Le Saint Esprit montrait par là que le chemin du lieu très saint n'était pas encore ouvert, tant que le premier tabernacle subsistait.

combien plus le sang de Christ, qui, par un esprit éternel, s'est offert lui-même sans tache à Dieu, purifiera-t-il votre conscience des oeuvres mortes, afin que vous serviez le Dieu vivant!

15 F or this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Et c'est pour cela qu'il est le médiateur d'une nouvelle alliance, afin que, la mort étant intervenue pour le rachat des transgressions commises sous la première alliance, ceux qui ont été appelés reçoivent l'héritage éternel qui leur a été promis.

16 F or where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it.

Car là où il y a un testament, il est nécessaire que la mort du testateur soit constatée.

17 F or a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while the one who made it lives.

18 T herefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood.

Il fit pareillement l'aspersion avec le sang sur le tabernacle et sur tous les ustensiles du culte.

22 A nd according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Et presque tout, d'après la loi, est purifié avec du sang, et sans effusion de sang il n'y a pas de pardon.

23 T herefore it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

26 O therwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

autrement, il aurait fallu qu'il eût souffert plusieurs fois depuis la création du monde, tandis que maintenant, à la fin des siècles, il a paru une seul fois pour abolir le péché par son sacrifice.

27 A nd inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,

Et comme il est réservé aux hommes de mourir une seul fois, après quoi vient le jugement,

28 s o Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

de même Christ, qui s'est offert une seul fois pour porter les péchés de plusieurs, apparaîtra sans péché une seconde fois à ceux qui l'attendent pour leur salut.
