1 V iejo ya David y colmado de días, proclamó a Salomón, su hijo, rey de Israel.

Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

2 H abiendo reunido a todos los principales de Israel, a los sacerdotes y a los levitas,

And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

3 f ueron contados los levitas mayores de treinta años; y fue el número de ellos, contados uno por uno, treinta y ocho mil.

And the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.

4 D e estos, veinticuatro mil dirigirían la obra de la casa de Jehová, y seis mil serían gobernadores y jueces.

Of these, twenty and four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Jehovah; and six thousand were officers and judges;

5 A demás, cuatro mil serían porteros, y cuatro mil alabarían a Jehová, con los instrumentos que David había hecho para tributar alabanzas.

and four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

6 L os repartió David en grupos conforme a los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Coat y Merari.

And David divided them into courses according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

7 L os hijos de Gersón: Laadán y Simei.

Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.

8 L os hijos de Laadán: Jehiel, el primero, después Zetam y Joel; tres en total.

The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

9 L os hijos de Simei: Selomit, Haziel y Harán; tres en total. Éstos fueron los jefes de las familias de Laadán.

The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers' houses of Ladan.

10 L os hijos de Simei: Jahat, Zina, Jeús y Bería. Estos cuatro fueron los hijos de Simei.

And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

11 J ahat era el primero, y Zina, el segundo; Jeús y Bería no tuvieron muchos hijos, por lo cual fueron contados como una familia.

And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they became a fathers' house in one reckoning.

12 L os hijos de Coat: Amram, Izhar, Hebrón y Uziel; cuatro en total.

The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

13 L os hijos de Amram: Aarón y Moisés. Aarón fue apartado para ser dedicado a las cosas más santas, tanto él como sus hijos, para siempre, a fin de que quemaran incienso delante de Jehová, le ministraran y bendijeran su nombre para siempre.

The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, for ever, to burn incense before Jehovah, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, for ever.

14 Y los hijos de Moisés, varón de Dios, fueron contados en la tribu de Leví.

But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.

15 L os hijos de Moisés fueron Gersón y Eliezer.

The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.

16 H ijo de Gersón fue Sebuel, el jefe.

The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief.

17 E hijo de Eliezer fue Rehabías, el jefe. Eliezer no tuvo otros hijos, pero los hijos de Rehabías fueron muy numerosos.

And the sons of Eliezer were: Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

18 H ijo de Izhar fue Selomit, el jefe.

The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief.

19 L os hijos de Hebrón: Jerías, el jefe, el segundo, Amarías, el tercero, Jahaziel y el cuarto, Jecamán.

The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

20 L os hijos de Uziel: Micaía, el jefe, y el segundo, Isías.

The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.

21 L os hijos de Merari: Mahli y Musi. Los hijos de Mahli: Eleazar y Cis.

The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

22 Y murió Eleazar sin hijos; pero tuvo hijas, y los hijos de Cis, sus parientes, las tomaron por mujeres.

And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them to wife.

23 L os hijos de Musi: Mahli, Edar y Jeremot; tres en total.

The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

24 É stos son los hijos de Leví, según las familias de sus padres, jefes de familias, según el censo de ellos, contados por sus nombres, uno por uno, de veinte años para arriba, los cuales trabajaban en el ministerio de la casa de Jehová.

These were the sons of Levi after their fathers' houses, even the heads of the fathers' houses of those of them that were counted, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the house of Jehovah, from twenty years old and upward.

25 P orque David había dicho: «Jehová, Dios de Israel, ha dado paz a su pueblo Israel, y él habitará en Jerusalén para siempre.

For David said, Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath given rest unto his people; and he dwelleth in Jerusalem for ever:

26 P or eso los levitas no tendrán que transportar más el Tabernáculo y todos los utensilios para su ministerio.»

and also the Levites shall no more have need to carry the tabernacle and all the vessels of it for the service thereof.

27 A sí que, conforme a las últimas palabras de David, se hizo el cómputo de los hijos de Leví de veinte años para arriba.

For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered, from twenty years old and upward.

28 E stos estaban bajo las órdenes de los hijos de Aarón para el servicio de la casa de Jehová, en los atrios, en las cámaras, en la purificación de toda cosa santificada, y en lo demás de la obra del ministerio en la casa de Dios.

For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God;

29 A simismo tenían a su cargo los panes de la proposición, la flor de harina para el sacrificio, las hojuelas sin levadura, las ofrendas preparadas en sartén y las cocidas, y todos los pesos y medidas.

for the showbread also, and for the fine flour for a meal-offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all manner of measure and size;

30 T enían además que asistir todos los días por la mañana y por la tarde para dar gracias y tributar alabanzas a Jehová.

and to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah, and likewise at even;

31 T ambién tenían que ofrecer todos los holocaustos a Jehová los sábados, lunas nuevas y fiestas solemnes, continuamente delante de Jehová, según su número y de acuerdo con su rito.

and to offer all burnt-offerings unto Jehovah, on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Jehovah;

32 T enían también a su cargo el cuidado del Tabernáculo de reunión y del santuario, bajo las órdenes de los hijos de Aarón, sus hermanos, en el ministerio de la casa de Jehová.

and that they should keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, for the service of the house of Jehovah.
