1 S e echaron también suertes para la tribu de Manasés, porque era el primogénito de José: a Maquir, primogénito de Manasés y padre de Galaad, que fue un hombre de guerra, le tocó Galaad y Basán.

And this was the lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the first-born of Joseph. As for Machir the first-born of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.

2 S e echaron también suertes para los otros hijos de Manasés conforme a sus familias: los hijos de Abiezer, los hijos de Helec, los hijos de Asriel, los hijos de Siquem, los hijos de Hefer y los hijos de Semida. Estos eran los hijos varones de Manasés hijo de José, por sus familias.

So the lot was for the rest of the children of Manasseh according to their families: for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph according to their families.

3 P ero Zelofehad hijo de Hefer hijo de Galaad, hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, no tuvo hijos sino hijas, los nombres de las cuales son estos: Maala, Noa, Hogla, Milca y Tirsa.

But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

4 É stas acudieron ante el sacerdote Eleazar, ante Josué hijo de Nun y ante los príncipes, y dijeron: «Jehová mandó a Moisés que nos diera una heredad entre nuestros hermanos.» Y se les dio una heredad entre los hermanos de su padre, conforme al dicho de Jehová.

And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, Jehovah commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren: therefore according to the commandment of Jehovah he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

5 L e tocaron a Manasés diez partes, además de la tierra de Galaad y de Basán, que está al otro lado del Jordán,

And there fell ten parts to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which is beyond the Jordan;

6 p ues las hijas de Manasés recibieron una heredad entre sus hijos. La tierra de Galaad fue para los otros hijos de Manasés.

because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons. And the land of Gilead belonged unto the rest of the sons of Manasseh.

7 E l territorio de Manasés iba desde Aser hasta Micmetat, que está enfrente de Siquem, y seguía hacia el sur, hasta los que habitan en Tapúa.

And the border of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethath, which is before Shechem; and the border went along to the right hand, unto the inhabitants of En-tappuah.

8 L a tierra de Tapúa era de Manasés, pero Tapúa misma, que está junto al límite de Manasés, era de los hijos de Efraín.

The land of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh; but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim.

9 E ste límite desciende al arroyo Caná, hacia el sur del arroyo. Estas ciudades de Efraín están entre las ciudades de Manasés; el límite de Manasés estaba al norte del mismo arroyo, e iba a salir al mar.

And the border went down unto the brook of Kanah, southward of the brook: these cities belonged to Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh: and the border of Manasseh was on the north side of the brook, and the goings out thereof were at the sea:

10 A Efraín pertenecía el sur, a Manasés el norte, y el mar era su frontera; lindaban con Aser al norte y con Isacar al oriente.

southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea was his border; and they reached to Asher on the north, and to Issachar on the east.

11 T uvo también Manasés en Isacar y en Aser a Bet-seán y sus aldeas, a Ibleam y sus aldeas, a los habitantes de Dor y sus aldeas, a los habitantes de Endor y sus aldeas, a los habitantes de Taanac y sus aldeas, a los habitantes de Meguido y sus aldeas: tres provincias.

And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Beth-shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of En-dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, even the three heights.

12 P ero los hijos de Manasés no pudieron expulsar a los de aquellas ciudades, y el cananeo persistió en habitar en aquella tierra.

Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

13 P ero cuando los hijos de Israel fueron lo suficientemente fuertes, hicieron tributario al cananeo, aunque no lo expulsaron.

And it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxed strong, that they put the Canaanites to taskwork, and did not utterly drive them out.

14 L os hijos de José dijeron a Josué: —¿Por qué nos has dado como heredad una sola suerte y una sola parte, siendo nosotros un pueblo tan grande, al que Jehová ha bendecido hasta ahora?

And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one part for an inheritance, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as hitherto Jehovah hath blessed me?

15 J osué les respondió: —Si sois un pueblo tan grande, subid al bosque y talad para vosotros allí en la tierra de los ferezeos y de los refaítas, ya que los montes de Efraín os resultan estrechos.

And Joshua said unto them, If thou be a great people, get thee up to the forest, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim; since the hill-country of Ephraim is too narrow for thee.

16 L os hijos de José dijeron: —No nos bastará a nosotros este monte. Además, todos los cananeos que habitan la tierra de la llanura tienen carros de hierro, lo mismo los que están en Bet-seán y en sus aldeas que los del valle de Jezreel.

And the children of Joseph said, The hill-country is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are in Beth-shean and its towns, and they who are in the valley of Jezreel.

17 E ntonces Josué respondió a la casa de José, a Efraín y a Manasés: —Tú eres un gran pueblo y tienes un gran poder: no tendrás una sola parte,

And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power; thou shalt not have one lot only:

18 s ino que aquel monte será tuyo, pues aunque es un bosque, tú lo desmontarás y lo poseerás hasta sus límites más lejanos; porque tú arrojarás al cananeo, aunque tenga carros de hierro y aunque sea fuerte.

but the hill-country shall be thine; for though it is a forest, thou shalt cut it down, and the goings out thereof shall be thine; for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong.
