1 „ Tu eşti întotdeauna drept, Doamne, când mă cert cu Tine. Îţi voi vorbi totuşi cu privire la judecăţile Tale. De ce prosperă calea celor nelegiuiţi? De ce toţi ticăloşii au parte de bine?

Righteous art thou, O Jehovah, when I contend with thee; yet would I reason the cause with thee: wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they at ease that deal very treacherously?

2 T u i-ai plantat, iar ei au prins rădăcină. Cresc şi aduc rod. Tu eşti întotdeauna pe buzele lor, dar departe de inimile lor.

Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root; they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their heart.

3 T otuşi Tu, Doamne, mă cunoşti; mă vezi şi îmi cercetezi inima cu privire la Tine. Înhaţă-i ca pe nişte oi care trebuie înjunghiate! Pune-i deoparte pentru ziua măcelului!

But thou, O Jehovah, knowest me; thou seest me, and triest my heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

4 P ână când va zăcea pârjolită ţara şi se va usca iarba de pe câmpii? Din cauza răutăţii locuitorilor ţării, animalele şi păsările au pierit. Căci ei zic: «El nu ne va vedea sfârşitul!» Răspunsul Domnului

How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of the whole country wither? for the wickedness of them that dwell therein, the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our latter end.

5 „ Dacă ai alergat cu cei ce aleargă iar ei te-au obosit, cum vei putea să te iei la întrecere cu nişte cai? Într-o ţară liniştită te crezi în siguranţă, dar ce vei face la revărsarea Iordanului?

If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and though in a land of peace thou art secure, yet how wilt thou do in the pride of the Jordan?

6 C hiar şi fraţii tăi, propria ta familie, te trădează; ei înşişi strigă în gura mare după tine. Nu te încrede în ei chiar dacă te vorbesc de bine.

For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; even they have cried aloud after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.

7 M i-am părăsit Casa, Mi-am abandonat moştenirea, am dat-o pe iubita sufletului Meu în mâinile duşmanilor ei.

I have forsaken my house, I have cast off my heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.

8 M oştenirea Mea a ajuns pentru Mine ca un leu în pădure: şi-a ridicat glasul împotriva Mea, de aceea o urăsc.

My heritage is become unto me as a lion in the forest: she hath uttered her voice against me; therefore I have hated her.

9 N -a ajuns oare moştenirea Mea pentru Mine o pasăre de pradă pestriţă, înconjurată de celelalte păsări de pradă? «Duceţi-vă şi strângeţi toate fiarele câmpului, aduceţi-le ca s-o mănânce!»

Is my heritage unto me as a speckled bird of prey? are the birds of prey against her round about? go ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, bring them to devour.

10 M ulţi păstori Mi-au distrus via şi Mi-au călcat ogorul în picioare; Mi-au prefăcut ogorul Meu cel plăcut într-un deşert pustiit.

Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.

11 A u făcut din el un pustiu; pustiit, el se jeleşte înaintea Mea. Toată ţara a fost devastată, căci nimănui nu-i pasă.

They have made it a desolation; it mourneth unto me, being desolate; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.

12 D istrugătorii au sosit pe toate înălţimile sterpe din pustie, căci sabia Domnului mănâncă ţara de la un capăt la celălalt şi nimeni nu va avea pace.

Destroyers are come upon all the bare heights in the wilderness; for the sword of Jehovah devoureth from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh hath peace.

13 A u semănat grâu, dar au cules spini; s-au ostenit, dar nu au obţinut nimic. Să vă fie ruşine de ceea ce culegeţi în urma mâniei aprige a Domnului!“

They have sown wheat, and have reaped thorns; they have put themselves to pain, and profit nothing: and ye shall be ashamed of your fruits, because of the fierce anger of Jehovah.

14 „ Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Cât despre toţi vecinii Mei cei răi, care se ating de moştenirea pe care am dat-o poporului Meu, Israel, îi voi smulge din ţara lor şi voi smulge Casa lui Iuda din mijlocul lor.

Thus saith Jehovah against all mine evil neighbors, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them.

15 D ar, după ce-i voi smulge, voi avea iarăşi milă de ei şi-i voi aduce pe fiecare la moştenirea lui şi în ţara lui.

And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them up, I will return and have compassion on them; and I will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.

16 D acă vor învăţa bine căile poporului Meu şi vor jura pe Numele Meu, zicând ‘Viu este Domnul!’, aşa cum Mi-au învăţat şi ei poporul să jure pe Baal, atunci vor fi repuşi în drepturi în mijlocul poporului Meu.

And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, As Jehovah liveth; even as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built up in the midst of my people.

17 D ar, dacă vreun neam nu va asculta, îl voi smulge cu desăvârşire şi îl voi distruge, zice Domnul.»“

But if they will not hear, then will I pluck up that nation, plucking up and destroying it, saith Jehovah.
