1 C uvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

2 „ Fiul omului, aşa îi vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn ţării lui Israel: «Sfârşitul! A venit sfârşitul peste cele patru colţuri ale ţării!

And thou, son of man, thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto the land of Israel, An end: the end is come upon the four corners of the land.

3 A cum sfârşitul este peste tine! Voi trimite mânia Mea împotriva ta. Te voi judeca după cum ţi-e umbletul şi voi pune peste tine povara tuturor urâciunilor tale.

Now is the end upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways; and I will bring upon thee all thine abominations.

4 N u mă voi uita cu milă la tine şi nu te voi cruţa, ci îţi voi răsplăti după cum ţi-e umbletul şi potrivit cu urâciunile care au loc în mijlocul tău. Şi vei şti astfel că Eu sunt Domnul. »

And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity; but I will bring thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

5 A şa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Iată, vine dezastru peste dezastru!

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An evil, an only evil; behold, it cometh.

6 V ine sfârşitul! Vine sfârşitul! S-a deşteptat împotriva ta! Iată-l venind!

An end is come, the end is come; it awaketh against thee; behold, it cometh.

7 V ine osânda peste tine, locuitor al ţării! Vine vremea! Ziua este aproape! Pe munţi este panică, nu strigăte de bucurie!

Thy doom is come unto thee, O inhabitant of the land: the time is come, the day is near, a day of tumult, and not of joyful shouting, upon the mountains.

8 A cum sunt aproape să-Mi revărs furia asupra ta şi să-Mi consum mânia împotriva ta. Te voi judeca după cum ţi-e umbletul şi îţi voi face după toate urâciunile tale.

Now will I shortly pour out my wrath upon thee, and accomplish mine anger against thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways; and I will bring upon thee all thine abominations.

9 N u mă voi uita cu milă la tine şi nu te voi cruţa, ci îţi voi răsplăti după cum ţi-e umbletul şi potrivit cu urâciunile care au loc în mijlocul tău. Şi vei şti astfel că Cel Ce loveşte sunt Eu, Domnul!

And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will bring upon thee according to thy ways; and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I, Jehovah, do smite.

10 I ată ziua! Iat-o că vine! Vine osânda! Ramura a înmugurit! Aroganţa a înfrunzit!

Behold, the day, behold, it cometh: thy doom is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.

11 V iolenţa s-a înălţat ca să slujească de toiag răutăţii: nu va mai rămâne nimic din ei, nici din mulţimea lor, nici din bogăţia lor; nu va mai rămâne nimic deosebit între ei.

Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness; none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of their wealth: neither shall there be eminency among them.

12 V ine vremea! Se apropie ziua! Să nu se bucure cumpărătorul, iar vânzătorul să nu bocească, deoarece mânia se va revărsa peste toată mulţimea.

The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn; for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

13 C ăci vânzătorul nu se va mai întoarce la ceea ce a vândut, cât timp trăiesc amândoi, fiindcă viziunea cu privire la mulţime nu se va schimba. Din cauza nelegiuirilor lor, nu-şi vor scăpa viaţa nici unul.

For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they be yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, none shall return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.

14 S unaţi din trâmbiţă şi pregătiţi totul! Nici unul însă nu va merge la luptă, căci mânia Mea se va revărsa peste toată mulţimea.

They have blown the trumpet, and have made all ready; but none goeth to the battle; for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

15 P e stradă va fi sabia, iar în casă – molima şi foametea. Cine va fi pe câmp va muri de sabie, iar pe cel ce va fi în cetate îl vor devora foametea şi molima.

The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword: and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.

16 C ei ce vor scăpa cu viaţă dintre ei se vor afla în munţi, ca porumbeii văilor, gemând cu toţii, fiecare pentru nelegiuirea lui.

But those of them that escape shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one in his iniquity.

17 T oate mâinile vor slăbi şi pe toţi genunchii se va scurge apă.

All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water.

18 S e vor încinge cu saci şi tremurul îi va cuprinde pe toţi. Toate feţele vor fi acoperite de ruşine şi toate capetele vor fi rase.

They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.

19 Î şi vor arunca argintul pe străzi, iar aurul le va fi ca o necurăţie. Argintul şi aurul lor nu vor putea să-i scape în ziua furiei Domnului; nu vor putea nici să le sature sufletul, nici să le umple pântecele, căci ele au fost cauza care i-a făcut să cadă în nelegiuire.

They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be as an unclean thing; their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of Jehovah: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels; because it hath been the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

20 S e mândreau cu frumuseţea podoabelor lor, din care îşi făceau chipurile urâciunilor lor, ale idolilor lor respingători. De aceea le voi preface într-o necurăţie.

As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty; but they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things therein: therefore have I made it unto them as an unclean thing.

21 L e voi da ca pradă în mâna străinilor, vor fi de jaful celor răi de pe pământ şi ei le vor pângări.

And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane it.

22 Î mi voi întoarce faţa de la ei şi prădătorii vor întina preţiosul Meu Lăcaş; vor intra în el şi-l vor întina.

My face will I turn also from them, and they shall profane my secret place; and robbers shall enter into it, and profane it.

23 P regăteşte lanţul, căci ţara este plină de vărsare de sânge, iar cetatea este plină de violenţă.

Make the chain; for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

24 V oi aduce cele mai rele neamuri ca să le ia în stăpânire casele; voi pune capăt mândriei celor puternici, iar sanctuarele lor vor fi pângărite.

Wherefore I will bring the worst of the nations, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pride of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be profaned.

25 C ând va veni teroarea, ei vor căuta pacea, dar nu o vor găsi.

Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.

26 V a veni dezastru după dezastru, va sosi veste după veste. Atunci vor încerca să găsească o viziune din partea profetului, dar învăţătura din Lege a preotului va fi pierdută şi sfatul bătrânilor la fel.

Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumor shall be upon rumor; and they shall seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.

27 R egele va jeli, prinţul va fi îmbrăcat în disperare şi mâinile poporului din ţară vor tremura. Le voi face după umbletele lor şi-i voi judeca după legile lor. Şi vor şti astfel că Eu sunt Domnul. »“

The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.
