2 « Così parla il Signore degli eserciti: “Io provo per Sion una grande gelosia, sono geloso di lei con grande ardore”.

Yahweh of Armies says: “I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.”

3 C osì parla il Signore: “Io torno a Sion e abiterò in mezzo a Gerusalemme; Gerusalemme si chiamerà la Città della fedeltà, il monte del Signore degli eserciti, Monte santo”.

Yahweh says: “I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the middle of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called ‘The City of Truth;’ and the mountain of Yahweh of Armies, ‘The Holy Mountain.’”

4 C osì parla il Signore degli eserciti: “Ci saranno ancora vecchi e vecchie che si siederanno nelle piazze di Gerusalemme, ognuno avrà il bastone in mano a motivo della loro età molto avanzata.

Yahweh of Armies says: “Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand for very age.

Yahweh of Armies says: “If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?” says Yahweh of Armies.

7 C osì parla il Signore degli eserciti: “Ecco, io salvo il mio popolo dalla terra d’oriente e dalla terra d’occidente.

Yahweh of Armies says: “Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;

8 L i ricondurrò, ed essi abiteranno in mezzo a Gerusalemme; essi saranno mio popolo e io sarò loro Dio con fedeltà e con giustizia”.

and I will bring them, and they will dwell within Jerusalem; and they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.”

9 C osì parla il Signore degli eserciti: “Fortificate le vostre mani, o voi che oggi udite queste parole dalla bocca dei profeti che c’erano quando venivano gettate le fondamenta della casa del Signore degli eserciti, affinché il tempio sia ricostruito.

Yahweh of Armies says: “Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of Yahweh of Armies was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.

10 P rima di questi giorni non c’era salario per il lavoro dell’uomo, né salario per il lavoro delle bestie; non c’era nessuna sicurezza per quelli che andavano e venivano, a motivo del nemico, e io mettevo gli uni contro gli altri.

For before those days there was no wages for man, nor any wages for an animal; neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor.

It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don’t be afraid. Let your hands be strong.”

For Yahweh of Armies says: “As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and I didn’t repent;

15 c osì di nuovo ho pensato in questi giorni di fare del bene a Gerusalemme e alla casa di Giuda; non temete!

so again have I thought in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Don’t be afraid.

16 Q ueste sono le cose che dovete fare: dite la verità ciascuno al suo prossimo; fate giustizia, nei vostri tribunali, secondo verità e per la pace;

These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates,

17 n essuno trami in cuor suo alcun male contro il suo prossimo; non amate il falso giuramento; perché tutte queste cose io le odio”, dice il Signore ».

and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate,” says Yahweh.

19 « Così parla il Signore degli eserciti: “Il digiuno del quarto, il digiuno del quinto, il digiuno del settimo e il digiuno del decimo mese diventeranno per la casa di Giuda una gioia, un gaudio, feste d’esultanza; amate dunque la verità e la pace”.

Yahweh of Armies says: “The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace.”

20 C osì parla il Signore degli eserciti: “Verranno ancora dei popoli e gli abitanti di molte città;

Yahweh of Armies says: “Many peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come;

21 g li abitanti dell’una andranno all’altra e diranno: ‘Andiamo, andiamo a implorare il favore del Signore e a cercare il Signore degli eserciti! Anch’io voglio andare!’

and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, ‘Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of Yahweh, and to seek Yahweh of Armies. I will go also.’

22 M olti popoli e nazioni potenti verranno a cercare il Signore degli eserciti a Gerusalemme e a implorare il favore del Signore ”.

Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek Yahweh of Armies in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of Yahweh.”

23 C osì parla il Signore degli eserciti: “In quei giorni avverrà che dieci uomini di tutte le lingue delle nazioni piglieranno un Giudeo per il lembo della veste e diranno: ‘Noi verremo con voi perché abbiamo udito che Dio è con voi’”».

Yahweh of Armies says: “In those days, ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, ‘We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
