1 N ot unto us, O Jehovah, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy loving-kindness and for thy truth's sake.

2 W herefore should the nations say, Where then is their God?

Por que perguntariam as nações: Onde está o seu Deus?

3 B ut our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he pleased.

Mas o nosso Deus está nos céus; ele faz tudo o que lhe apraz.

4 T heir idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands:

Os ídolos deles são prata e ouro, obra das mãos do homem.

5 T hey have a mouth, and they speak not; eyes have they, and they see not;

Têm boca, mas não falam; têm olhos, mas não vêem;

6 T hey have ears, and they hear not; a nose have they, and they smell not;

têm ouvidos, mas não ouvem; têm nariz, mas não cheiram;

7 T hey have hands, and they handle not; feet have they, and they walk not; they give no sound through their throat.

têm mãos, mas não apalpam; têm pés, mas não andam; nem som algum sai da sua garganta.

8 T hey that make them are like unto them,—every one that confideth in them.

Semelhantes a eles sejam os que fazem, e todos os que neles confiam.

9 O Israel, confide thou in Jehovah: he is their help and their shield.

Confia, ó Israel, no Senhor; ele é seu auxílio e seu escudo.

10 H ouse of Aaron, confide in Jehovah: he is their help and their shield.

Casa de Arão, confia no Senhor; ele é seu auxílio e seu escudo.

11 Y e that fear Jehovah, confide in Jehovah: he is their help and their shield.

Vós, os que temeis ao Senhor, confiai no Senhor; ele é seu auxílio e seu escudo.

12 J ehovah hath been mindful of us: he will bless, he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron;

O Senhor tem-se lembrado de nós, abençoar-nos-á; abençoará a casa de Israel; abençoará a casa de Arão;

13 H e will bless them that fear Jehovah, both the small and the great.

abençoará os que temem ao Senhor, tanto pequenos como grandes.

14 J ehovah will add unto you more, unto you and unto your children.

Aumente-vos o Senhor cada vez mais, a vós e a vossos filhos.

15 Y e are blessed of Jehovah, who made the heavens and the earth.

Sede vós benditos do Senhor, que fez os céus e a terra.

16 T he heavens are the heavens of Jehovah, but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

Os céus são os céus do Senhor, mas a terra, deu-a ele aos filhos dos homens.

17 T he dead praise not Jah, neither any that go down into silence;

Os mortos não louvam ao Senhor, nem os que descem ao silêncio;

18 B ut we will bless Jah from this time forth and for evermore. Hallelujah!

nós, porém, bendiremos ao Senhor, desde agora e para sempre. Louvai ao Senhor.
