1 J esus knew the proud religious law-keepers had heard He was making and baptizing more followers than John.

Os fariseus ouviram falar que Jesus estava fazendo e batizando mais discípulos do que João,

2 J esus did not baptize anyone Himself but His followers did.

embora não fosse Jesus quem batizasse, mas os seus discípulos.

3 T hen Jesus went from the country of Judea to the country of Galilee.

Quando o Senhor ficou sabendo disso, saiu da Judéia e voltou uma vez mais à Galiléia.

4 H e had to go through the country of Samaria.

Era-lhe necessário passar por Samaria.

5 S o He came to a town in Samaria called Sycar. It was near the piece of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

Assim, chegou a uma cidade de Samaria, chamada Sicar, perto das terras que Jacó dera a seu filho José.

6 J acob’s well was there. Jesus was tired from traveling so He sat down just as He was by the well. It was about noon.

Havia ali o poço de Jacó. Jesus, cansado da viagem, sentou-se à beira do poço. Isto se deu por volta do meio-dia.

7 A woman of Samaria came to get water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”

Nisso veio uma mulher samaritana tirar água. Disse-lhe Jesus: “Dê-me um pouco de água”.

8 H is followers had gone to the town to buy food.

(Os seus discípulos tinham ido à cidade comprar comida.)

9 T he woman of Samaria said to Him, “You are a Jew. I am of Samaria. Why do You ask me for a drink when the Jews have nothing to do with the people of Samaria?”

A mulher samaritana lhe perguntou: “Como o senhor, sendo judeu, pede a mim, uma samaritana, água para beber?” (Pois os judeus não se dão bem com os samaritanos. )

10 J esus said to her, “You do not know what God has to give. You do not know Who said to you, ‘Give Me a drink.’ If you knew, you would have asked Him. He would have given you living water.”

Jesus lhe respondeu: “Se você conhecesse o dom de Deus e quem lhe está pedindo água, você lhe teria pedido e ele lhe teria dado água viva”.

11 T he woman said to Him, “Sir, the well is deep. You have nothing to get water with. Where will You get the living water?

Disse a mulher: “O senhor não tem com que tirar água, e o poço é fundo. Onde pode conseguir essa água viva?

12 A re You greater than our early father Jacob? He gave us the well. He and his children and his cattle drank from it.” Jesus Tells of the Living Water

Acaso o senhor é maior do que o nosso pai Jacó, que nos deu o poço, do qual ele mesmo bebeu, bem como seus filhos e seu gado?”

13 J esus said to her, “Whoever drinks this water will be thirsty again.

Jesus respondeu: “Quem beber desta água terá sede outra vez,

14 W hoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty. The water that I will give him will become in him a well of life that lasts forever.”

mas quem beber da água que eu lhe der nunca mais terá sede. Ao contrário, a água que eu lhe der se tornará nele uma fonte de água a jorrar para a vida eterna”.

15 T he woman said, “Sir, give me this water so I will never be thirsty. Then I will not have to come all this way for water.” The True Kind of Worship

A mulher lhe disse: “Senhor, dê-me dessa água, para que eu não tenha mais sede, nem precise voltar aqui para tirar água”.

16 J esus said to her, “Go call your husband and come back.”

Ele lhe disse: “Vá, chame o seu marido e volte”.

17 T he woman said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said, “You told the truth when you said, ‘I have no husband.’

“Não tenho marido”, respondeu ela. Disse-lhe Jesus: “Você falou corretamente, dizendo que não tem marido.

18 Y ou have had five husbands. The one you have now is not your husband. You told the truth.”

O fato é que você já teve cinco; e o homem com quem agora vive não é seu marido. O que você acabou de dizer é verdade”.

19 T he woman said to Him, “Sir, I think You are a person Who speaks for God.

Disse a mulher: “Senhor, vejo que é profeta.

20 O ur early fathers worshiped on this mountain. You Jews say Jerusalem is the place where men should worship.”

Nossos antepassados adoraram neste monte, mas vocês, judeus, dizem que Jerusalém é o lugar onde se deve adorar”.

21 J esus said to her, “Woman, believe Me. The time is coming when you will not worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

Jesus declarou: “Creia em mim, mulher: está próxima a hora em que vocês não adorarão o Pai nem neste monte, nem em Jerusalém.

22 Y ou people do not know what you worship. We Jews know what we worship. It is through the Jews that men are saved from the punishment of their sins.

Vocês, samaritanos, adoram o que não conhecem; nós adoramos o que conhecemos, pois a salvação vem dos judeus.

23 T he time is coming, yes, it is here now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father wants that kind of worshipers.

No entanto, está chegando a hora, e de fato já chegou, em que os verdadeiros adoradores adorarão o Pai em espírito e em verdade. São estes os adoradores que o Pai procura.

24 G od is Spirit. Those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” Jesus Is the One the Jews Are Looking For

Deus é espírito, e é necessário que os seus adoradores o adorem em espírito e em verdade”.

25 T he woman said to Him, “I know the Jews are looking for One Who is coming. He is called the Christ. When He comes, He will tell us everything.”

Disse a mulher: “Eu sei que o Messias (chamado Cristo) está para vir. Quando ele vier, explicará tudo para nós”.

26 J esus said to her, “I am the Christ, the One talking with you!”

Então Jesus declarou: “Eu sou o Messias! Eu, que estou falando com você”. Os Discípulos Voltam da Cidade

27 R ight then the followers came back and were surprised and wondered about finding Him talking with a woman. But no one said, “What do You want?” or, “Why are You talking with her?”

Naquele momento os seus discípulos voltaram e ficaram surpresos ao encontrá-lo conversando com uma mulher. Mas ninguém perguntou: “Que queres saber?” ou: “Por que estás conversando com ela?”

28 T he woman left her water jar and went into the town. She said to the men,

Então, deixando o seu cântaro, a mulher voltou à cidade e disse ao povo:

29 “ Come and see a Man Who told me everything I ever did! Can this be the Christ?”

“Venham ver um homem que me disse tudo o que tenho feito. Será que ele não é o Cristo?”

30 T hey went out of town and came to Him. Jesus Tells Them of a New Kind of Food

Então saíram da cidade e foram para onde ele estava.

31 D uring this time His followers were saying to Him, “Teacher, eat something.”

Enquanto isso, os discípulos insistiam com ele: “Mestre, come alguma coisa”.

32 H e said, “I have food to eat that you do not know of.”

Mas ele lhes disse: “Tenho algo para comer que vocês não conhecem”.

33 T he followers said to each other, “Has someone taken food to Him?”

Então os seus discípulos disseram uns aos outros: “Será que alguém lhe trouxe comida?”

34 J esus said, “My food is to do what God wants Me to do and to finish His work.

Disse Jesus: “A minha comida é fazer a vontade daquele que me enviou e concluir a sua obra.

35 D o you not say, ‘It is four months yet until the time to gather grain’? Listen! I say to you, open your eyes and look at the fields. They are white now and waiting for the grain to be gathered in.

Vocês não dizem: ‘Daqui a quatro meses haverá a colheita’? Eu lhes digo: Abram os olhos e vejam os campos! Eles estão maduros para a colheita.

36 T he one who gathers gets his pay. He gathers fruit that lasts forever. The one who plants and the one who gathers will have joy together.

Aquele que colhe já recebe o seu salário e colhe fruto para a vida eterna, de forma que se alegram juntos o que semeia e o que colhe.

37 T hese words are true, ‘One man plants and another man gathers.’

Assim é verdadeiro o ditado: ‘Um semeia, e outro colhe’.

38 I sent you to gather where you have not planted. Others have planted and you have come along to gather in their fruit.” The People of Samaria Believe in Jesus

Eu os enviei para colherem o que vocês não cultivaram. Outros realizaram o trabalho árduo, e vocês vieram a usufruir do trabalho deles”. Muitos Samaritanos Crêem

39 M any people in that town of Samaria believed in Jesus because of what the woman said about Him. She said, “He told me everything I ever did.”

Muitos samaritanos daquela cidade creram nele por causa do seguinte testemunho dado pela mulher: “Ele me disse tudo o que tenho feito”.

40 S o the people of Samaria came to Him. They asked Him to stay with them. Jesus stayed there two days.

Assim, quando se aproximaram dele, os samaritanos insistiram em que ficasse com eles, e ele ficou dois dias.

41 M any more people believed because of what He said.

E por causa da sua palavra, muitos outros creram.

42 T hey said to the woman, “Now we believe! It is no longer because of what you said about Jesus but we have heard Him ourselves. We know, for sure, that He is the Christ, the One Who saves men of this world from the punishment of their sins.” Jesus Goes to Galilee

E disseram à mulher: “Agora cremos não somente por causa do que você disse, pois nós mesmos o ouvimos e sabemos que este é realmente o Salvador do mundo”. Jesus Cura o Filho de um Oficial

43 T wo days later He went from there and came to the country of Galilee.

Depois daqueles dois dias, ele partiu para a Galiléia.

44 J esus Himself said that no one who speaks for God is respected in his own country.

(O próprio Jesus tinha afirmado que nenhum profeta tem honra em sua própria terra.)

45 W hen He came to Galilee, the people there were glad. They had seen all the things He did in Jerusalem. It was at the time of the special religious gathering to remember how the Jews left Egypt. They had been there also. Jesus Heals the Dying Boy in Capernaum

Quando chegou à Galiléia, os galileus deram-lhe boas-vindas. Eles tinham visto tudo o que ele fizera em Jerusalém, por ocasião da festa da Páscoa, pois também haviam estado lá.

46 J esus came again to the town of Cana of Galilee where He had made water into wine. A man who worked with the king had a son who was sick in the city of Capernaum.

Mais uma vez ele visitou Caná da Galiléia, onde tinha transformado água em vinho. E havia ali um oficial do rei, cujo filho estava doente em Cafarnaum.

47 T his man went to Jesus. He had heard that Jesus had come from the country of Judea to Galilee. The man asked Jesus if He would go to Capernaum and heal his son who was dying.

Quando ele ouviu falar que Jesus tinha chegado à Galiléia, vindo da Judéia, procurou-o e suplicou-lhe que fosse curar seu filho, que estava à beira da morte.

48 T hen Jesus said to him, “Unless you see special things and powerful works done, you will not believe.”

Disse-lhe Jesus: “Se vocês não virem sinais e maravilhas, nunca crerão”.

49 T he man said to Him, “Sir, come with me before my son dies.”

O oficial do rei disse: “Senhor, vem, antes que o meu filho morra!”

50 J esus said to him, “Go your way. Your son will live.” The man put his trust in what Jesus said and left.

Jesus respondeu: “Pode ir. O seu filho continuará vivo”. O homem confiou na palavra de Jesus e partiu.

51 A s he was on his way home, his servants met him. They said to him, “Your son is living!”

Estando ele ainda a caminho, seus servos vieram ao seu encontro com notícias de que o menino estava vivo.

52 H e asked them what time his boy began to get well. They said to him, “Yesterday at one o’clock the sickness left.”

Quando perguntou a que horas o seu filho tinha melhorado, eles lhe disseram: “A febre o deixou ontem, à uma hora da tarde ”.

53 T he father knew it was the time Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” He and everyone in his house put their trust in Jesus.

Então o pai constatou que aquela fora exatamente a hora em que Jesus lhe dissera: “O seu filho continuará vivo”. Assim, creram ele e todos os de sua casa.

54 T his was the second powerful work that Jesus did after He came from the country of Judea to the country of Galilee.

Esse foi o segundo sinal miraculoso que Jesus realizou, depois que veio da Judéia para a Galiléia.
