1 Q uando Salomone ebbe finito di pregare, il fuoco scese dal cielo, consumò l’olocausto e i sacrifici, e la gloria del Signore riempì la casa.

Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house.

2 I sacerdoti non potevano entrare nella casa del Signore, perché la gloria del Signore riempiva la casa del Signore.

And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord 's house.

3 T utti i figli d’Israele videro scendere il fuoco e la gloria del Signore sulla casa; si chinarono con la faccia a terra, si prostrarono sul pavimento e lodarono il Signore, dicendo: «Celebrate il Signore, perch’egli è buono, perché la sua bontà dura in eterno».

And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

4 P oi il re e tutto il popolo offrirono dei sacrifici davanti al Signore.

Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord.

5 I l re Salomone offrì in sacrificio ventiduemila buoi e centoventimila pecore. Così il re e tutto il popolo dedicarono la casa di Dio.

And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

6 I sacerdoti stavano in piedi, compiendo il loro servizio; così pure i Leviti, con gli strumenti musicali consacrati al Signore, che il re Davide aveva fatti per lodare il Signore, la cui bontà dura in eterno, quando anche Davide celebrava con essi il Signore; e i sacerdoti suonavano la tromba di fronte ai Leviti, e tutto Israele stava in piedi.

And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the Lord, which David the king had made to praise the Lord, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.

7 S alomone consacrò la parte centrale del cortile, situata davanti alla casa del Signore; là infatti offrì gli olocausti e il grasso dei sacrifici di riconoscenza, poiché l’altare di bronzo, che Salomone aveva fatto, non poteva contenere gli olocausti, le offerte e il grasso.

Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.

8 I n quel tempo Salomone celebrò la festa per sette giorni, e tutto Israele con lui. Ci fu una grandissima assemblea di gente venuta da tutto il paese: dai dintorni di Camat fino al torrente d’Egitto.

Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt.

9 L ’ottavo giorno fecero una riunione solenne, perché celebrarono la dedicazione dell’altare per sette giorni, e la festa per altri sette giorni.

And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

10 I l ventitreesimo giorno del settimo mese Salomone rimandò alle sue tende il popolo allegro e con il cuore contento per il bene che il Signore aveva fatto a Davide, a Salomone e a Israele, suo popolo. Seconda apparizione del Signore a Salomone

And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the Lord had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

11 S alomone dunque terminò la casa del Signore e il palazzo reale, e portò a felice compimento tutto quello che aveva avuto in cuore di fare nella casa del Signore e nel suo proprio palazzo.

Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.

12 P oi il Signore apparve di notte a Salomone e gli disse: «Ho esaudito la tua preghiera e mi sono scelto questo luogo come casa dei sacrifici.

And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.

13 Q uando chiuderò il cielo in modo che non ci sarà più pioggia, quando ordinerò alle locuste di divorare il paese, quando manderò la peste in mezzo al mio popolo,

If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

14 s e il mio popolo, sul quale è invocato il mio nome, si umilia, prega, cerca la mia faccia e si converte dalle sue vie malvagie, io lo esaudirò dal cielo, perdonerò i suoi peccati e guarirò il suo paese.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

15 I miei occhi saranno ormai aperti e le mie orecchie attente alla preghiera fatta in questo luogo;

Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

16 i nfatti ora ho scelto e santificato questa casa, perché il mio nome vi rimanga per sempre, e i miei occhi e il mio cuore saranno qui per sempre.

For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

17 E quanto a te, se tu cammini davanti a me come camminò Davide tuo padre, facendo tutto quello che ti ho comandato, e se osservi le mie leggi e miei precetti,

And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments;

18 i o stabilirò il trono del tuo regno, come promisi a Davide tuo padre, dicendo: “Non ti mancherà mai qualcuno che regni sopra Israele”.

Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

19 M a se vi allontanate da me e abbandonate le mie leggi e i miei comandamenti, che vi ho posti davanti, e andate invece a servire altri dèi e a prostrarvi davanti a loro,

But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

20 i o vi sradicherò dal mio paese che vi ho dato; e respingerò dalla mia presenza la casa che ho consacrata al mio nome, e la farò diventare la favola e lo zimbello di tutti i popoli.

Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

21 C hiunque passerà vicino a questa casa, già così eccelsa, si stupirà e dirà: “Perché il Signore ha trattato in tal modo questo paese e questa casa?”

And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and unto this house?

22 S i risponderà: “Perché hanno abbandonato il Signore, Dio dei loro padri, che li fece uscire dal paese d’Egitto, si sono invaghiti di altri dèi, si sono prostrati davanti a loro e li hanno serviti; ecco perché il Signore ha fatto venire tutti questi mali su di loro”».

And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
