1 R ồi đó, Phao-lô đi khỏi thành A-thên, mà tới thành Cô-rinh-tô.

After that Paul went from the city of Athens and came to the city of Corinth.

2 T ại đó, người gặp một người Giu-đa, tên là A-qui-la, quê ở xứ Bông, mới từ nước Y-ta-li đến đây với vợ mình là Bê-rít-sin, bởi vì vua Cơ-lốt có chỉ truyền mọi người Giu-đa phải lánh khỏi thành Rô-ma; Phao-lô bèn hiệp với hai người.

He met a Jew there named Aquila who was born in the country of Pontus. He had lived in the country of Italy a short time. His wife Priscilla was with him. Claudius, who was the leader of the country, had told all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see Aquila and Priscilla.

3 V ì đồng nghề, nên Phao-lô ở nhà hai người mà làm việc chung nhau; vả, nghề các người đó là may trại.

They made tents for a living. Paul did the same kind of work so he stayed with them and they worked together.

4 H ễ đến ngày Sa-bát, thì Phao-lô giảng luận trong nhà hội, khuyên dỗ người Giu-đa và người Gờ-réc.

Every Day of Rest he would go to the Jewish place of worship and teach both Jews and Greeks.

5 K hi Si-la và Ti-mô-thê từ xứ Ma-xê-đoan đến, thì Phao-lô hết lòng chuyên lo về sự giảng dạy, làm chứng với người Giu-đa rằng Đức Chúa Jêsus là Đấng Christ.

Silas and Timothy came down from the country of Macedonia. Then Paul used all his time preaching to the Jews. He taught that Jesus was the Christ.

6 N hưng, vì chúng chống cự và khinh dể người, nên người giũ áo mình mà nói rằng: Ước gì máu các ngươi đổ lại trên đầu các ngươi! Còn ta thì tinh sạch; từ đây, ta sẽ đi đến cùng người ngoại.

But they worked against Paul and said bad things about him. He shook his clothes and said, “Whatever happens to you is your own doing. I am free from your guilt. From now on I will go to the people who are not Jews.”

7 P hao-lô ra khỏi đó, vào nhà một người tên là Ti-ti -u Giút-tu, là kẻ kính sợ Đức Chúa Trời, nhà người giáp với nhà hội.

Paul went from there and came to the house of a man named Titus Justus who worshiped God. His house was next to the Jewish place of worship.

8 B ấy giờ Cơ-rít-bu, chủ nhà hội, với cả nhà mình đều tin Chúa; lại có nhiều người Cô-rinh-tô từng nghe Phao-lô giảng, cũng tin và chịu phép báp-tem.

Crispus was the leader of the Jewish place of worship. He and his family believed in the Lord. Many of the people of Corinth who heard Paul became Christians and were baptized.

9 B an đêm, Chúa phán cùng Phao-lô trong sự hiện thấy rằng: Đừng sợ chi; song hãy nói và chớ làm thinh;

Paul saw the Lord in a dream one night. He said to Paul, “Do not be afraid. Keep speaking. Do not close your mouth.

10 t a ở cùng ngươi, chẳng ai tra tay trên ngươi đặng làm hại đâu; vì ta có nhiều người trong thành nầy.

I am with you. No one will hurt you. I have many people in this city who belong to Me.”

11 P hao-lô ở lại đó một năm sáu tháng, dạy đạo Đức Chúa Trời trong đám họ.

For a year and a half Paul stayed there and taught them the Word of God.

12 L úc Ga-li-ôn đang làm quan trấn thủ xứ A-chai, người Giu-đa đồng lòng nổi lên nghịch cùng Phao-lô và kéo người đến tòa án,

Gallio was leader of the country of Greece. All the Jews worked against Paul and brought him in front of the court.

13 m à nói rằng: Người nầy xui dân thờ Đức Chúa Trời một cách trái luật pháp.

They said, “This man is trying to get people to worship God against the Law.”

14 P hao-lô vừa toan mở miệng trả lời, thì Ga-li-ôn nói cùng dân Giu-đa rằng: Hãy người Giu-đa, giá như về nỗi trái phép hay tội lỗi gì, thì theo lẽ phải, ta nên nhịn nhục nghe các ngươi.

Paul was ready to speak, but Gallio said to the Jews, “If this were something bad or a wrong doing, I would listen to you.

15 S ong nếu biện luận về địa lý, danh hiệu, hay là luật pháp riêng của các ngươi, thì hãy tự xử lấy; ta chẳng khứng xử đoán những việc đó đâu.

But because it is about words and names and your own Law, you will have to take care of it yourselves. I do not want to judge who is right or wrong in things like this.”

16 N gười bèn đuổi chúng ra khỏi tòa án.

And he sent them out of his court.

17 B ấy giờ, chúng bắt Sốt-then, chủ nhà hội, đánh đòn trước tòa án, nhưng Ga-li-ôn chẳng lo đến việc đó.

Then all the Greek people took Sosthenes, the leader of the Jewish place of worship, and beat him in front of the court. But Gallio did not let this trouble him. Paul Goes Back to Antioch

18 P hao-lô lại thành Cô-rinh-tô ít lâu nữa, rồi từ giã anh em, xuống thuyền đi với Bê-rít-sin và A-qui-la qua xứ Sy-ri, sau khi đã chịu cạo đầu tại thành Sen-cơ-rê, vì người có lời thề nguyện.

Paul stayed in Corinth many days longer. Then he said good-bye and left the followers. He went by ship to the country of Syria with Priscilla and Aquila going with him. In the city of Cenchrea he had his hair cut short because of a promise he had made to God.

19 K ế đó, ba người tới thành Ê-phê-sô, Phao-lô để đồng bạn mình lại đó. Còn người, thì vào nhà hội, nói chuyện với những người Giu-đa;

They came to the city of Ephesus. Priscilla and Aquila stayed there. Paul went to the Jewish place of worship and argued with the Jews.

20 s ong khi chúng xin ở lại lâu hơn nữa, thì người chẳng khứng.

They wanted him to stay longer but he would not.

21 N gười từ giã các người đó mà rằng: Ví Đức Chúa Trời khứng, thì chuyến khác ta sẽ đến nơi các ngươi; rồi người từ thành Ê-phê-sô mà đi.

As he left them, he said, (“I must go to the special supper at Jerusalem.) I will return again to you if God wants me to.” Then he got on a ship and left Ephesus.

22 K hi đổ bộ tại thành Sê-sa-rê rồi, người đi lên thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, chào mừng Hội thánh, đoạn lại xuống thành An-ti-ốt.

He stopped in the city of Caesarea to greet the people in the church. Then he went down to the city of Antioch.

23 N gười ở đó ít lâu, rồi lại đi, trải lần lần khắp trong xứ Ga-la-ti và xứ Phi-ri-gi, làm cho hết thảy môn đồ đều vững lòng.

Paul stayed there for some time. Then he went from city to city through the countries of Galatia and Phrygia. In each place he helped the Christians become strong in the faith. Aquila and Priscilla Help Apollos in Ephesus

24 B ấy giờ có một người Giu-đa tên là A-bô-lô, quê tại thành A-léc-xan-tri, là tay khéo nói và hiểu Kinh Thánh, đến thành Ê-phê-sô.

A Jew by the name of Apollos had come to Ephesus. He was from the city of Alexandria. He could talk to people about the Holy Writings very well.

25 N gười đã học đạo Chúa; nên lấy lòng rất sốt sắng mà giảng và dạy kĩ càng những điều về Đức Chúa Jêsus, dẫu người chỉ biết phép báp-tem của Giăng mà thôi.

He had been taught in the way of the Lord. And with a strong desire in his heart, he taught about Jesus. What he said was true, but he knew only about the baptism of John.

26 V ậy, người khởi sự giảng cách dạn-dĩ trong nhà hội. Bê-rít-sin và A-qui-la nghe giảng, bèn đem người về với mình, giải bày đạo Đức Chúa Trời cho càng kĩ lưỡng hơn nữa.

He began to speak without fear in the Jewish place of worship. Aquila and Priscilla heard him. They took him to their house and taught him much more about the things of God.

27 N gười toan sang xứ A-chai, thì anh em giục lòng cho và viết thơ gởi dặn môn đồ phải tiếp đãi người tử tế. Khi tới rồi, người được nhờ ơn Đức Chúa Trời mà bổ ích cho kẻ đã tin theo.

Apollos wanted to cross over to Greece. The Christians wrote a letter to the followers there asking them to be good to him. When he got there, he was much help to those who had put their trust in Christ.

28 V ì người hết sức bẻ bác người Giu-đa giữa thiên hạ, lấy Kinh Thánh mà bày tỏ rằng Đức Chúa Jêsus là Đấng Christ.

In front of everyone he proved with great power that the Jews were wrong. He showed from the Holy Writings that Jesus was the Christ.
