I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

2 N el giorno della mia avversità ho cercato il Signore, durante la notte la mia mano è rimasta protesa senza stancarsi e l'anima mia ha rifiutato di essere consolata.

In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

3 M i ricordo di DIO e gemo; mi lamento e il mio spirito viene meno. (Sela)

I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

4 T u mantieni aperte le mie palpebre; sono cosí turbato che non posso parlare.

Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

5 R ipenso ai giorni antichi, agli anni dei tempi passati.

I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

6 D urante la notte mi ritorna alla mente il mio canto, medito nel mio cuore e il mio spirito investiga.

I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

7 M i rigetterà il Signore per sempre? E non mi gradirà mai piú?

Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

8 E la sua benignità cessata per sempre e la sua parola venuta meno per le generazioni future?

Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?

9 H a DIO forse dimenticato di aver pietà e ha nell'ira posto fine alle sue compassioni? (Sela)

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

10 I o ho detto: «Il motivo della mia afflizione è che la destra dell'Altissimo è mutata».

And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

11 R icorderò le opere dell'Eterno, sì, ricorderò le tue meraviglie dei tempi passati,

I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

12 m editerò su tutte le tue opere e considererò le tue gesta.

I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

13 O DIO, la tua via è santa, quale DIO è grande come DIO?

Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

14 T u sei il DIO che compie meraviglie tu hai fatto conoscere la tua forza fra i popoli.

Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

15 C ol tuo braccio hai riscattato il tuo popolo, i figli di Giacobbe e di Giuseppe. (Sela)

Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

16 L e acque ti videro, o DIO, le acque ti videro e furono spaventate, anche gli abissi tremarono.

The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.

17 L e nubi versarono diluvi d'acqua, i cieli tuonarono e le tue saette guizzarono.

The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.

18 I l fragore del tuo tuono era nel turbine, i lampi illuminarono il mondo e la terra fu scossa e tremò.

The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.

19 A pristi la tua via in mezzo al mare, il tuo sentiero in mezzo alle grandi acque, e le tue orme non furono riconosciute.

Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

20 T u guidasti il tuo popolo come un gregge per mano di Mosè e di Aaronne.

Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
