1 O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.

Venez, chantons avec allégresse à l'Éternel! Poussons des cris de joie vers le rocher de notre salut.

2 L et us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

Allons au-devant de lui avec des louanges, Faisons retentir des cantiques en son honneur!

3 F or the Lord is a great God And a great King above all gods,

Car l'Éternel est un grand Dieu, Il est un grand roi au-dessus de tous les dieux.

4 I n whose hand are the depths of the earth, The peaks of the mountains are His also.

Il tient dans sa main les profondeurs de la terre, Et les sommets des montagnes sont à lui.

5 T he sea is His, for it was He who made it, And His hands formed the dry land.

La mer est à lui, c'est lui qui l'a faite; La terre aussi, ses mains l'ont formée.

6 C ome, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

Venez, prosternons-nous et humilions-nous, Fléchissons le genou devant l'Éternel, notre créateur!

7 F or He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you would hear His voice,

Car il est notre Dieu, Et nous sommes le peuple de son pâturage, Le troupeau que sa main conduit... Oh! si vous pouviez écouter aujourd'hui sa voix!

8 D o not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness,

N'endurcissez pas votre coeur, comme à Meriba, Comme à la journée de Massa, dans le désert,

Où vos pères me tentèrent, M'éprouvèrent, quoiqu'ils vissent mes oeuvres.

10 “ For forty years I loathed that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, And they do not know My ways.

Pendant quarante ans j'eus cette race en dégoût, Et je dis: C'est un peuple dont le coeur est égaré; Ils ne connaissent pas mes voies.

11 “ Therefore I swore in My anger, Truly they shall not enter into My rest.”

Aussi je jurai dans ma colère: Ils n'entreront pas dans mon repos!
