sopra, egli non è piú e il suo luogo non lo si riconosce piú.

For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17 M a la benignità dell'Eterno dura d'eternità in eternità per quelli che lo temono e la sua giustizia per i figli dei figli,

But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;

18 p er quelli che osservano il suo patto e si ricordano dei suoi comandamenti per metterli in pratica.

to such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

19 L 'Eterno ha stabilito il suo trono nei cieli, e il suo regno domina su tutto.

The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

20 B enedite l'Eterno, voi suoi angeli potenti e forti, che fate ciò che egli dice, ubbidendo alla voce della sua parola.

Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

21 B enedite l'Eterno, voi tutti eserciti suoi, voi suoi ministri, che fate la sua volontà.

Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

22 B enedite l'Eterno, voi tutte le sue opere, in tutti i luoghi del suo dominio. Anima mia. benedici l'Eterno!

Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.
