1 H abiendo entrado Jesús en Jericó, iba pasando por la ciudad.

And he entered and was passing through Jericho.

2 Y sucedió que un hombre llamado Zaqueo, que era jefe de los publicanos, y rico,

And behold, a man called by name Zacchaeus; and he was a chief publican, and he was rich.

3 p rocuraba ver quién era Jesús, pero no podía a causa de la multitud, pues era pequeño de estatura.

And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the crowd, because he was little of stature.

4 Y , corriendo delante, se subió a un sicómoro para verlo, porque había de pasar por allí.

And he ran on before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

5 C uando Jesús llegó a aquel lugar, mirando hacia arriba lo vio, y le dijo: —Zaqueo, date prisa, desciende, porque hoy es necesario que me hospede en tu casa.

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to-day I must abide at thy house.

6 E ntonces él descendió aprisa y lo recibió gozoso.

And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

7 A l ver esto, todos murmuraban, diciendo que había entrado a hospedarse en casa de un hombre pecador.

And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He is gone in to lodge with a man that is a sinner.

8 E ntonces Zaqueo, puesto en pie, dijo al Señor: —Señor, la mitad de mis bienes doy a los pobres; y si en algo he defraudado a alguien, se lo devuelvo cuadruplicado.

And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wrongfully exacted aught of any man, I restore fourfold.

9 J esús le dijo: —Hoy ha venido la salvación a esta casa, por cuanto él también es hijo de Abraham,

And Jesus said unto him, To-day is salvation come to this house, forasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

10 p orque el Hijo del hombre vino a buscar y a salvar lo que se había perdido. Parábola de las diez minas

For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost.

11 O yendo ellos estas cosas, prosiguió Jesús y dijo una parábola, por cuanto estaba cerca de Jerusalén y ellos pensaban que el reino de Dios se manifestaría inmediatamente.

And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was immediately to appear.

12 D ijo, pues: «Un hombre noble se fue a un país lejano para recibir un reino y volver.

He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

13 L lamó antes a diez siervos suyos, les dio diez minas y les dijo: “Negociad entre tanto que regreso.”

And he called ten servants of his, and gave them ten pounds, and said unto them, Trade ye herewith till I come.

14 P ero sus conciudadanos lo odiaban y enviaron tras él una embajada, diciendo: “No queremos que éste reine sobre nosotros.”

But his citizens hated him, and sent an ambassage after him, saying, We will not that this man reign over us.

15 » Aconteció que, al regresar él después de recibir el reino, mandó llamar ante él a aquellos siervos a los cuales había dado el dinero, para saber lo que había negociado cada uno.

And it came to pass, when he was come back again, having received the kingdom, that he commanded these servants, unto whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by trading.

16 S e presentó el primero, diciendo: “Señor, tu mina ha ganado diez minas.”

And the first came before him, saying, Lord, thy pound hath made ten pounds more.

17 É l le dijo: “Está bien, buen siervo; por cuanto en lo poco has sido fiel, tendrás autoridad sobre diez ciudades.”

And he said unto him, Well done, thou good servant: because thou wast found faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

18 L legó otro, diciendo: “Señor, tu mina ha producido cinco minas.”

And the second came, saying, Thy pound, Lord, hath made five pounds.

19 T ambién a éste dijo: “Tú también sé sobre cinco ciudades.”

And he said unto him also, Be thou also over five cities.

20 » Se presentó otro, diciendo: “Señor, aquí está tu mina, la cual he tenido guardada en un pañuelo,

And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I kept laid up in a napkin:

21 p orque tuve miedo de ti, por cuanto eres hombre severo que tomas lo que no pusiste y siegas lo que no sembraste.”

for I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that which thou layedst not down, and reapest that which thou didst not sow.

22 E ntonces él le dijo: “Mal siervo, por tu propia boca te juzgo. Sabías que yo soy hombre severo que tomo lo que no puse y siego lo que no sembré.

He saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up that which I laid not down, and reaping that which I did not sow;

23 ¿ Por qué, pues, no pusiste mi dinero en el banco para que, al volver, lo hubiera recibido con los intereses?”

then wherefore gavest thou not my money into the bank, and I at my coming should have required it with interest?

24 Y dijo a los que estaban presentes: “Quitadle la mina y dadla al que tiene las diez minas.”

And he said unto them that stood by, Take away from him the pound, and give it unto him that hath the ten pounds.

25 E llos le dijeron: “Señor, tiene diez minas.”

And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.

26 “ Pues yo os digo que a todo el que tiene, se le dará; pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene se le quitará.

I say unto you, that unto every one that hath shall be given; but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away from him.

27 Y también a aquellos mis enemigos que no querían que yo reinara sobre ellos, traedlos acá y decapitadlos delante de mí.”» La entrada triunfal en Jerusalén

But these mine enemies, that would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

28 D icho esto, iba delante subiendo a Jerusalén.

And when he had thus spoken, he went on before, going up to Jerusalem.

29 A l acercarse a Betfagé y a Betania, al monte que se llama de los Olivos, envió a dos de sus discípulos,

And it came to pass, when he drew nigh unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples,

30 d iciendo: —Id a la aldea de enfrente, y al entrar en ella hallaréis un asno atado en el cual ningún hombre ha montado jamás; desatadlo y traedlo.

saying, Go your way into the village over against you; in which as ye enter ye shall find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet sat: loose him, and bring him.

31 Y si alguien os pregunta: “¿Por qué lo desatáis?” le responderéis así: “Porque el Señor lo necesita.”

And if any one ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say, The Lord hath need of him.

32 F ueron los que habían sido enviados y hallaron como les dijo.

And they that were sent went away, and found even as he had said unto them.

33 C uando desataban el asno, sus dueños les dijeron: —¿Por qué desatáis el asno?

And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?

34 E llos dijeron: —Porque el Señor lo necesita.

And they said, The Lord hath need of him.

35 L o trajeron a Jesús; y habiendo echado sus mantos sobre el asno, subieron a Jesús encima.

And they brought him to Jesus: and they threw their garments upon the colt, and set Jesus thereon.

36 Y a su paso tendían sus mantos por el camino.

And as he went, they spread their garments in the way.

37 C uando ya se acercaba a la bajada del Monte de los Olivos, toda la multitud de los discípulos, gozándose, comenzó a alabar a Dios a grandes voces por todas las maravillas que habían visto.

And as he was now drawing nigh, even at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen;

38 D ecían: —¡Bendito el Rey que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Paz en el cielo y gloria en las alturas!

saying, Blessed is the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

39 E ntonces algunos de los fariseos de entre la multitud le dijeron: —Maestro, reprende a tus discípulos.

And some of the Pharisees from the multitude said unto him, Teacher, rebuke thy disciples.

40 É l, respondiendo, les dijo: —Os digo que si estos callaran las piedras clamarían.

And he answered and said, I tell you that, if these shall hold their peace, the stones will cry out.

41 C uando llegó cerca de la ciudad, al verla, lloró por ella,

And when he drew nigh, he saw the city and wept over it,

42 d iciendo: —¡Si también tú conocieras, a lo menos en este tu día, lo que es para tu paz! Pero ahora está encubierto a tus ojos.

saying, If thou hadst known in this day, even thou, the things which belong unto peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

43 V endrán días sobre ti cuando tus enemigos te rodearán con cerca, te sitiarán y por todas partes te estrecharán;

For the days shall come upon thee, when thine enemies shall cast up a bank about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

44 t e derribarán a tierra y a tus hijos dentro de ti, y no dejarán en ti piedra sobre piedra, por cuanto no conociste el tiempo de tu visitación. Purificación del Templo

and shall dash thee to the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

45 E ntrando en el Templo comenzó a echar fuera a todos los que vendían y compraban en él,

And he entered into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold,

46 d iciéndoles: —Escrito está: “Mi casa es casa de oración”, pero vosotros la habéis hecho cueva de ladrones.

saying unto them, It is written, And my house shall be a house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of robbers.

47 E nseñaba cada día en el Templo; pero los principales sacerdotes, los escribas y los altos dignatarios del pueblo procuraban matarlo.

And he was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people sought to destroy him:

48 P ero no hallaban nada que pudieran hacerle, porque todo el pueblo estaba pendiente de sus palabras.

and they could not find what they might do; for the people all hung upon him, listening.
