1 C anto. Salmo di Davide. Il mio cuore è ben disposto, o Dio, io canterò e salmeggerò con riverenza.

O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

2 D estatevi, saltèrio e cetra, io voglio risvegliare l’alba.

Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.

3 T i celebrerò tra i popoli, o Signore, e a te salmeggerò fra le nazioni.

I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

4 P erché la tua bontà giunge fino ai cieli e la tua fedeltà fino alle nuvole.

For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.

5 I nnàlzati, o Dio, al di sopra dei cieli, risplenda su tutta la terra la tua gloria!

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;

6 P erché quelli che ami siano liberati, salvaci con la tua destra e ascoltaci.

That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.

7 D io ha parlato nel suo santuario: «Io trionferò, dividerò Sichem e misurerò la valle di Succot.

God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

8 M io è Galaad, mio è Manasse, Efraim è l’elmo del mio capo, Giuda è il mio scettro.

Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

9 M oab è il catino dove mi lavo; sopra Edom getterò il mio sandalo; sulla Filistia proromperò in grida di trionfo».

Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.

10 C hi mi guiderà alla città forte? Chi mi condurrà fino in Edom?

Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

11 N on sei forse tu, o Dio, che ci hai respinti e non esci più, o Dio, con i nostri eserciti?

Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

12 A iutaci a uscire dalle difficoltà, perché vano è il soccorso dell’uomo.

Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

13 C on Dio noi faremo cose grandi ed egli schiaccerà i nostri nemici.

Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
