1 ¶ Después de esto aconteció, que David hirió a los filisteos, y los humilló; y tomó David a Meteg-ama de mano de los filisteos.

Now after this it came about that David defeated the Philistines and subdued them; and David took control of the chief city from the hand of the Philistines.

2 H irió también a los de Moab, y los midió con cordel, haciéndolos echar por tierra; y los midió en dos cordeles, el uno para muerte, y otro cordel entero para vida; y fueron los moabitas siervos llevando presente.

He defeated Moab, and measured them with the line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.

3 A simismo hirió David a Hadad-ezer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba, yendo él a extender su término hasta el río Eufrates.

Then David defeated Hadadezer, the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as he went to restore his rule at the River.

4 Y tomó David de ellos mil setecientos de a caballo, y veinte mil hombres de a pie; y desjarretó David los caballos de todos los carros, excepto cien carros de ellos que reservó.

David captured from him 1, 700 horsemen and 20, 000 foot soldiers; and David hamstrung the chariot horses, but reserved enough of them for 100 chariots.

5 Y vinieron los sirios de Damasco a dar ayuda a Hadad-ezer rey de Soba; y David hirió de los Sirios veintidós mil hombres.

When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David killed 22, 000 Arameans.

6 P uso luego David guarnición en Siria, la de Damasco, y fueron los Sirios siervos de David llevando presente. Y el SEÑOR salvó a David por dondequiera que fue.

Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.

7 Y tomó David los escudos de oro que traían los siervos de Hadad-ezer, y los llevó a Jerusalén.

David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.

8 A simismo de Beta y de Beerot, ciudades de Hadad-ezer, tomó el rey David gran cantidad de bronce.

From Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a very large amount of bronze.

9 ¶ Entonces oyendo Toi, rey de Hamat, que David había derrotado todo el ejército de Hadad-ezer,

Now when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer,

10 e nvió Toi a Joram su hijo al rey David, a saludarle pacíficamente y a bendecirle, porque había peleado con Hadad-ezer y lo había vencido; porque Toi era enemigo de Hadad-ezer. Y Joram llevaba en su mano vasos de plata, y vasos de oro, y de bronce;

Toi sent Joram his son to King David to greet him and bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles of silver, of gold and of bronze.

11 l os cuales el rey David dedicó al SEÑOR, con el oro y la plata que tenía dedicado de todos los gentiles que había sometido;

King David also dedicated these to the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated from all the nations which he had subdued:

12 d e los sirios, de los moabitas, de los amonitas, de los filisteos, de los amalecitas, y del despojo de Hadad-ezer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba.

from Aram and Moab and the sons of Ammon and the Philistines and Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 Y ganó David fama cuando, volviendo de la derrota de los Sirios, hirió dieciocho mil hombres en el valle de la sal.

So David made a name for himself when he returned from killing 18, 000 Arameans in the Valley of Salt.

14 A simismo puso David guarnición en Edom, por toda Edom puso guarnición; y todos los idumeos fueron siervos de David. Y el SEÑOR salvó a David por dondequiera que fue.

He put garrisons in Edom. In all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.

15 ¶ Y reinó David sobre todo Israel; y hacía David derecho y justicia a todo su pueblo.

So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered justice and righteousness for all his people.

16 Y Joab hijo de Sarvia era general de su ejército; y Josafat hijo de Ahilud, escritor de crónicas;

Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder.

17 y Sadoc hijo de Ahitob, y Ahimelec hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes; y Seraías era escriba;

Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and Seraiah was secretary.

18 y Benaía hijo de Joiada, estaba a cargo de los cereteos y peleteos; y los hijos de David eran sacerdotes.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief ministers.
