1 Î n vremea aceea Domnul mi-a zis: «Taie două table de piatră asemeni celor dintâi şi urcă-te la Mine pe munte; să faci şi un chivot din lemn.

At that time Jehovah said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.

2 E u voi scrie pe ele cuvintele care erau pe cele dintâi, pe care tu le-ai spart. Apoi să le pui în chivot.»

And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.

3 A m făcut un chivot din lemn de salcâm, am tăiat două table de piatră asemeni celor dintâi şi am urcat pe munte, având cele două table în mână.

So I made an ark of acacia wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in my hand.

4 D omnul a scris pe table ceea ce a fost scris pe primele, Cele Zece Porunci, care v-au fost spuse pe munte, din mijlocul focului, în ziua adunării. Şi mi le-a dat mie.

And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which Jehovah spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and Jehovah gave them unto me.

5 A poi m-am întors, coborând de pe munte, şi am aşezat tablele în Chivotul pe care l-am făcut, după porunca Domnului, şi acolo au şi rămas.

And I turned and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they are as Jehovah commanded me.

6 ( Israeliţii au plecat din Beerot-Bene-Iaakan la Mosera. Acolo a murit şi a fost înmormântat Aaron, iar în locul lui a slujit ca preot Elazar, fiul său.

(And the children of Israel journeyed from Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.

7 D e acolo au plecat la Gudgoda, iar de la Gudgoda la Iotbata, o regiune bogată în izvoare de apă.

From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of brooks of water.

8 Î n perioada aceea, Domnul a pus deoparte seminţia lui Levi, poruncindu-i să ducă Chivotul Legământului cu Domnul, să stea înaintea Domnului ca să slujească şi să binecuvânteze în Numele Lui. Aceste lucruri le-au făcut până în ziua de azi.

At that time Jehovah set apart the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, to stand before Jehovah to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

9 D e aceea Levi nu are nici un teritoriu şi nici o moştenire împreună cu fraţii săi. Domnul este moştenirea lui, după cum Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, le-a vorbit.)

Wherefore Levi hath no portion nor inheritance with his brethren; Jehovah is his inheritance, according as Jehovah thy God spake unto him.)

10 A m stat pe munte patruzeci de zile şi patruzeci de nopţi, ca şi mai înainte, iar Domnul m-a ascultat din nou şi n-a mai dorit să vă nimicească.

And I stayed in the mount, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights: and Jehovah hearkened unto me that time also; Jehovah would not destroy thee.

11 D upă aceea, Domnul mi-a zis: «Ridică-te şi porneşte în călătorie în fruntea poporului, ca astfel să intre şi să ia în stăpânire ţara pe care am promis-o strămoşilor tăi că le-o voi da.» Esenţa Legii

And Jehovah said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people; and they shall go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.

12 A cum, Israele, ce altceva cere Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, de la voi, decât să vă temeţi de Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, să umblaţi în toate căile Lui, să-L iubiţi şi să-L slujiţi pe Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, din toată inima şi din tot sufletul

And now, Israel, what doth Jehovah thy God require of thee, but to fear Jehovah thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Jehovah thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

13 ş i să păziţi poruncile Domnului şi hotărârile Lui, pe care eu vi le dau astăzi pentru binele vostru?

to keep the commandments of Jehovah, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

14 I ată, ale Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, sunt cerurile şi cerurile cerurilor, pământul şi tot ce este pe el.

Behold, unto Jehovah thy God belongeth heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth, with all that is therein.

15 D omnul s-a ataşat de strămoşii voştri, iubindu-i, dar v-a ales şi pe voi, urmaşii lor, dintre toate neamurile, după cum vedeţi astăzi.

Only Jehovah had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all peoples, as at this day.

16 D e aceea circumcideţi-vă inima şi nu mai fiţi încăpăţânaţi.

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

17 C ăci Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, este Dumnezeul dumnezeilor şi Stăpânul stăpânilor, Dumnezeul cel Mare, Puternic şi Înfricoşător, Care nu este părtinitor şi nu primeşte mită,

For Jehovah your God, he is God of gods, and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the terrible, who regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward.

18 C are face dreptate orfanului şi văduvei şi iubeşte pe străin, oferindu-i pâine şi îmbrăcăminte.

He doth execute justice for the fatherless and widow, and loveth the sojourner, in giving him food and raiment.

19 S ă-l iubiţi pe străin, pentru că şi voi aţi fost străini în Egipt.

Love ye therefore the sojourner; for ye were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

20 T emeţi-vă de Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, şi slujiţi-I. De El să vă ataşaţi şi în Numele Lui să juraţi.

Thou shalt fear Jehovah thy God; him shalt thou serve; and to him shalt thou cleave, and by his name shalt thou swear.

21 E l este slava voastră şi Dumnezeul vostru, Cel Ce a făcut aceste lucruri mari şi înfricoşătoare, pe care ochii voştri le-au văzut.

He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

22 S trămoşii voştri s-au coborât în Egipt în număr de şaptezeci de suflete, dar acum Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, v-a făcut la fel de numeroşi ca stelele cerului.

Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now Jehovah thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
