1 S ave me, O God; For the waters are come in unto my soul.

Salva-me, ó Deus!, pois as águas subiram até o meu pescoço.

2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

Nas profundezas lamacentas eu me afundo; não tenho onde firmar os pés. Entrei em águas profundas; as correntezas me arrastam.

3 I am weary with my crying; my throat is dried: Mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Cansei-me de pedir socorro; minha garganta se abrasa. Meus olhos fraquejam de tanto esperar pelo meu Deus.

4 T hey that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: They that would cut me off, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: That which I took not away I have to restore.

Os que sem razão me odeiam são mais do que os fios de cabelo da minha cabeça; muitos são os que me prejudicam sem motivo, muitos, os que procuram destruir-me. Sou forçado a devolver o que não roubei.

5 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; And my sins are not hid from thee.

Tu bem sabes como fui insensato, ó Deus; a minha culpa não te é encoberta.

6 L et not them that wait for thee be put to shame through me, O Lord Jehovah of hosts: Let not those that seek thee be brought to dishonor through me, O God of Israel.

Não se decepcionem por minha causa aqueles que esperam em ti, ó Senhor, Senhor dos Exércitos! Não se frustrem por minha causa os que te buscam, ó Deus de Israel!

7 B ecause for thy sake I have borne reproach; Shame hath covered my face.

Pois por amor a ti suporto zombaria, e a vergonha cobre-me o rosto.

8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, And an alien unto my mother's children.

Sou um estrangeiro para os meus irmãos, um estranho até para os filhos da minha mãe;

9 F or the zeal of thy house hath eaten me up; And the reproaches of them that reproach thee are fallen upon me.

pois o zelo pela tua casa me consome, e os insultos daqueles que te insultam caem sobre mim.

10 W hen I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, That was to my reproach.

Até quando choro e jejuo, tenho que suportar zombaria;

11 W hen I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword unto them.

quando ponho vestes de lamento, sou objeto de chacota.

12 T hey that sit in the gate talk of me; And I am the song of the drunkards.

Os que se ajuntam na praça falam de mim, e sou a canção dos bêbados.

13 B ut as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O Jehovah, in an acceptable time: O God, in the abundance of thy lovingkindness, Answer me in the truth of thy salvation.

Mas eu, Senhor, no tempo oportuno, elevo a ti minha oração; responde-me, por teu grande amor, ó Deus, com a tua salvação infalível!

14 D eliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: Let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

Tira-me do atoleiro, não me deixes afundar; liberta-me dos que me odeiam e das águas profundas.

15 L et not the waterflood overwhelm me, Neither let the deep shallow me up; And let not the pit shut its mouth upon me.

Não permitas que as correntezas me arrastem, nem que as profundezas me engulam, nem que a cova feche sobre mim a sua boca!

16 A nswer me, O Jehovah; for thy lovingkindness is good: According to the multitude of thy tender mercies turn thou unto me.

Responde-me, Senhor, pela bondade do teu amor; por tua grande misericórdia, volta-te para mim.

17 A nd hide not thy face from thy servant; For I am in distress; answer me speedily.

Não escondas do teu servo a tua face; responde-me depressa, pois estou em perigo.

18 D raw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: Ransom me because of mine enemies.

Aproxima-te e resgata-me; livra-me por causa dos meus inimigos.

19 T hou knowest my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: Mine adversaries are all before thee.

Tu bem sabes como sofro zombaria, humilhação e vergonha; conheces todos os meus adversários.

20 R eproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: And I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.

A zombaria partiu-me o coração; estou em desespero! Supliquei por socorro, nada recebi; por consoladores, e a ninguém encontrei.

21 T hey gave me also gall for my food; And in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

Puseram fel na minha comida e para matar-me a sede deram-me vinagre.

22 L et their table before them become a snare; And when they are in peace, let it become a trap.

Que a mesa deles se lhes transforme em laço; torne-se retribuição e armadilha.

23 L et their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see; And make their loins continually to shake.

Escureçam-se os seus olhos para que não consigam ver; faze-lhes tremer o corpo sem parar.

24 P our out thine indignation upon them, And let the fierceness of thine anger overtake them.

Despeja sobre eles a tua ira; que o teu furor ardente os alcance.

25 L et their habitation be desolate; Let none dwell in their tents.

Fique deserto o lugar deles; não haja ninguém que habite nas suas tendas.

26 F or they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; And they tell of the sorrow of those whom thou hast wounded.

Pois perseguem aqueles que tu feres e comentam a dor daqueles a quem castigas.

27 A dd iniquity unto their iniquity; And let them not come into thy righteousness.

Acrescenta-lhes pecado sobre pecado; não os deixes alcançar a tua justiça.

28 L et them be blotted out of the book of life, And not be written with the righteous.

Sejam eles tirados do livro da vida e não sejam incluídos no rol dos justos.

29 B ut I am poor and sorrowful: Let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.

Grande é a minha aflição e a minha dor! Proteja-me, ó Deus, a tua salvação!

30 I will praise the name of God with a song, And will magnify him with thanksgiving.

Louvarei o nome de Deus com cânticos e proclamarei sua grandeza com ações de graças;

31 A nd it will please Jehovah better than an ox, Or a bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

isso agradará o Senhor mais do que bois, mais do que touros com seus chifres e cascos.

32 T he meek have seen it, and are glad: Ye that seek after God, let your heart live.

Os necessitados o verão e se alegrarão; a vocês que buscam a Deus, vida ao seu coração!

33 F or Jehovah heareth the needy, And despiseth not his prisoners.

O Senhor ouve o pobre e não despreza o seu povo aprisionado.

34 L et heaven and earth praise him, The seas, and everything that moveth therein.

Louvem-no os céus e a terra, os mares e tudo o que neles se move,

35 F or God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah; And they shall abide there, and have it in possession.

pois Deus salvará Sião e reconstruirá as cidades de Judá. Então o povo ali viverá e tomará posse da terra;

36 T he seed also of his servants shall inherit it; And they that love his name shall dwell therein.

a descendência dos seus servos a herdará, e nela habitarão os que amam o seu nome.
