1 C ând regina din Şeba a auzit despre faima lui Solomon, a venit la Ierusalim ca să-l încerce prin întrebări grele. Era însoţită de o caravană foarte numeroasă, având cu ea cămile încărcate cu mirodenii, foarte mult aur şi pietre preţioase; a venit la Solomon şi i-a vorbit despre tot ce avea pe inimă.

And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great train, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

2 S olomon i-a răspuns la toate întrebările; nu a fost nimic prea greu pe care Solomon să nu fi ştiut să i-l clarifice.

And Solomon told her all her questions; and there was not anything hid from Solomon which he told her not.

3 C ând regina din Şeba a văzut înţelepciunea lui Solomon, palatul pe care-l zidise,

And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

4 m âncarea de la masa lui, locuinţa slujitorilor săi, slujirea servitorilor săi şi veşmintele acestora, paharnicii lui şi veşmintele acestora şi arderile lui de tot pe care le aducea la Casa Domnului, i s-a tăiat răsuflarea.

and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, his cupbearers also, and their apparel, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of Jehovah; there was no more spirit in her.

5 A poi i-a zis regelui: „Aşadar, este adevărat ce am auzit despre faptele tale şi despre înţelepciunea ta!

And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom.

6 D ar nu am crezut aceste lucruri până când nu am venit şi până nu le-am văzut cu ochii mei. Iată însă că nu mi s-a spus nici măcar pe jumătate despre măreţia înţelepciunii tale! Tu ai mai mult decât se spune în zvonul pe care l-am auzit!

Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it; and, behold, the half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: thou exceedest the fame that I heard.

7 F ericiţi sunt oamenii tăi şi fericiţi sunt aceşti slujitori ai tăi care stau mereu înaintea ta şi care aud înţelepciunea ta!

Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, that stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.

8 B inecuvântat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, Care Şi-a găsit plăcerea în tine, punându-te pe tronul Lui, ca să fii rege pentru Domnul, Dumnezeul tău. Dumnezeul tău îl iubeşte pe Israel şi vrea să-l statornicească pe vecie! El te-a pus rege peste ei ca să faci judecată şi dreptate.“

Blessed be Jehovah thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on his throne, to be king for Jehovah thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do justice and righteousness.

9 Ş i ea i-a dăruit regelui o sută douăzeci de talanţi de aur, o mare cantitate de mirodenii, precum şi pietre preţioase. Nu s-au mai văzut niciodată aşa mirodenii ca acelea pe care regina din Şeba i le-a dăruit regelui Solomon.

And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

10 ( Slujitorii lui Hiram şi slujitorii lui Solomon, cei care au adus aur din Ofir, au mai adus de acolo şi lemn de algum şi pietre preţioase.

And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, that brought gold from Ophir, brought algum-trees and precious stones.

11 D in lemnul de algum regele a făcut trepte pentru Casa Domnului şi pentru palatul regelui, lire şi harfe pentru cântăreţi. Niciodată nu se mai văzuse aşa ceva în ţara lui Iuda.)

And the king made of the algum-trees terraces for the house of Jehovah, and for the king's house, and harps and psalteries for the singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.

12 R egele Solomon i-a dat reginei din Şeba tot ce a dorit şi a cerut, mai mult decât a adus ea regelui. După aceea, ea a plecat şi s-a întors în ţara sa împreună cu slujitorii săi. Fastul de la curtea lui Solomon

And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, besides that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went to her own land, she and her servants.

13 C antitatea de aur care intra anual în vistieria lui Solomon era de şase sute şaizeci şi şase de talanţi de aur,

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold,

14 î n afară de cel adus de negustori şi comercianţi. De asemenea, toţi regii Arabiei şi guvernatorii ţării îi aduceau aur şi argint lui Solomon.

besides that which the traders and merchants brought: and all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

15 R egele Solomon a făcut două sute de scuturi mari din aur bătut, pentru fiecare scut folosind câte şase sute de şecheli de aur bătut

And king Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of beaten gold went to one buckler.

16 ş i trei sute de scuturi mici din aur bătut, pentru fiecare dintre aceste scuturi folosind câte trei sute de şecheli de aur. Regele le-a pus în Palatul Pădurii Libanului.

And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

17 R egele a mai făcut şi un tron mare din fildeş şi l-a poleit cu aur curat.

Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.

18 T ronul avea şase trepte şi un reazem din aur pentru picioare, care era fixat de tron. De fiecare parte a tronului era câte o rezemătoare, iar lângă fiecare rezemătoare era aşezat câte un leu.

nd there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.

19 A lţi doisprezece lei erau aşezaţi de-o parte şi de alta a celor şase trepte. Aşa ceva nu se mai făcuse pentru nici un regat.

And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.

20 T oate vasele de băut ale regelui Solomon erau din aur şi toate vasele din Palatul Pădurii Libanului erau din aur pur, întrucât argintul nu era de mare preţ în zilele lui Solomon.

And all king Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: silver was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

21 C ăci regele avea corăbii de Tarşiş care navigau cu slujitorii lui Hiram şi o dată la trei ani aduceau aur, argint, fildeş, maimuţe şi păuni.

For the king had ships that went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram; once every three years came the ships of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

22 R egele Solomon i-a întrecut în bogăţie şi în înţelepciune pe toţi regii pământului.

So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

23 T oţi regii pământului căutau să-l vadă pe Solomon ca să-i asculte înţelepciunea pe care Dumnezeu o pusese în inima lui.

And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

24 A n de an, fiecare dintre cei care veneau îşi aducea darul: vase de argint şi de aur, arme, mirodenii, cai şi catâri.

And they brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

25 S olomon avea patru mii de grajduri pentru cai şi care şi douăsprezece mii de călăreţi, pe care îi ţinea atât în cetăţile pentru care, cât şi împreună cu el, la Ierusalim.

And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

26 E l stăpânea peste toate regatele, de la râu până în ţara filistenilor şi până la hotarul Egiptului.

And he ruled over all the kings from the River even unto the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.

27 R egele a făcut ca argintul să fie la fel de obişnuit în Ierusalim precum pietrele, iar cedrii la fel de numeroşi precum sicomorii de pe dealuri.

And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore-trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.

28 C aii lui Solomon erau aduşi din Egipt şi din toate celelalte ţări.

And they brought horses for Solomon out of Egypt, and out of all lands.

29 C elelalte fapte ale lui Solomon, de la început până la sfârşit, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cronicile profetului Natan“, în „Profeţia şilonitului Ahia“ şi în „Viziunile văzătorului Ido“, cele cu privire la Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat?

Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

30 S olomon a domnit timp de patruzeci de ani la Ierusalim, peste tot Israelul.

And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

31 A poi Solomon s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi a fost înmormântat în cetatea tatălui său, David. Şi în locul lui a domnit fiul său Roboam.

And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
