1 O Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known me.

Senhor, tu me sondas e me conheces.

2 T hou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising; Thou understandest my thought afar off.

Sabes quando me sento e quando me levanto; de longe percebes os meus pensamentos.

3 T hou searchest out my path and my lying down, And art acquainted with all my ways.

Sabes muito bem quando trabalho e quando descanso; todos os meus caminhos são bem conhecidos por ti.

4 F or there is not a word in my tongue, But, lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.

Antes mesmo que a palavra me chegue à língua, tu já a conheces inteiramente, Senhor.

5 T hou hast beset me behind and before, And laid thy hand upon me.

Tu me cercas, por trás e pela frente, e pões a tua mão sobre mim.

6 S uch knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Tal conhecimento é maravilhoso demais e está além do meu alcance; é tão elevado que não o posso atingir.

7 W hither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

Para onde poderia eu escapar do teu Espírito? Para onde poderia fugir da tua presença?

8 I f I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there.

Se eu subir aos céus, lá estás; se eu fizer a minha cama na sepultura, também lá estás.

9 I f I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Se eu subir com as asas da alvorada e morar na extremidade do mar,

10 E ven there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me.

mesmo ali a tua mão direita me guiará e me susterá.

11 I f I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me, And the light about me shall be night;

Mesmo que eu diga que as trevas me encobrirão, e que a luz se tornará noite ao meu redor,

12 E ven the darkness hideth not from thee, But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

verei que nem as trevas são escuras para ti. A noite brilhará como o dia, pois para ti as trevas são luz.

13 F or thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother's womb.

Tu criaste o íntimo do meu ser e me teceste no ventre de minha mãe.

14 I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Wonderful are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well.

Eu te louvo porque me fizeste de modo especial e admirável. Tuas obras são maravilhosas! Digo isso com convicção.

15 M y frame was not hidden from thee, When I was made in secret, And curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Meus ossos não estavam escondidos de ti quando em secreto fui formado e entretecido como nas profundezas da terra.

16 T hine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was none of them.

Os teus olhos viram o meu embrião; todos os dias determinados para mim foram escritos no teu livro antes de qualquer deles existir.

17 H ow precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!

Como são preciosos para mim os teus pensamentos, ó Deus! Como é grande a soma deles!

18 I f I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee.

Se eu os contasse, seriam mais do que os grãos de areia. Se terminasse de contá-los, eu ainda estaria contigo.

19 S urely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: Depart from me therefore, ye bloodthirsty men.

Quem dera matasses os ímpios, ó Deus! Afastem-se de mim os assassinos!

20 F or they speak against thee wickedly, And thine enemies take thy name in vain.

Porque falam de ti com maldade; em vão rebelam-se contra ti.

21 D o not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

Acaso não odeio os que te odeiam, Senhor ? E não detesto os que se revoltam contra ti?

22 I hate them with perfect hatred: They are become mine enemies.

Tenho por eles ódio implacável! Considero-os inimigos meus!

23 S earch me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts;

Sonda-me, ó Deus, e conhece o meu coração; prova-me, e conhece as minhas inquietações.

24 A nd see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

Vê se em minha conduta algo te ofende, e dirige-me pelo caminho eterno.
