1 » Ahora pues, oye, Jacob, siervo mío, Israel, a quien yo escogí:

Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant, and Israel, who I have chosen:

2 A sí dice Jehová, Hacedor tuyo y el que te formó desde el vientre, el cual te ayudará: No temas, siervo mío Jacob, tú, Jesurún, a quien yo escogí.

Thus saith Jehovah that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, who will help thee: Fear not, O Jacob my servant; and thou, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

3 P orque yo derramaré aguas sobre el sequedal, ríos sobre la tierra seca. Mi espíritu derramaré sobre tu descendencia, y mi bendición sobre tus renuevos;

For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and streams upon the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

4 y brotarán entre la hierba, como los sauces junto a las riberas de las aguas.

and they shall spring up among the grass, as willows by the watercourses.

5 É ste dirá: “Yo soy de Jehová.” Otro se pondrá por nombre Jacob, y otro escribirá con su mano: “A Jehová”, y se apellidará con el nombre de Israel.

One shall say, I am Jehovah's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto Jehovah, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

6 » Así dice Jehová, Rey de Israel y su Redentor, Jehová de los ejércitos: Yo soy el primero y yo soy el último, y fuera de mí no hay Dios.

Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God.

7 ¿ Y quién proclamará lo venidero, lo declarará y lo pondrá en orden delante de mí, como hago yo desde que establecí el pueblo antiguo? ¡Que les anuncien lo que viene, lo que está por venir!

And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I established the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and that shall come to pass, let them declare.

8 N o temáis ni os amedrentéis. ¿No te lo hice oír desde la antigüedad y te lo dije? Luego vosotros sois mis testigos. ¡No hay Dios sino yo! ¡No hay Roca, no conozco ninguna!» La insensatez de la idolatría

Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have I not declared unto thee of old, and showed it? and ye are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? yea, there is no Rock; I know not any.

9 L os que modelan imágenes de talla, todos ellos son nada, y lo más precioso de ellos para nada es útil; y ellos mismos, para su confusión, son testigos de que los ídolos no ven ni entienden.

They that fashion a graven image are all of them vanity; and the things that they delight in shall not profit; and their own witnesses see not, nor know: that they may be put to shame.

10 ¿ Quién fabrica un dios o quién funde una imagen que para nada es de provecho?

Who hath fashioned a god, or molten an image that is profitable for nothing?

11 T odos los suyos serán avergonzados, porque los artífices mismos son seres humanos. Todos ellos se juntarán, se presentarán, se asombrarán y serán a una avergonzados.

Behold, all his fellows shall be put to shame; and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; they shall fear, they shall be put to shame together.

12 E l herrero toma la tenaza, trabaja en las brasas, le da forma con los martillos y trabaja en ello con la fuerza de su brazo; luego tiene hambre y le faltan las fuerzas; no bebe agua, y se desmaya.

The smith maketh an axe, and worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with his strong arm: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth; he drinketh no water, and is faint.

13 E l carpintero tiende la regla, lo diseña con almagre, lo labra con los cepillos, le da figura con el compás, lo hace en forma de varón, a semejanza de un hermoso hombre, para tenerlo en casa.

The carpenter stretcheth out a line; he marketh it out with a pencil; he shapeth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compasses, and shapeth it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house.

14 C orta cedros, toma ciprés y encina, que crecen entre los árboles del bosque; planta un pino, para que crezca con la lluvia.

He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the holm-tree and the oak, and strengtheneth for himself one among the trees of the forest: he planteth a fir-tree, and the rain doth nourish it.

15 D e él se sirve luego el hombre para quemar, toma de ellos para calentarse; enciende también el horno y cuece panes; hace además un dios y lo adora; fabrica un ídolo y se arrodilla delante de él.

Then shall it be for a man to burn; and he taketh thereof, and warmeth himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread: yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

16 U na parte del leño la quema en el fuego; con ella prepara un asado de carne, lo come y se sacia. Después se calienta y dice: «¡Ah, me he calentado con este fuego!»

He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied; yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire.

17 D el sobrante hace un dios (un ídolo suyo), se postra delante de él, lo adora y le ruega diciendo: «¡Líbrame, porque tú eres mi dios!»

And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image; he falleth down unto it and worshippeth, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

18 N o saben ni entienden, porque cerrados están sus ojos para no ver y su corazón para no entender.

They know not, neither do they consider: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

19 N o reflexiona para sí, no tiene conocimiento ni entendimiento para decir: «Parte de esto quemé en el fuego, sobre sus brasas cocí pan, asé carne y la comí. ¿Haré del resto de él una abominación? ¿Me postraré delante de un tronco de árbol?»

And none calleth to mind, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

20 D e ceniza se alimenta; su corazón engañado lo desvía, para que no libre su alma ni diga: «¿No es pura mentira lo que tengo en mi mano derecha?» Jehová, Redentor de Israel

He feedeth on ashes; a deceived heart hath turned him aside; and he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

21 « Acuérdate de estas cosas, Jacob, porque mi siervo eres, Israel. Yo te formé, siervo mío eres tú. ¡Israel, no me olvides!

Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

22 Y o deshice como a una nube tus rebeliones y como a una niebla tus pecados; vuélvete a mí, porque yo te redimí.»

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

23 C antad loores, cielos, porque Jehová lo hizo; gritad con júbilo, profundidades de la tierra. Prorrumpid, montes, en alabanza, y el bosque y todo árbol que hay en él, porque Jehová redimió a Jacob y en Israel será glorificado.

Sing, O ye heavens, for Jehovah hath done it; shout, ye lower parts of the earth; break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for Jehovah hath redeemed Jacob, and will glorify himself in Israel.

24 A sí dice Jehová, tu Redentor, que te formó desde el vientre: «Yo Jehová, que lo hago todo, que despliego yo solo los cielos, que extiendo la tierra por mí mismo;

Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb: I am Jehovah, that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth (who is with me?);

25 q ue deshago las señales de los adivinos y enloquezco a los agoreros; que hago volver atrás a los sabios y desvanezco su sabiduría.

that frustrateth the signs of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

26 Y o soy el que despierta la palabra de su siervo y lleva a cabo el plan de sus mensajeros; el que dice a Jerusalén: “Serás habitada”, y a las ciudades de Judá: “Serán reconstruidas y reedificaré sus ruinas.”

that confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith of Jerusalem, She shall be inhabited; and of the cities of Judah, They shall be built, and I will raise up the waste places thereof;

27 Y o soy el que dice a las profundidades: “¡Secaos! ¡Yo haré secar tus ríos!”

that saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers;

28 Y o soy el que dice de Ciro: “Es mi pastor y cumplirá todo lo que yo quiero, al decir a Jerusalén: ‘Serás edificada’, y al Templo: ‘Serán puestos tus cimientos.’”»

That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure, even saying of Jerusalem, She shall be built; and of the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
