1 A nd Jonah prayeth unto Jehovah his God from the bowels of the fish.

Atëherë Jona iu lut Zotit, Perëndisë të tij, nga barku i peshkut dhe tha:

2 A nd he saith: I called, because of my distress, to Jehovah, And He doth answer me, From the belly of sheol I have cried, Thou hast heard my voice.

"Në fatkeqësinë time i thirra Zotit dhe ai m’u përgjigj; nga gjiri i Sheolit i thirra dhe ti e dëgjove zërin tim.

3 W hen Thou dost cast me the deep, Into the heart of the seas, Then the flood doth compass me, All Thy breakers and Thy billows have passed over me.

Më hodhe në një vend të thellë, në zemër të deteve, rryma më mori dhe gjithë dallgët e tua dhe valët e tua më kaluan sipër.

4 A nd I -- I said: I have been cast out from before Thine eyes, (Yet I add to look unto Thy holy temple!)

Atëherë thashë: U dëbova nga prania jote. Megjithatë do të shikoj akoma në drejtim të tempullit tënd të shenjtë.

5 C ompassed me have waters unto the soul, The deep doth compass me, The weed is bound to my head.

Ujërat më kanë rrethuar deri në shpirt, humnera më ka mbështjellë, algat u mblodhën rreth kokës sime.

6 T o the cuttings of mountains I have come down, The earth, her bars behind me to the age. And Thou bringest up from the pit my life, O Jehovah my God.

Zbrita deri në themelet e maleve, toka mbylli shufrat e saj pas meje për gjithnjë, por ti e ngrite jetën time nga gropa, o Zot, Perëndia im.

7 I n the feebleness within me of my soul Jehovah I have remembered, And come in unto Thee doth my prayer, Unto Thy holy temple.

Kur shpirti im po ligështohej brenda meje, kujtova Zotin, dhe lutja ime arriti deri te ti, në tempullin tënd të shenjtë.

8 T hose observing lying vanities their own mercy forsake.

Ata që jepen pas kotësive të rreme braktisin vetë burimin e hirit të tyre.

9 A nd I -- with a voice of thanksgiving -- I sacrifice to Thee, That which I have vowed I complete, Salvation of Jehovah.

Por unë me zëra lëvdimi do të ofroj flijime dhe do të plotësoj betimet që kam bërë. Shpëtimi i përket Zotit".

10 A nd Jehovah saith to the fish, and it vomiteth out Jonah on the dry land.

Atëherë Zoti i foli peshkut dhe peshku e volli Jonan në breg.
