1 I l Signore disse ancora a Mosè:

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2 « Parla ad Aaronne, ai suoi figli e a tutti i figli d’Israele e di’ loro: “Questo è quello che il Signore ha ordinato:

“Speak to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded,

3 S e un uomo qualsiasi della casa d’Israele scanna un bue, un agnello o una capra dentro l’accampamento o fuori dell’accampamento

Whatever man there is of the house of Israel, who kills a bull, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or who kills it outside the camp,

4 e non lo conduce all’ingresso della tenda di convegno, per presentarlo come offerta al Signore davanti al tabernacolo del Signore, sarà considerato come colpevole di spargimento di sangue; ha sparso del sangue. Quest’uomo sarà eliminato dal mezzo del suo popolo,

and hasn’t brought it to the door of the Tent of Meeting, to offer it as an offering to Yahweh before Yahweh’s tabernacle: blood shall be imputed to that man. He has shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people.

5 a ffinché i figli d’Israele, invece di offrire, come fanno, i loro sacrifici nei campi, li portino al Signore presentandoli al sacerdote, all’ingresso della tenda di convegno, e li offrano al Signore come sacrifici di riconoscenza.

This is to the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they sacrifice in the open field, that they may bring them to Yahweh, to the door of the Tent of Meeting, to the priest, and sacrifice them for sacrifices of peace offerings to Yahweh.

6 I l sacerdote ne spargerà il sangue sull’altare del Signore, all’ingresso della tenda di convegno, e farà bruciare il grasso come un profumo soave per il Signore.

The priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of Yahweh at the door of the Tent of Meeting, and burn the fat for a pleasant aroma to Yahweh.

7 E ssi non offriranno più i loro sacrifici agl’idoli a forma di capri che sono soliti adorare prostituendosi. Questa sarà per loro una legge perenne, di generazione in generazione”.

They shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices to the goat idols, after which they play the prostitute. This shall be a statute forever to them throughout their generations.’

8 D i’ loro ancora: “Se un uomo della casa d’Israele, o uno degli stranieri che soggiornano in mezzo a loro, offrirà un olocausto o un sacrificio

“You shall say to them, ‘Any man there is of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who live as foreigners among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,

9 e non lo porterà all’ingresso della tenda di convegno per offrirlo al Signore, quest’uomo sarà eliminato dal suo popolo. Divieto di mangiare il sangue

and doesn’t bring it to the door of the Tent of Meeting, to sacrifice it to Yahweh; that man shall be cut off from his people.

10 « “Se un uomo della casa d’Israele, o uno degli stranieri che abitano in mezzo a loro, mangia qualsiasi genere di sangue, io volgerò la mia faccia contro la persona che avrà mangiato del sangue e la eliminerò dal mezzo del suo popolo.

“‘Any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who live as foreigners among them, who eats any kind of blood, I will set my face against that soul who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

11 P oiché la vita della carne è nel sangue. Per questo vi ho ordinato di porlo sull’altare per fare l’espiazione per le vostre persone; perché il sangue è quello che fa l’espiazione, per mezzo della vita.

For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes atonement by reason of the life.

12 P erciò ho detto ai figli d’Israele: ‘Nessuno tra voi mangerà del sangue; neppure lo straniero che abita fra voi mangerà del sangue’.

Therefore I have said to the children of Israel, “No person among you may eat blood, nor may any stranger who lives as a foreigner among you eat blood.”

13 E se uno qualunque dei figli d’Israele o degli stranieri che abitano fra loro prende alla caccia un quadrupede o un uccello che si può mangiare, ne spargerà il sangue e lo coprirà di polvere;

“‘Whatever man there is of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who live as foreigners among them, who takes in hunting any animal or bird that may be eaten; he shall pour out its blood, and cover it with dust.

14 p erché la vita di ogni carne è il sangue; nel suo sangue sta la vita; perciò ho detto ai figli d’Israele: ‘Non mangerete il sangue di nessuna creatura, poiché la vita di ogni creatura è il suo sangue; chiunque ne mangerà sarà eliminato’.

For as to the life of all flesh, its blood is with its life: therefore I said to the children of Israel, “You shall not eat the blood of any kind of flesh; for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.”

15 Q ualunque persona, sia essa nativa del paese o straniera, che mangerà carne di bestia morta da sé o sbranata, si laverà le vesti, laverà se stesso nell’acqua e sarà impuro fino alla sera; poi sarà puro.

“‘Every person that eats what dies of itself, or that which is torn by animals, whether he is native-born or a foreigner, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening: then he shall be clean.

16 M a se non si lava le vesti e se non lava il suo corpo, porterà la pena della sua iniquità”».

But if he doesn’t wash them, or bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.’”
