1 L a parola dell'Eterno che fu rivolta a Michea, il Morashtita ai giorni di Jotham, di Achaz e di Ezechia, re di Giuda, e che egli ebbe in visione intorno a Samaria e a Gerusalemme.

The word of the Lord that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.

2 A scoltate, o popoli tutti! Presta attenzione, o terra, con tutto ciò che contieni! Il Signore, l'Eterno, sia testimone contro di voi, il Signore, dal suo tempio santo.

Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

3 P oiché, ecco, l'Eterno esce dalla sua dimora, scende e cammina sulle alture della terra;

For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

4 i monti si sciolgono sotto di lui, e le valli si squarciano come cera davanti al fuoco, come acque versate su un pendìo.

And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.

5 T utto questo per la trasgressione di Giacobbe, e per i peccati della casa d'Israele. Qual è la trasgressione di Giacobbe? Non è forse Samaria? Quali sono gli alti luoghi di Giuda? Non sono forse Gerusalemme?

For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?

6 P erciò ridurrò Samaria a un mucchio di rovine nella campagna, a un luogo da piantarvi la vigna. Farò rotolare le sue pietre nella valle e metterò a nudo le sue fondamenta.

Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.

7 T utte le sue immagini scolpite saranno frantumate, tutti i suoi guadagni di prostituzione saranno arsi col fuoco e tutti i suoi idoli io li ridurrò a una desolazione, perché messi insieme con i guadagni di prostituzione, ed essi torneranno in guadagni di prostituzione.

And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.

8 P er questo io emetterò lamenti e gemerò, me ne andrò svestito e nudo; manderò lamenti come lo sciacallo, grida lugubri come lo struzzo.

Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls.

9 L e sue ferite infatti sono incurabili, perché sono giunte fino a Giuda, sono arrivate fino alla porta del mio popolo, a Gerusalemme stessa.

For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.

10 N on annunziatelo in Gath, non piangete affatto a Beth-le-Afrah, rotolatevi nella polvere.

Declare ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust.

11 P assa oltre in vergognosa nudità o abitatrice di Shafir; l'abitatrice di Tsaanan non esce piú, il cordoglio di Bethhaetsel vi porterà via il luogo su cui sta.

Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Beth-ezel; he shall receive of you his standing.

12 L 'abitatrice di Maroth si addolora giustamente, perché una sciagura è scesa da parte dell'Eterno fino alla porta di Gerusalemme

For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the Lord unto the gate of Jerusalem.

13 A ttacca i destrieri al carro, o abitatrice di Lakish! Essa è stata il principio del peccato per la figlia di Sion, perché in te sono state trovate le trasgressioni d'Israele.

O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the transgressions of Israel were found in thee.

14 P erciò tu darai un regalo di addio a Moresceth-Gath, le case di Akzib saranno una cosa ingannevole per i re d'Israele.

Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moresheth-gath: the houses of Achzib shall be a lie to the kings of Israel.

15 T i condurrò un nuovo erede, o abitatrice di Mareshah, la gloria d'Israele giungerà fino ad Adullam.

Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come unto Adullam the glory of Israel.

16 T agliati i capelli e raditi il capo a motivo dei figli delle tue delizie. Allarga la tua calvizie come l'avvoltoio perché andranno in cattività lontano da te.

Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.
