1 P oi Davide e i capi dell’esercito appartarono per il servizio quelli dei figli di Asaf, di Eman e di Iedutun che cantavano gli inni sacri accompagnandosi con cetre, con saltèri e con cembali; e questo fu il numero di quelli che furono incaricati di questo servizio:

Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:

2 d ei figli di Asaf: Zaccur, Iosef, Netania, Asarela, figli di Asaf, sotto la direzione di Asaf, che cantava gli inni sacri seguendo le istruzioni del re.

Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king.

3 D i Iedutun, i figli di Iedutun: Ghedalia, Seri, Isaia, Casabia, Mattitia e Simei, sei, sotto la direzione del loro padre Iedutun, che cantava gli inni sacri con la cetra per lodare e celebrare il Signore.

Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the Lord.

4 D i Eman, i figli di Eman: Bucchiia, Mattania, Uzziel, Sebuel, Ierimot, Anania, Canani, Eliatac, Ghiddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Iosbecasa, Malloti, Otir, Maaziot.

Of Heman: the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth:

5 T utti questi erano figli di Eman, veggente del re, secondo la promessa di Dio di accrescere la potenza di Eman. Dio infatti aveva dato a Eman quattordici figli e tre figlie.

All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

6 T utti questi erano sotto la direzione dei loro padri per il canto della casa del Signore e avevano cembali, saltèri e cetre per il servizio della casa di Dio. Erano sotto la direzione del re, di Asaf, di Iedutun e di Eman.

All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the Lord, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.

7 I l loro numero, compresi i loro fratelli istruiti nel canto in onore del Signore, tutti quelli cioè che erano esperti in questo, era duecentottantotto.

So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the Lord, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.

8 T irarono a sorte il loro ordine di servizio, tanto i piccoli quanto i grandi, tanto i maestri quanto gli allievi.

And they cast lots, ward against ward, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.

9 I l primo designato dalla sorte per Asaf fu Iosef; il secondo fu Ghedalia, con i suoi fratelli e i suoi figli, dodici in tutto;

Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons were twelve:

10 i l terzo fu Zaccur, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;

The third to Zaccur, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:

11 i l quarto fu Iseri, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;

The fourth to Izri, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:

12 i l quinto fu Netania, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;

The fifth to Nethaniah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:

13 i l sesto fu Bucchiia, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;

The sixth to Bukkiah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:
