1 O ídme, costas, y escuchad, pueblos lejanos: Jehová me llamó desde el vientre; desde las entrañas de mi madre tuvo mi nombre en memoria.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye peoples, from far: Jehovah hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name:

2 Y puso mi boca como espada afilada, me cubrió con la sombra de su mano. Me puso por saeta aguda, me guardó en su aljaba.

and he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me: and he hath made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he kept me close:

3 M e dijo: «Mi siervo eres, Israel, porque en ti me gloriaré.»

and he said unto me, Thou art my servant; Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

4 P ero yo dije: «Por demás he trabajado; en vano y sin provecho he agotado mis fuerzas. Pero mi causa está delante de Jehová, y mi recompensa con mi Dios.»

But I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nought and vanity; yet surely the justice due to me is with Jehovah, and my recompense with my God.

5 A hora pues, Jehová, el que me formó desde el vientre para ser su siervo, para hacer volver a él a Jacob y para congregarle a Israel (porque estimado seré en los ojos de Jehová y el Dios mío será mi fuerza),

And now saith Jehovah that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, and that Israel be gathered unto him (for I am honorable in the eyes of Jehovah, and my God is become my strength);

6 é l dice: «Poco es para mí que sólo seas mi siervo para levantar las tribus de Jacob y restaurar el resto de Israel; también te he dado por luz de las naciones, para que seas mi salvación hasta lo último de la tierra.»

yea, he saith, It is too light a thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

7 A sí ha dicho Jehová, Redentor de Israel, el Santo suyo, al menospreciado de alma, al abominado de las naciones, al siervo de los tiranos: «Lo verán reyes, se levantarán príncipes y adorarán por causa de Jehová, porque fiel es el Santo de Israel, el cual te escogió.» Dios promete restaurar a Sión

Thus saith Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of Jehovah that is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee.

8 A sí dijo Jehová: «En tiempo favorable te oí, en el día de salvación te ayudé. Te guardaré y te daré por pacto al pueblo, para que restaures la tierra, para que heredes asoladas heredades;

Thus saith Jehovah, In an acceptable time have I answered thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee; and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages:

9 p ara que digas a los presos: “¡Salid!”, y a los que están en tinieblas: “¡Mostraos!” En los caminos serán apacentados y en todas las alturas tendrán sus pastos.

saying to them that are bound, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture.

10 » No tendrán hambre ni sed, ni el calor ni el sol los afligirá; porque el que tiene de ellos misericordia los guiará y los conducirá a manantiales de aguas.

They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them will lead them, even by springs of water will he guide them.

11 C onvertiré en camino todos mis montes y mis calzadas serán niveladas.»

And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.

12 H e aquí, estos vendrán de lejos: unos del norte y del occidente, y otros de la tierra de Sinim.

Lo, these shall come from far; and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

13 ¡ Cantad, cielos, alabanzas, y alégrate, tierra! ¡Montes, prorrumpid en alabanzas, porque Jehová ha consolado a su pueblo y de sus pobres tendrá misericordia!

Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for Jehovah hath comforted his people, and will have compassion upon his afflicted.

14 P ero Sión ha dicho: «Me dejó Jehová, el Señor se olvidó de mí.»

But Zion said, Jehovah hath forsaken me, and the Lord hath forgotten me.

15 « ¿Se olvidará la mujer de lo que dio a luz, para dejar de compadecerse del hijo de su vientre? ¡Aunque ella lo olvide, yo nunca me olvidaré de ti!

Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, these may forget, yet will not I forget thee.

16 H e aquí que en las palmas de las manos te tengo esculpida; delante de mí están siempre tus muros.

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

17 T us edificadores vendrán aprisa; tus destructores y asoladores se marcharán.

Thy children make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth from thee.

18 A lza tus ojos alrededor, y mira: todos estos se han reunido, han venido a ti. »Vivo yo, dice Jehová, que de todos, como de vestidura de honra, serás vestida; y de ellos serás adornada como una novia.

Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith Jehovah, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all as with an ornament, and gird thyself with them, like a bride.

19 P orque tu tierra devastada, arruinada y desierta, ahora será estrecha por la multitud de los moradores, y tus destructores serán apartados lejos.

For, as for thy waste and thy desolate places, and thy land that hath been destroyed, surely now shalt thou be too strait for the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.

20 A un los hijos de tu orfandad dirán a tus oídos: “Estrecho es para mí este lugar; apártate, para que yo viva en él.”

The children of thy bereavement shall yet say in thine ears, The place is too strait for me; give place to me that I may dwell.

21 Y dirás en tu corazón: “¿Quién me engendró a estos?, porque yo había sido privada de hijos y estaba sola, peregrina y desterrada. ¿Quién, pues, crió a estos? He aquí, yo había quedado sola, ¿dónde, pues, estaban estos?”»

Then shalt thou say in thy heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have been bereaved of my children, and am solitary, an exile, and wandering to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where were they?

22 A sí dijo Jehová el Señor: «He aquí, yo tenderé mi mano a las naciones y a los pueblos levantaré mi bandera; traerán en brazos a tus hijos y tus hijas serán traídas en hombros.

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and set up my ensign to the peoples; and they shall bring thy sons in their bosom, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.

23 R eyes serán tus ayos y sus reinas, tus nodrizas; con el rostro inclinado a tierra se postrarán ante ti y lamerán el polvo de tus pies. Conocerás entonces que yo soy Jehová y que no se avergonzarán los que esperan en mí.

And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah; and they that wait for me shall not be put to shame.

24 ¿ Será quitado el botín al valiente? ¿Será rescatado el que es cautivo de un tirano?»

Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captives be delivered?

25 P ero así dice Jehová: «Quizás el cautivo sea rescatado del valiente y el botín sea arrebatado al tirano, pero yo defenderé tu pleito y salvaré a tus hijos.

But thus saith Jehovah, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

26 Y a los que te despojaron haré comer sus propias carnes, y con su sangre serán embriagados como con vino. Entonces todos sabrán que yo, Jehová, soy tu Salvador y tu Redentor, el Fuerte de Jacob.»

And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, am thy Saviour, and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
