1 « Congregaos y meditad, nación sin pudor,

Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation that hath no shame;

2 a ntes que tenga efecto el decreto y el día se pase como el tamo; antes que venga sobre vosotros el furor de la ira de Jehová; antes que el día de la ira de Jehová venga sobre vosotros.

before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of Jehovah come upon you, before the day of Jehovah's anger come upon you.

3 B uscad a Jehová todos los humildes de la tierra, los que pusisteis por obra su juicio; buscad justicia, buscad mansedumbre; quizá seréis guardados en el día del enojo de Jehová.

Seek ye Jehovah, all ye meek of the earth, that have kept his ordinances; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye will be hid in the day of Jehovah's anger.

4 » Porque Gaza será desamparada y Ascalón asolada; saquearán a Asdod en pleno día y Ecrón será desarraigada.

For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation; they shall drive out Ashdod at noonday, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

5 ¡ Ay de los que moran en la costa del mar, del pueblo de los cereteos! Jehová ha pronunciado esta palabra contra vosotros: ¡Canaán, tierra de filisteos, te haré destruir hasta dejarte sin morador!

Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea-coast, the nation of the Cherethites! The word of Jehovah is against you, O Canaan, the land of the Philistines; I will destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

6 L a costa del mar se convertirá en praderas para pastores, en corrales de ovejas.

And the sea-coast shall be pastures, with cottages for shepherds and folds for flocks.

7 S erá aquel lugar para el resto de la casa de Judá; allí apacentarán. En las casas de Ascalón dormirán de noche, porque Jehová, su Dios, los visitará y levantará su cautiverio.

And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed their flocks thereupon; in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening; for Jehovah their God will visit them, and bring back their captivity.

8 » He oído los insultos de Moab y las ofensas con que los hijos de Amón deshonraron a mi pueblo y se engrandecieron sobre su territorio.

I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, wherewith they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.

9 P or tanto, vivo yo, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, que Moab quedará como Sodoma, y los hijos de Amón como Gomorra: serán un campo de ortigas, una mina de sal, un lugar desolado para siempre. El resto de mi pueblo los saqueará y el resto de mi pueblo los heredará.

Therefore as I live, saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall make a prey of them, and the remnant of my nation shall inherit them.

10 » Esto les vendrá por su soberbia, porque afrentaron al pueblo de Jehová de los ejércitos y se engrandecieron contra él.

This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Jehovah of hosts.

11 T errible será Jehová con ellos, porque destruirá a todos los dioses de la tierra, y se inclinarán ante él, desde sus lugares, todas las costas de la tierra.

Jehovah will be terrible unto them; for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the nations.

12 T ambién vosotros, los de Etiopía, seréis muertos con mi espada.

Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.

13 L uego extenderá su mano contra el norte y destruirá a Asiria, y convertirá a Nínive en un lugar desolado, árido como un desierto.

And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria, and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like the wilderness.

14 R ebaños de ganado se echarán en ella, y todas las bestias del campo; el pelícano y el erizo dormirán en sus dinteles, su voz resonará en las ventanas; habrá desolación en las puertas, porque su artesonado de cedro quedará al descubierto.

And herds shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the pelican and the porcupine shall lodge in the capitals thereof; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he hath laid bare the cedar-work.

15 É sta es la ciudad alegre que estaba confiada, la que decía en su corazón: “Yo, y nadie más.” ¡Cómo fue asolada, hecha guarida de fieras! Todos los que pasen junto a ella se burlarán y sacudirán la mano.»

This is the joyous city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
