1 A nd Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

Сатана восстал на Израиль и побудил Давида устроить перепись Израиля.

2 A nd David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer-sheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.

Давид сказал Иоаву и начальникам войска: – Пойдите произведите перепись израильтян от Вирсавии до Дана и доложите мне, чтобы я знал, сколько их.

3 A nd Joab answered, The Lord make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

Но Иоав ответил: – Пусть Господь умножит Свой народ стократно. Разве не все они, господин мой, царь, твои слуги? Зачем мой господин хочет это сделать? Зачем ему наводить грех на Израиль?

4 N evertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

Но царское слово оказалось сильнее слова Иоава, и Иоав ушел, прошел по всему Израилю и вернулся в Иерусалим.

5 A nd Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.

Иоав доложил Давиду о результатах переписи. Во всем Израиле было один миллион сто тысяч мужчин, способных владеть мечом, включая четыреста семьдесят тысяч в Иудее.

6 B ut Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.

Иоав не включил в общее число роды Левия и Вениамина, потому что приказ царя ему не понравился.

7   And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.

Этот приказ был неугоден и Богу, и Он наказал Израиль.

8 A nd David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

Тогда Давид сказал Богу: – Сделав это, я совершил великий грех. Теперь я молю Тебя, прости вину Твоего слуги! Я поступил очень безрассудно.

9 A nd the Lord spake unto Gad, David’s seer, saying,

Господь сказал Гаду, провидцу Давида:

10 G o and tell David, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

– Иди и скажи Давиду: «Так говорит Господь: Я предлагаю тебе три наказания. Выбери, каким из них Мне наказать тебя».

11 S o Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Choose thee

Гад пришел к Давиду и сказал ему: – Так говорит Господь: «Выбирай:

12 e ither three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the Lord, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the Lord destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.

или три года голода или три месяца опустошения врагами, когда их меч будет неотступно преследовать тебя, или три дня Господнего меча – это дни мора в стране, когда Ангел Господень станет губить людей по всей земле Израиля». Итак, обдумай, чтобы я мог ответить Пославшему меня.

13 A nd David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the Lord; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.

Давид сказал Гаду: – Мне очень тяжело, но пусть лучше я попаду в руки Господа, а не в руки людей, ведь Его милость очень велика.

14 S o the Lord sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.

Господь послал на Израиль мор, и погибло семьдесят тысяч израильтян.

15 A nd God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the Lord beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Бог послал Ангела, чтобы погубить Иерусалим. Но когда Он стал истреблять город, Господь увидел, пожалел о бедствии и сказал Ангелу, Который разил народ: – Довольно! Опусти руку. Ангел Господень в то время стоял над гумном иевусея Орны.

16 A nd David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

Давид поднял взгляд и увидел Ангела Господня, Который стоял между землей и небом с обнаженным мечом в руке, протянутым в сторону Иерусалима. И Давид со старейшинами, одетыми в рубище, пали лицом на землю.

17 A nd David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O Lord my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.

Давид сказал Богу: – Разве не я велел пересчитать народ? Я согрешил и сделал зло, а эти овцы – что они сделали? Господи, Боже мой, пусть же Твоя рука обратится на меня и на мою семью, но не дай Твоему народу сгинуть от мора. Давид сооружает жертвенник (2 Цар. 24: 18-25)

18 T hen the angel of the Lord commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the Lord in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Тогда Ангел Господень повелел Гаду сказать Давиду, чтобы тот пошел и построил жертвенник Господу на гумне иевусея Орны.

19 A nd David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the Lord.

И Давид пошел в послушании слову, которое произнес Гад во Имя Господа.

20   And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.

Когда Орна молотил пшеницу, он обернулся и увидел Ангела. Четверо сыновей Орны, которые были с ним, попрятались.

21 A nd as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.

Тогда Давид пришел к Орне и когда Орна посмотрел и увидел Давида, он вышел из гумна и склонился перед Давидом лицом до земли.

22 T hen David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the Lord: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.

Давид сказал ему: – Отдай мне свое гумно, я построю на его месте жертвенник Господу, чтобы прекратился мор среди народа. Продай его мне за полную цену.

23 A nd Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.

Орна сказал Давиду: – Бери его! Пусть господин мой царь делает то, что ему угодно. Вот, я отдаю волов для всесожжения, молотильную доску на дрова и пшеницу для хлебного приношения. Я отдаю все это.

24 A nd king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

Но царь Давид ответил Орне: – Нет, я заплачу тебе полную цену. Я не возьму для Господа того, что принадлежит тебе, и не стану приносить всесожжения, которое мне ничего не стоило.

25 S o David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.

Давид заплатил Орне шестьсот шекелей золота за это место.

26 A nd David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

Давид построил там жертвенник Господу и принес всесожжения и жертвы примирения. Он призвал Господа, и Господь ответил ему, послав огонь с небес на жертвенник для всесожжений.

27 A nd the Lord commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.

После этого Господь сказал Ангелу, и Тот вложил Свой меч в ножны.

28 A t that time when David saw that the Lord had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.

В то время, увидев, что Господь ответил ему на гумне иевусея Орны, Давид стал приносить Ему там жертвы.

29 F or the tabernacle of the Lord, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon.

Скиния Господа, которую сделал в пустыне Моисей, и жертвенник для всесожжений находились в то время на возвышенности в Гаваоне.

30 B ut David could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the Lord.

Давид не мог пойти туда, чтобы говорить с Господом, потому что боялся меча Ангела Господнего.
