1 A demás respondió Jehová a Job y dijo:

Moreover Jehovah answered Job, and said,

2 « ¿Es sabiduría contender con el Omnipotente? ¡Responda a esto el que disputa con Dios!»

Shall he that cavilleth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it.

3 E ntonces respondió Job a Jehová y dijo:

Then Job answered Jehovah, and said,

4 « Yo soy vil, ¿qué te responderé? ¡Me tapo la boca con la mano!

Behold, I am of small account; What shall I answer thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.

5 U na vez hablé, mas no replicaré más; aun dos veces, mas no volveré a hablar.» Manifestaciones del poder de Dios

Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.

6 R espondió Jehová a Job desde el torbellino y dijo:

Then Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

7 « Ahora cíñete la cintura como un hombre: yo te preguntaré y tú me contestarás.

Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

8 ¿ Invalidarás tú también mi juicio? ¿Me condenarás a mí, para justificarte tú?

Wilt thou even annul my judgment? Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be justified?

9 ¿ Tienes tú un brazo como el de Dios? ¿Truena tu voz como la suya?

Or hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

10 » Adórnate ahora de majestad y alteza, vístete de honra y hermosura.

Deck thyself now with excellency and dignity; And array thyself with honor and majesty.

11 D errama el ardor de tu ira; mira a todo altivo y abátelo.

Pour forth the overflowings of thine anger; And look upon every one that is proud, and abase him.

12 M ira a todo soberbio y humíllalo, y destruye a los impíos dondequiera que estén.

Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; And tread down the wicked where they stand.

13 E ntiérralos a todos en el polvo, encierra sus rostros en la oscuridad.

Hide them in the dust together; Bind their faces in the hidden place.

14 E ntonces yo también declararé que tu diestra puede salvarte.

Then will I also confess of thee That thine own right hand can save thee.

15 » Ahí está el behemot: yo lo creé, lo mismo que a ti. Come hierba, como el buey.

Behold now, behemoth, which I made as well as thee; He eateth grass as an ox.

16 S u fuerza está en sus lomos; su vigor, en los músculos de su vientre.

Lo now, his strength is in his loins, And his force is in the muscles of his belly.

17 M ueve su cola semejante al cedro, y los nervios de sus muslos están entretejidos.

He moveth his tail like a cedar: The sinews of his thighs are knit together.

18 S us huesos son fuertes como el bronce y sus miembros como barras de hierro.

His bones are as tubes of brass; His limbs are like bars of iron.

19 » Él es el primero entre las obras de Dios, y sólo el que lo hizo puede acercar a él la espada.

He is the chief of the ways of God: He only that made him giveth him his sword.

20 C iertamente para él producen hierba los montes, donde retozan las bestias del campo.

Surely the mountains bring him forth food, Where all the beasts of the field do play.

21 S e acuesta a la sombra en lo oculto de las cañas y de los lugares húmedos.

He lieth under the lotus-trees, In the covert of the reed, and the fen.

22 L os árboles lo cubren con su sombra; los sauces del arroyo lo rodean.

The lotus-trees cover him with their shade; The willows of the brook compass him about.

23 A un cuando el río se salga de madre, él no se inmuta; permanece tranquilo aunque todo un Jordán se estrelle contra su boca.

Behold, if a river overflow, he trembleth not; He is confident, though a Jordan swell even to his mouth.

24 ¿ Quién podrá atraparlo mientras él vigila? ¿Quién le perforará la nariz?

Shall any take him when he is on the watch, Or pierce through his nose with a snare?
