1 M a a Salomone occorsero tredici anni a costruire la sua propria casa; cosí egli portò a termine tutta la sua casa.

But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house.

2 E gli costruí la casa della "Foresta del Libano, lunga cento cubiti, larga cinquanta e alta trenta su quattro ordini di colonne di cedro, sulle quali poggiavano travi di cedro.

He built also the house of the forest of Lebanon; the length thereof was an hundred cubits, and the breadth thereof fifty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits, upon four rows of cedar pillars, with cedar beams upon the pillars.

3 U n soffitto di cedro copriva le camere che poggiavano sulle colonne, e che erano in numero di quarantacinque, quindici per fila.

And it was covered with cedar above upon the beams, that lay on forty five pillars, fifteen in a row.

4 V i erano tre file di finestre, contrapposte le une alle altre su tre piani diversi.

And there were windows in three rows, and light was against light in three ranks.

5 T utte le porte con i loro stipiti ed architravi erano quadrangolari, e le finestre erano opposte le une alle altre su tre piani diversi.

And all the doors and posts were square, with the windows: and light was against light in three ranks.

6 F ece pure il portico di colonne, lungo cinquanta cubiti e largo trenta; sul davanti c'era un vestibolo, sostenuto da colonne e coperto da un tetto.

And he made a porch of pillars; the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth thereof thirty cubits: and the porch was before them: and the other pillars and the thick beam were before them.

7 P oi fece il portico del trono dove amministrava la giustizia, chiamato "Portico del giudizio"; e lo ricoprí di cedro dal pavimento al soffitto.

Then he made a porch for the throne where he might judge, even the porch of judgment: and it was covered with cedar from one side of the floor to the other.

8 L a casa invece dove egli abitava, costruita alla stessa maniera, aveva un altro cortile all'interno del portico. Salomone fece pure una casa con un portico simile a questo per la figlia del Faraone che aveva preso in moglie.

And his house where he dwelt had another court within the porch, which was of the like work. Solomon made also an house for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had taken to wife, like unto this porch.

9 T utte queste costruzioni erano di pietre scelte, squadrate a misura, tagliate con la sega di dentro e di fuori dalle fondamenta ai cornicioni, e al di fuori fino al cortile maggiore.

All these were of costly stones, according to the measures of hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and so on the outside toward the great court.

10 A nche le fondamenta erano di pietre scelte, di pietre grosse, alcune di dieci cubiti e altre di otto cubiti.

And the foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits.

11 A l di sopra c'erano pietre scelte, squadrate a misura e del legname di cedro.

And above were costly stones, after the measures of hewed stones, and cedars.

12 l l grande cortile aveva tutt'intorno tre ordini di pietre squadrate e un ordine di travi di cedro, come il cortile interno della casa dell'Eterno e come il portico del tempio.

And the great court round about was with three rows of hewed stones, and a row of cedar beams, both for the inner court of the house of the Lord, and for the porch of the house.

13 I l re Salomone fece venire da Tiro Hiram,

And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.

14 f iglio d'una vedova della tribú di Neftali; suo padre era di Tiro e lavorava il bronzo; era pieno di sapienza, di intelligenza e di abilità per eseguire qualsiasi lavoro in bronzo Egli si recò dal re Salomone ed eseguí tutti i lavori a lui assegnati.

He was a widow’s son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.

15 F use due colonne di bronzo. Ciascuna era alta diciotto cubiti e ciascuna aveva una circonferenza di dodici cubiti.

For he cast two pillars of brass, of eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits did compass either of them about.

16 F ece anche due capitelli di bronzo fuso da mettere in cima alle colonne, un capitello aveva l'altezza di cinque cubiti e cinque cubiti era pure l'altezza del secondo capitello.

And he made two chapiters of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of the one chapiter was five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter was five cubits:

17 F ece quindi un reticolo con ghirlande a forma di catene per i capitelli che erano in cima alle colonne, sette per un capitello e sette per l'altro capitello.

and nets of checker work, and wreaths of chain work, for the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the other chapiter.

18 C osí fece le colonne e due file di melagrane tutt'intorno al reticolo, per coprire i capitelli che erano in cima alle colonne; fece la stessa cosa per entrambi i capitelli.

And he made the pillars, and two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the chapiters that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and so did he for the other chapiter.

19 I capitelli che erano in cima alle colonne nel portico erano a forma di giglio, ed erano di quattro cubiti.

And the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily work in the porch, four cubits.

20 I noltre sui capitelli in cima ad entrambe le colonne, al di sopra della parte convessa vicina al reticolo, c'erano duecento melagrane poste in fila tutt'intorno.

And the chapiters upon the two pillars had pomegranates also above, over against the belly which was by the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows round about upon the other chapiter.

21 P oi installò le colonne nel portico del tempio; installò la colonna sulla destra e la chiamò Jakin, quindi installò la colonna di sinistra e la chiamò Boaz.

And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz.

22 I n cima alle colonne c'era un lavoro a forma di giglio. Cosí fu terminato il lavoro delle colonne.

And upon the top of the pillars was lily work: so was the work of the pillars finished.

23 P oi fece il mare di metallo fuso, di forma circolare, che da un orlo all'altro misurava dieci cubiti; la sua altezza era di cinque cubiti e la sua circonferenza di trenta cubiti.

And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.

24 S otto l'orlo e tutt'intorno al mare vi erano delle coloquintidi ornamentali dieci ogni cubito; le coloquintidi ornamentali erano disposte su due file ed erano state fuse.

And under the brim of it round about there were knops compassing it, ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops were cast in two rows, when it was cast.

25 I l mare poggiava su dodici buoi, di cui tre guardavano a nord, tre a ovest, tre a sud e tre a est; il mare era posto su di essi, e le loro parti posteriori erano rivolte all'interno.

It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward.

26 E sso aveva lo spessore di un palmo; il suo orlo era fatto come l'orlo di un calice come il fiore di un giglio; esso conteneva duemila bati.

And it was an hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two thousand baths.

27 F ece pure dieci carrelli di bronzo, ciascuno lungo quattro cubiti, largo quattro cubiti e alto tre cubiti.

And he made ten bases of brass; four cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth thereof, and three cubits the height of it.

28 I carrelli erano cosí costruiti: essi avevano dei pannelli laterali, e i pannelli erano racchiusi da cornici.

And the work of the bases was on this manner: they had borders, and the borders were between the ledges:

29 S ui pannelli, che erano fra le cornici, erano raffigurati leoni, buoi e cherubini. Sulle cornici era poggiato un piedistallo, mentre al di sopra e al di sotto dei leoni e dei buoi c'erano ghirlande a forma di festoni.

and on the borders that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubims: and upon the ledges there was a base above: and beneath the lions and oxen were certain additions made of thin work.

30 O gni carrello aveva quattro ruote di bronzo con gli assi pure di bronzo; i suoi quattro piedi avevano delle spallette sotto la conca, e le spallette erano state fuse, con delle ghirlande a lato di ciascuna.

And every base had four brasen wheels, and plates of brass: and the four corners thereof had undersetters: under the laver were undersetters molten, at the side of every addition.

31 L a sua apertura, all'interno della corona e nella parte alta, era rotonda; essa era profonda un cubito dalla forma di un piedistallo e aveva il diametro di un cubito e mezzo; anche attorno all'apertura c'erano delle sculture, ma i pannelli erano quadrati e non rotondi.

And the mouth of it within the chapiter and above was a cubit: but the mouth thereof was round after the work of the base, a cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it were gravings with their borders, foursquare, not round.

32 L e quattro ruote erano sotto i pannelli e gli assi delle ruote erano fissati alla base. L'altezza di ogni ruota era di un cubito e mezzo.

And under the borders were four wheels; and the axletrees of the wheels were joined to the base: and the height of a wheel was a cubit and half a cubit.

33 L a lavorazione delle ruote era come quella di un carro. I loro assi, i loro cerchi, i loro raggi e i loro mozzi erano tutti di bronzo fuso.

And the work of the wheels was like the work of a chariot wheel: their axletrees, and their naves, and their felloes, and their spokes, were all molten.

34 A i quattro angoli di ogni carrello c'erano quattro spallette, che erano un tutt'uno col carrello stesso.

And there were four undersetters to the four corners of one base: and the undersetters were of the very base itself.

35 I n cima al carrello c'era un sostegno rotondo e alto mezzo cubito; e in cima al carrello, le sue cornici e i suoi pannelli erano un tutt'uno con esso.

And in the top of the base was there a round compass of half a cubit high: and on the top of the base the ledges thereof and the borders thereof were of the same.

36 s ulla superficie delle sue cornici e del suoi pannelli, Hiram scolpí cherubini, leoni e palme, secondo gli spazi liberi, e ghirlande tutt'intorno.

For on the plates of the ledges thereof, and on the borders thereof, he graved cherubims, lions, and palm trees, according to the proportion of every one, and additions round about.

37 I n questo modo egli fece i dieci carrelli, che ebbero tutti la stessa fusione, la stessa dimensione e la stessa forma.

After this manner he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, and one size.

38 P oi fece dieci conche di bronzo, ciascuna delle quali conteneva quaranta bati ed era di quattro cubiti; e ogni conca posava su uno dei dieci carrelli.

Then made he ten lavers of brass: one laver contained forty baths: and every laver was four cubits: and upon every one of the ten bases one laver.

39 E gli collocò i carrelli, cinque sul lato destro del tempio e cinque sul lato sinistro del tempio, e pose il mare sul lato destro del tempio, verso sud-est

And he put five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house: and he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward over against the south.

40 H iram fece le conche le palette e le coppe. Cosí Hiram terminò ogni lavoro che doveva fare per il re Salomone nella casa dell'Eterno:

And Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the basons. So Hiram made an end of doing all the work that he made king Solomon for the house of the Lord:

41 l e due colonne, i due capitelli a vaso in cima alle colonne, i due reticoli per coprire i due capitelli a vaso in cima alle colonne,

the two pillars, and the two bowls of the chapiters that were on the top of the two pillars; and the two networks, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars;

42 l e quattrocento melagrane per i due reticoli (due file di melagrane per ogni reticolo per coprire i due capitelli a vaso in cima alle colonne),

and four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, even two rows of pomegranates for one network, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that were upon the pillars;

43 i dieci carrelli, le dieci conche sui carrelli,

and the ten bases, and ten lavers on the bases;

44 i l mare, uno solo, e i dodici buoi sotto il mare,

and one sea, and twelve oxen under the sea;

45 i vasi, le palette le conche. Tutti questi utensili, che Salomone fece fare a Hiram per la casa dell'Eterno, erano di bronzo levigato.

and the pots, and the shovels, and the basons: and all these vessels, which Hiram made to king Solomon for the house of the Lord, were of bright brass.

46 I l re li fece fondere nella pianura del Giordano in un suolo argilloso, fra Suk-koth e Tsarethan.

In the plain of Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zarthan.

47 S alomone non si curò di pesare tutti questi utensili, perché erano moltissimi; il peso del bronzo non fu accertato.

And Solomon left all the vessels unweighed, because they were exceeding many: neither was the weight of the brass found out.

48 S alomone fece fabbricare tutti gli arredi della casa dell'Eterno: l'altare d'oro, la tavola d'oro su cui si mettevano i pani della presentazione;

And Solomon made all the vessels that pertained unto the house of the Lord: the altar of gold, and the table of gold, whereupon the shewbread was,

49 i candelabri d'oro puro, cinque a destra e cinque a sinistra davanti al luogo santissimo, con i fiori, le lampade e gli smoccolatoi d'oro;

and the candlesticks of pure gold, five on the right side, and five on the left, before the oracle, with the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs of gold,

50 l e coppe, i coltelli, le conche, i cucchiai e i bracieri d'oro fino, e i cardini d'oro per le porte della casa interna (cioè del luogo santissimo) e per le porte all'ingresso del tempio stesso.

and the bowls, and the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers of pure gold; and the hinges of gold, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, to wit, of the temple.

51 C osí fu terminato tutto il lavoro che il re Salomone aveva fatto fare per la casa dell'Eterno. Poi Salomone fece portare l'argento, l'oro e gli utensili che Davide suo padre aveva consacrato, e li mise nei tesori della casa dell'Eterno.

So was ended all the work that king Solomon made for the house of the Lord. And Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated; even the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, did he put among the treasures of the house of the Lord.
