1 I ată-i pe cei care s-au dus la David în Ţiklag, în timp ce acesta se ţinea departe de faţa lui Saul, fiul lui Chiş (ei au fost dintre vitejii care l-au ajutat în război;

Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men, his helpers in war.

2 a ceştia mânuiau arcul şi puteau să arunce pietre sau să tragă săgeţi cu arcul atât cu mâna dreaptă, cât şi cu mâna stângă; erau beniamiţi dintre rudele lui Saul):

They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in slinging stones and in shooting arrows from the bow: they were of Saul's brethren of Benjamin.

3 c ăpetenia Ahiezer şi Ioaş – fii ai lui Şemaa din Ghiva; Ieziel şi Pelet – fiii lui Azmavet; Beraca şi Iehu din Anatot;

The chief was Ahiezer; then Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, and Jeziel, and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth, and Beracah, and Jehu the Anathothite,

4 I şmaia din Ghivon, viteaz între cei treizeci şi conducător peste treizeci; Ieremia, Iahaziel, Iohanan şi Iozavad din Ghedera;

and Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty, and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Jozabad the Gederathite,

5 h arufiţii – Eluzai, Ierimot, Bealia, Şemaria şi Şefatia;

Eluzai, and Jerimoth, and Bealiah, and Shemariah, and Shephatiah the Haruphite,

6 k orahiţii – Elkana, Işia, Azarel, Ioezer, Iaşobeam;

Elkanah, and Isshiah, and Azarel, and Joezer, and Jashobeam, the Korahites,

7 I oela şi Zebadia, fii ai lui Ieroham din Ghedor.

and Joelah, and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham of Gedor.

8 D intre gadiţi, s-au alăturat lui David în fortăreaţa din pustie războinici viteji, luptători aleşi, care mânuiau scutul şi lancea, erau neînfricaţi ca leii şi iuţi precum gazelele pe munţi.

And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David to the stronghold in the wilderness, mighty men of valor, men trained for war, that could handle shield and spear; whose faces were like the faces of lions, and they were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;

9 E zer era căpetenia, Obadia – al doilea, Eliab – al treilea,

Ezer the chief, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,

10 M işmana – al patrulea, Ieremia – al cincilea,

Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,

11 A tai – al şaselea, Eliel – al şaptelea,

Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,

12 I ohanan – al optulea, Elzabad – al nouălea,

Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,

13 I eremia – al zecelea, Macbanai – al unsprezecelea.

Jeremiah the tenth, Machbannai the eleventh.

14 A ceşti gadiţi au fost căpeteniile oştirii: cel mai neînsemnat valora cât o sută de oameni, cel mai renumit – cât o mie.

These of the sons of Gad were captains of the host: he that was least was equal to a hundred, and the greatest to a thousand.

15 A ceştia sunt cei ce au trecut Iordanul în prima lună a anului, atunci când acesta se revarsă peste maluri şi i-au izgonit pe toţi cei din vale, înspre răsărit şi înspre apus.

These are they that went over the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed all its banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west.

16 D e asemenea, şi dintre urmaşii lui Beniamin şi ai lui Iuda au venit la David la fortăreaţă.

And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the stronghold unto David.

17 D avid le-a ieşit în întâmpinare şi i-a îndemnat astfel: – Dacă veniţi la mine cu gânduri bune, ca să mă ajutaţi, atunci inima mea se va uni cu voi, dar dacă vreţi să mă trădaţi duşmanilor mei, deşi nu sunt vinovat de nici o nelegiuire, Dumnezeul strămoşilor noştri să vadă şi să judece!

And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, my heart shall be knit unto you; but if ye be come to betray me to mine adversaries, seeing there is no wrong in my hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

18 A tunci Amasai, căpetenia celor treizeci, a fost îmbrăcat cu Duhul şi a zis: – Suntem de partea ta, David! Suntem cu tine, fiu al lui Işai! Pace! Pace ţie şi pace celor ce te ajută! Căci Însuşi Dumnezeul tău te-a ajutat! David i-a primit şi i-a pus căpetenii peste ceată.

Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thy helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

19 Ş i dintre manasiţi au trecut de partea lui David, atunci când el i-a însoţit pe filisteni la luptă împotriva lui Saul. Ei însă nu le-au fost de ajutor filistenilor, fiindcă domnitorii acestora au hotărât să-l trimită înapoi pe David, zicând: „Vom plăti cu capetele noastre dacă va trece de partea lui Saul, stăpânul lui!“

Of Manasseh also there fell away some to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not; for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall away to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.

20 C ând David a plecat înspre Ţiklag, au trecut de partea lui manasiţii Adnah, Iozabad, Iediael, Mihail, Iozabad, Elihu şi Ţiletai, toţi fiind căpetenii ale miilor care erau în Manase.

As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zillethai, captains of thousands that were of Manasseh.

21 E i l-au ajutat împotriva cetei de jefuitori, căci toţi erau războinici viteji şi au ajuns conducători în oştire.

And they helped David against the band of rovers: for they were all mighty men of valor, and were captains in the host.

22 Î n fiecare zi veneau la David oameni ca să-l ajute, până când tabăra lui a ajuns ca tabăra lui Dumnezeu.

For from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great host, like the host of God.

23 I ată numărul căpeteniilor înarmate pentru război, care au venit la David, în Hebron, ca să întoarcă spre el regatul lui Saul, după Cuvântul Domnului:

And these are the numbers of the heads of them that were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of Jehovah.

24 d intre urmaşii lui Iuda, care purtau scut şi lance, au fost şase mii opt sute de oameni înarmaţi pentru război;

The children of Judah that bare shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, armed for war.

25 d intre simeoniţi, războinici viteji, au fost şapte mii o sută;

Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valor for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.

26 d intre leviţi, au fost patru mii şase sute;

Of the children of Levi four thousand and six hundred.

27 I ehoiada, conducătorul clanului lui Aaron, împreună cu trei mii şapte sute de oameni;

And Jehoiada was the leader of the house of Aaron; and with him were three thousand and seven hundred,

28 Ţ adok, un războinic tânăr şi viteaz, împreună cu douăzeci şi două de căpetenii din familia sa;

and Zadok, a young man mighty of valor, and of his father's house twenty and two captains.

29 d intre beniamiţi, rude ale lui Saul, au fost trei mii (până atunci majoritatea se păstrase loiali familiei lui Saul);

And of the children of Benjamin, the brethren of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul.

30 d intre efraimiţi, au fost douăzeci de mii opt sute de războinici viteji, bărbaţi renumiţi în familiile lor;

And of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers' houses.

31 d in jumătatea seminţiei lui Manase, au fost optsprezece mii, desemnaţi pe nume ca să vină să-l pună rege pe David;

And of the half-tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who were mentioned by name, to come and make David king.

32 d intre isahariţi, cei care au înţeles vremurile, astfel încât Israel să ştie ce trebuie să facă, au fost două sute de căpetenii, precum şi toate rudele acestora aflate sub comanda lor;

And of the children of Issachar, men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

33 d in Zabulon, cei în stare să meargă la oaste, instruiţi să lupte cu toate armele de război, au fost cincizeci de mii, gata să-l sprijine pe David cu o inimă hotărâtă;

Of Zebulun, such as were able to go out in the host, that could set the battle in array, with all manner of instruments of war, fifty thousand, and that could order the battle array, and were not of double heart.

34 d in Neftali, au fost o mie de căpetenii şi, împreună cu acestea, treizeci şi şapte de mii de oameni înarmaţi cu scut şi suliţă;

And of Naphtali a thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty and seven thousand.

35 d intre daniţi, instruiţi pentru război, au fost douăzeci şi opt de mii şase sute;

And of the Danites that could set the battle in array, twenty and eight thousand and six hundred.

36 d in Aşer, cei în stare să meargă la oaste, instruiţi pentru război, au fost patruzeci de mii;

And of Asher, such as were able to go out in the host, that could set the battle in array, forty thousand.

37 d intre cei care erau dincolo de Iordan, adică dintre rubeniţi, gadiţi şi jumătate din seminţia lui Manase, înarmaţi pentru luptă cu tot felul de arme de război, au fost o sută douăzeci de mii.

And on the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half-tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, a hundred and twenty thousand.

38 T oţi aceşti războinici, care puteau ajuta oştirea, au venit cu gând de pace la Hebron ca să-l pună pe David rege peste tot Israelul. De asemenea, toţi ceilalţi din Israel s-au unit cu ei ca să-l facă pe David rege.

All these being men of war, that could order the battle array, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

39 A u stat acolo, împreună cu David, timp de trei zile, mâncând şi bând, căci cei din poporul lor le pregătiseră masa.

And they were there with David three days, eating and drinking; for their brethren had made preparation for them.

40 C hiar şi vecinii lor, până în ţinutul lui Isahar, al lui Zabulon şi al lui Neftali, au adus mâncare încărcată pe măgari, pe cămile, pe catâri şi pe vite – provizii de făină, turte de smochine şi de stafide, ulei şi vin, vite şi oi din belşug, căci era bucurie în Israel.

Moreover they that were nigh unto them, even as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, victuals of meal, cakes of figs, and clusters of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep in abundance: for there was joy in Israel.
