1 A nd David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

Ora, sendo Davi já velho e cheio de dias, fez Salomão, seu filho, rei sobre Israel.

2 A nd he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

E reuniu todos os chefes de Israel, como também os sacerdotes e levitas.

3 A nd the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward; and their number, by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.

Foram contados os levitas de trinta anos para cima; e foi o número deles, segundo o seu registo, trinta e oito mil homens.

4 O f these, twenty-four thousand were to preside over the work of the house of Jehovah; and six thousand were officers and judges;

Deste número vinte e quatro mil promoverão a obra da casa do Senhor; seis mil servirão como oficiais e juízes;

5 a nd four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments which I made, to praise.

quatro mil como porteiros; e quatro mil para louvarem ao Senhor com os instrumentos, que eu fiz para o louvar, disse Davi.

6 A nd David divided them into courses according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

Davi os repartiu por turmas segundo os filhos de Levi: Gérsom, Coate e Merári.

7 O f the Gershonites: Laadan and Shimei.

Dos gersonitas: Ladã e Simei.

8 T he sons of Laadan: the head was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

Os filhos de Ladã: Jeiel o chefe, Zetão e Joel, três.

9 T he sons of Shimei: Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief fathers of Laadan.

Os filhos de Simei: Selomite, Haziel e Arã, três; estes foram os chefes das casas paternas de Ladã.

10 A nd the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Ziza, and Jeush, and Beriah. These were the four sons of Shimei.

Os filhos de Simei: Jaate, Zina, Jeús e Berias; estes foram os filhos de Simei, quatro.

11 A nd Jahath was the head, and Ziza the second; and Jeush and Beriah had not many sons: as father's house, therefore, they were reckoned as one.

Jaate era o chefe, e Ziza o segundo. Mas Jeús e Berias não tiveram muitos filhos; pelo que estes, contados juntos, se tornaram uma só casa paterna.

12 T he sons of Kohath: Amram, Jizhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

Os filhos de Coate: Anrão, Izar, Hebrom e Uziel, quatro.

13 T he sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was separated, that he should be hallowed as most holy, he and his sons for ever, to offer before Jehovah, to do service to him, and to bless in his name for ever.

Os filhos de Anrão: Arão e Moisés. Arão foi separado para consagrar as coisas santíssimas, ele e seus filhos, eternamente para queimarem incenso diante do Senhor, e o servirem, e pronunciarem bençãos em nome de Deus para sempre.

14 — And as to Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.

Mas quanto a Moisés, homem de Deus, seus filhos foram contados entre os da tribo de Davi.

15 T he sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.

Os filhos de Moisés: Gerson e Eliézer.

16 T he sons of Gershom: Shebuel the head.

De Gérson: Sebuel o chefe.

17 A nd the sons of Eliezer: Rehabiah the head; and Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

De Eliézer: Reabias o chefe; e Eliézer não teve outros filhos; porém os filhos de Reabias foram muito numerosos.

18 — The sons of Jizhar: Shelomith the head.

De Izar: Selomite o chefe.

19 T he sons of Hebron: Jeriah the head, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

Os filhos: de Hebrom: Jerias o chefe, Amarias o segundo, Jaaziel o terceiro, e Jecameão o quarto.

20 T he sons of Uzziel: Micah the head, and Jishijah the second.

Os filhos de Uziel: Mica o chefe. Issias o segundo.

21 T he sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

Os filhos de Merári: Mali e Musi. Os filhos de Mali: Eleazar e Quis.

22 A nd Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters; and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.

Eleazar morreu, não tendo filhos, mas tão somente filhas; e os filhos de Quis, seus irmãos, tomaram-nas por mulheres.

23 T he sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

Os filhos de Musi: Mali, Eder e Jerimote, três.

24 T hese were the sons of Levi according to their fathers' houses, the chief fathers, as they were reckoned, by number of names by their polls, who did the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, from twenty years old and upward.

Esses são os filhos de Levi segundo as suas casas paternas, isto é, segundo os chefes das casas paternas, conforme o número dos que foram registrados pelos seus: nomes, individualmente, da idade de vinte anos para cima, os quais trabalhavam no serviço da casa do Senhor.

25 F or David said, Jehovah the God of Israel has given rest to his people, and he will dwell in Jerusalem for ever;

Pois Davi disse: O Senhor Deus de Israel deu repouso ao seu povo; e ele habita em Jerusalém para sempre.

26 a nd the Levites also have no more to carry the tabernacle, nor any of its vessels for its service.

Também os levitas não terão mais de levar o tabernáculo e todos os objetos pertencentes ao serviço do mesmo.

27 F or by the last words of David was this,—the numbering of the sons of Levi from twenty years old and upward.

Eis porque, segundo as ultimas palavras de Davi, foram contados os levitas da idade de vinte anos para cima.

28 F or their place was by the side of the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, over the courts, and over the chambers, and over the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

Porque o seu cargo seria o de assistirem aos filhos de Arão no serviço da casa do Senhor, nos átrios, e nas câmaras, e na purificação de todas as coisas sagradas, e em qualquer trabalho para o serviço da casa de Deus,

29 a nd for the loaves to be set in rows, and for the fine flour for the oblation, and for the unleavened cakes, and for the pan, and for that which is saturated, and for all measure of capacity and size;

cuidando dos pães da proposição, e da flor de farinha para a oferta de cereais, quer seja de bolos ázimos, quer seja do que se assa na panela, quer seja do que é misturado com azeite, e de toda sorte de medidas e pesos;

30 a nd to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah, and likewise at even;

e de estarem cada manhã em pé para render graças e louvor ao Senhor, e semelhantemente ã tarde.

31 a nd for all burnt-offerings offered up to Jehovah on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the ordinance concerning them, continually, before Jehovah;

e oferecerem continuamente perante o Senhor todos os holocaustos, nos sábados, nas luas novas e nas festas fixas, segundo o número ordenado.

32 a nd they kept the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of Jehovah.

Também teriam a seu cargo a tenda da revelação, o lugar santo, e os filhos de Arão, seus irmãos, no serviço da casa do Senhor.
