1 „ Tu, fiul omului, ia-ţi o sabie ascuţită şi foloseşte-o ca pe un brici de ras! Rade-ţi capul şi barba, după care ia o cumpănă de cântărit şi împarte părul!

And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp sword; as a barber's razor shalt thou take it unto thee, and shalt cause it to pass upon thy head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair.

2 C ând se vor împlini zilele asediului, să arzi o treime din el în mijlocul cetăţii. Apoi să iei o altă treime şi s-o tai cu sabia, mergând de jur împrejurul cetăţii, iar o treime s-o arunci în vânt. Căci voi da drumul la o sabie după ei.

A third part shalt thou burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and thou shalt take a third part, and smite with the sword round about it; and a third part thou shalt scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.

3 T otuşi să iei un mic număr de fire de păr, pe care să le păstrezi în poalele hainei tale.

And thou shalt take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts.

4 D intre acestea să iei câteva şi să le arunci în mijlocul focului, ca să ardă în el. Din ele va ieşi un foc împotriva întregii case a lui Israel.“

And of these again shalt thou take, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; therefrom shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.

5 A şa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: „Acesta este Ierusalimul pe care Eu l-am pus în mijlocul neamurilor şi împrejurul căruia am aşezat ţări.

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the midst of the nations, and countries are round about her.

6 E l s-a răzvrătit faţă de judecăţile Mele, devenind chiar mai rău decât neamurile, şi faţă de poruncile Mele, devenind chiar mai rău decât ţările din jurul lui. Într-adevăr, el a respins judecăţile Mele şi nu a urmat poruncile Mele.

And she hath rebelled against mine ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are round about her; for they have rejected mine ordinances, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them.

7 D e aceea, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Aţi fost mai nesupuşi până şi decât neamurile care vă înconjoară, neurmând poruncile Mele şi neîmplinind rânduielile Mele. Nu aţi făcut nici măcar după rânduielile neamurilor care vă înconjoară!

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye are turbulent more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept mine ordinances, neither have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you;

8 D in cauza aceasta, aşa zice Stăpânul Domn: ‘Iată, Eu Însumi sunt împotriva ta şi Îmi voi împlini în mijlocul tău judecăţile, chiar sub privirea neamurilor.

therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I, even I, am against thee; and I will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.

9 Î ţi voi face ceea ce n-am mai făcut şi nici nu voi mai face, şi aceasta se va întâmpla din cauza tuturor urâciunilor tale.

And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations.

10 D e aceea, în mijlocul tău, părinţii îşi vor mânca copiii, iar copiii îşi vor mânca părinţii. Voi face în tine judecată şi-ţi voi împrăştia întreaga rămăşiţă în toate vânturile.

Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments on thee; and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter unto all the winds.

11 D e aceea, viu sunt Eu, zice Stăpânul Domn, pentru că ai întinat Lăcaşul Meu cu toate spurcăciunile tale şi cu toate urâciunile tale, Îmi voi întoarce şi Eu ochii de la tine! Nu te voi mai privi cu îndurare şi nu te voi cruţa!

Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, and I also will have no pity.

12 O treime din poporul tău va muri de molimă şi va fi nimicită de foamete chiar în mijlocul tău, o altă treime va cădea ucisă de sabie împrejurul tău şi o altă treime va fi împrăştiată în toate vânturile, iar Eu o voi urmări cu sabia.

A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee; and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and a third part I will scatter unto all the winds, and will draw out a sword after them.

13 Î mi voi potoli mânia, Îmi voi domoli furia faţă de ei şi Mă voi linişti; când Îmi voi fi pomolit furia Mea faţă de ei, vor şti că Eu, Domnul, am vorbit în gelozia Mea.

Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause my wrath toward them to rest, and I shall be comforted; and they shall know that I, Jehovah, have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my wrath upon them.

14 T e voi da pradă ruinei şi batjocurii printre neamurile care te înconjoară, înaintea tuturor trecătorilor.

Moreover I will make thee a desolation and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by.

15 V ei ajunge de ruşine şi de batjocură, vei fi o pildă şi o pricină de groază pentru neamurile din jurul tău atunci când voi aduce împotriva ta judecăţile, cu mânie, cu furie şi cu pedepse aspre. Eu, Domnul, am vorbit.

So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments on thee in anger and in wrath, and in wrathful rebukes; (I, Jehovah, have spoken it;)

16 C ând voi trimite împotriva voastră săgeţile ucigătoare ale foametei, – care vor fi pentru distrugere şi pe care Eu le voi trimite spre nimicirea voastră –, voi înăspri foametea în mijlocul vostru şi vă voi zdrobi toiagul pâinii.

when I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, that are for destruction, which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread;

17 V oi trimite peste voi foametea şi fiarele sălbatice şi veţi fi lăsaţi fără copii; molima şi vărsarea de sânge vor trece pe la voi şi voi aduce sabia împotriva voastră. Eu, Domnul, am vorbit.’»“

and I will send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee; and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee: I, Jehovah, have spoken it.
