1 ¶ Y aquel día, saliendo Jesús de casa, se sentó junto al mar.

That day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting by the sea.

2 Y se le acercó a él gran multitud; y entrando él en el barco, se sentó, y toda la multitud estaba a la ribera.

And large crowds gathered to Him, so He got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd was standing on the beach.

3 Y les habló muchas cosas por parábolas, diciendo: He aquí el que sembraba salió a sembrar.

And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow;

4 Y sembrando, parte de la simiente cayó junto al camino; y vinieron las aves, y la comieron.

and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up.

5 Y parte cayó en pedregales, donde no tenía mucha tierra; y nació luego, porque no tenía profundidad de tierra;

Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil.

6 m as saliendo el sol, se quemó; y se secó, porque no tenía raíz.

But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

7 Y parte cayó entre espinos; y los espinos crecieron, y la ahogaron.

Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out.

8 Y parte cayó en buena tierra, y dio fruto: uno a ciento, y otro a sesenta, y otro a treinta.

And others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.

9 Q uien tiene oídos para oír, oiga.

He who has ears, let him hear.” An Explanation

10 E ntonces, acercándose los discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Por qué les hablas por parábolas?

And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”

11 Y él respondiendo, les dijo: Porque a vosotros es concedido saber los misterios del Reino de los cielos; mas a ellos no les es concedido.

Jesus answered them, “ To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted.

12 P orque a cualquiera que tiene, se le dará, y tendrá en abundancia; pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.

For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

13 P or eso les hablo por parábolas; porque viendo no ven, y oyendo no oyen, ni entienden.

Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

14 D e manera que se cumple en ellos la profecía de Isaías, que dice: De oído oiréis, y no entenderéis; y viendo veréis, y no miraréis.

In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, ‘ You will keep on hearing, but will not understand; You will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;

15 P orque el corazón de este pueblo está engrosado, y con los oídos oyen pesadamente, y con sus ojos guiñan; para que no vean con los ojos, y oigan con los oídos, y del corazón entiendan, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.

For the heart of this people has become dull, With their ears they scarcely hear, And they have closed their eyes, Otherwise they would see with their eyes, Hear with their ears, And understand with their heart and return, And I would heal them.’

16 M as bienaventurados vuestros ojos, porque ven; y vuestros oídos, porque oyen.

But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.

17 P orque de cierto os digo, que muchos profetas y justos desearon ver lo que veis, y no lo vieron; y oír lo que oís, y no lo oyeron.

For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it. The Sower Explained

18 O íd, pues, vosotros la parábola del que siembra:

“ Hear then the parable of the sower.

19 O yendo cualquiera la Palabra del Reino, y no entendiéndola, viene el Malo, y arrebata lo que fue sembrado en su corazón; éste es el que fue sembrado junto al camino.

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.

20 Y el que fue sembrado en pedregales, éste es el que oye la palabra, y luego la recibe con gozo.

The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;

21 M as no tiene raíz en sí, antes es temporal; que venida la aflicción o la persecución por la Palabra, luego se ofende.

yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away.

22 Y el que fue sembrado entre espinos, éste es el que oye la Palabra; pero la congoja de este siglo y el engaño de las riquezas, ahogan la Palabra, y se hace infructuosa.

And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

23 M as el que fue sembrado en buena tierra, éste es el que oye y entiende la Palabra, y el que lleva el fruto; y produce uno a ciento, y otro a sesenta, y otro a treinta por uno.

And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.” Tares among Wheat

24 ¶ Otra parábola les propuso, diciendo: El Reino de los cielos es semejante al hombre que siembra buena simiente en su campo;

Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, “ The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.

25 m as durmiendo los hombres, vino su enemigo, y sembró cizaña entre el trigo, y se fue.

But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.

26 Y cuando salió en hierba e hizo fruto, entonces apareció también la cizaña.

But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also.

27 Y acercándose los siervos del padre de familia, le dijeron: Señor, ¿no sembraste buena simiente en tu campo? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene cizaña?

The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’

28 Y él les dijo: El hombre enemigo ha hecho esto. Y los siervos le dijeron: ¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos y la cojamos?

And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this!’ The slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’

29 Y él dijo: No; porque cogiendo la cizaña, no arranquéis también con ella el trigo.

But he said, ‘No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them.

30 D ejad crecer juntamente lo uno y lo otro hasta la siega; y al tiempo de la siega yo diré a los segadores: Coged primero la cizaña, y atadla en manojos para quemarla; mas recoged el trigo en mi alfolí.

Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” The Mustard Seed

31 O tra parábola les propuso, diciendo: El Reino de los cielos es semejante a un grano de mostaza, que tomándolo un hombre lo sembró en su campo;

He presented another parable to them, saying, “ The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field;

32 e l cual a la verdad es la más pequeña de todas las simientes; mas cuando ha crecido, es la mayor de las hortalizas, y se hace árbol, que vienen las aves del cielo y hacen nidos en sus ramas.

and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.” The Leaven

33 O tra parábola les dijo: El Reino de los cielos es semejante a la levadura que tomándola la mujer, la esconde en tres medidas de harina, hasta que todo se leude.

He spoke another parable to them, “ The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened.”

34 T odo esto habló Jesús por parábolas a la multitud; y nada les habló sin parábolas.

All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable.

35 P ara que se cumpliera lo que fue dicho por el profeta, que dijo: Abriré en parábolas mi boca; Rebosaré cosas escondidas desde la fundación del mundo.

This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: “ I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world.” The Tares Explained

36 E ntonces, despedida la multitud, Jesús se vino a casa; y acercándose a él sus discípulos, le dijeron: Decláranos la parábola de la cizaña del campo.

Then He left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him and said, “ Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”

37 Y respondiendo él, les dijo: El que siembra la buena simiente es el Hijo del hombre;

And He said, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,

38 y el campo es el mundo; y la buena simiente son los hijos del Reino, y la cizaña son los hijos del malo;

and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one;

39 y el enemigo que la sembró, es el diablo; y la siega es el fin del siglo, y los segadores son los ángeles.

and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels.

40 D e manera que como es cogida la cizaña, y quemada al fuego, así será en el fin de este siglo.

So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age.

41 E nviará el Hijo del hombre a sus ángeles, y cogerán de su Reino todos los estorbos, y a los que hacen iniquidad,

The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness,

42 y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.

and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

43 E ntonces los justos resplandecerán como el sol en el Reino de su Padre. El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga.

Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear. Hidden Treasure

44 ¶ También, el Reino de los cielos es semejante al tesoro escondido en el campo; el cual hallado, el hombre lo encubre, y de gozo de ello va, y vende todo lo que tiene, y compra aquel campo.

“ The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. A Costly Pearl

45 T ambién el Reino de los cielos es semejante al hombre tratante, que busca buenas perlas;

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls,

46 q ue hallando una preciosa perla, fue y vendió todo lo que tenía, y la compró.

and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it. A Dragnet

47 T ambién el Reino de los cielos es semejante a la red, que echada en el mar, coge de toda suerte de peces;

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea, and gathering fish of every kind;

48 l a cual estando llena, la sacaron a la orilla; y sentados, cogieron lo bueno en vasos, y lo malo echaron fuera.

and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away.

49 A sí será al fin del siglo: saldrán los ángeles, y apartarán a los malos de entre los justos,

So it will be at the end of the age; the angels will come forth and take out the wicked from among the righteous,

50 Y los echarán en el horno de fuego. Allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.

and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

51 L es dijo Jesús: ¿Habéis entendido todas estas cosas? Ellos responden: Sí, Señor.

“Have you understood all these things?” They said to Him, “Yes.”

52 Y él les dijo: Por eso todo escriba docto en el Reino de los cielos, es semejante a un padre de familia, que saca de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas viejas.

And Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.” Jesus Revisits Nazareth

53 ¶ Y aconteció que acabando Jesús estas parábolas, pasó de allí.

When Jesus had finished these parables, He departed from there.

54 Y venido a su tierra, les enseñó en la sinagoga de ellos, de tal manera que ellos estaban fuera de sí, y decían: ¿De dónde tiene éste esta sabiduría, y estas maravillas?

He came to His hometown and began teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?

55 ¿ No es éste el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama su madre María, y sus hermanos Jacobo y José, y Simón, y Judas?

Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?

56 ¿ Y no están todas sus hermanas con nosotros? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene éste todo esto?

And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?”

57 Y se escandalizaban de él. Mas Jesús les dijo: No hay profeta sin honra, sino en su tierra y en su casa.

And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “ A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.”

58 Y no hizo allí muchas maravillas, a causa de la incredulidad de ellos.

And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.
