1 N o te alegres, Israel, no saltes de gozo como otros pueblos, pues has fornicado al apartarte de tu Dios. Amaste el salario de rameras en todas las eras de trigo.

Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, like the peoples; for thou hast played the harlot, departing from thy God; thou hast loved hire upon every grain-floor.

2 L a era y el lagar no los sustentarán, y les fallará el mosto.

The threshing-floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail her.

3 N o se quedarán en la tierra de Jehová, sino que Efraín volverá a Egipto y a Asiria, donde comerán vianda inmunda.

They shall not dwell in Jehovah's land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean food in Assyria.

4 N o harán libaciones a Jehová ni sus sacrificios le serán gratos; cual pan de duelo será para ellos, y todos los que coman de él serán impuros. Su pan será, pues, para ellos mismos: ese pan no entrará en la casa de Jehová.

They shall not pour out wine-offerings to Jehovah, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted; for their bread shall be for their appetite; it shall not come into the house of Jehovah.

5 ¿ Qué haréis en el día de la solemnidad, y en el día de la fiesta de Jehová?

What will ye do in the day of solemn assembly, and in the day of the feast of Jehovah?

6 E llos se fueron a causa de la destrucción. Egipto los recogerá, Menfis los enterrará. La ortiga conquistará lo deseable de su plata, y el espino crecerá en sus moradas.

For, lo, they are gone away from destruction; yet Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them; their pleasant things of silver, nettles shall possess them; thorns shall be in their tents.

7 V inieron los días del castigo, vinieron los días de la retribución. ¡Israel lo sabrá! Necio es el profeta, insensato es el hombre de espíritu, a causa de la enormidad de tu maldad y de la inmensidad de tu odio.

The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the man that hath the spirit is mad, for the abundance of thine iniquity, and because the enmity is great.

8 E l profeta, atalaya de Efraín, está junto a mi Dios; lazos de cazador se le tienden en todos sus caminos, se le odia aun en la casa de su Dios.

Ephraim was a watchman with my God: as for the prophet, a fowler's snare is in all his ways, and enmity in the house of his God.

9 L legaron hasta lo más bajo en su corrupción, como en los días de Gabaa. Él se acordará de su iniquidad y castigará su pecado.

They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

10 « Como uvas en el desierto hallé a Israel; vi a vuestros padres en sus primicias como la fruta temprana de la higuera. Pero al acudir ellos a Baal-peor, se apartaron para vergüenza, y se hicieron abominables como aquello que amaban.

I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the first-ripe in the fig-tree at its first season: but they came to Baal-peor, and consecrated themselves unto the shameful thing, and became abominable like that which they loved.

11 L a gloria de Efraín volará cual ave, de modo que no habrá nacimientos ni embarazos ni concepciones.

As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird: there shall be no birth, and none with child, and no conception.

12 A unque lleguen a crecer sus hijos, los quitaré de entre los hombres. ¡Ay de ellos también, cuando de ellos me aparte!

Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, so that not a man shall be left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!

13 E fraín, según veo, es semejante a Tiro, situado en un lugar delicioso; pero Efraín llevará sus hijos a la matanza.»

Ephraim, like as I have seen Tyre, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring out his children to the slayer.

14 D ales, Jehová, lo que les has de dar; dales matriz que aborte y pechos enjutos.

Give them, O Jehovah-what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

15 « Toda la maldad de ellos se manifestó en Gilgal; allí, pues, les tomé aversión. Por la perversidad de sus obras los echaré de mi Casa. Ya no los amaré más; todos sus príncipes son desleales.

All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them: because of the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of my house; I will love them no more; all their princes are revolters.

16 E fraín fue herido, su raíz está seca, no dará más fruto. Aunque engendren, yo haré morir el precioso fruto de su vientre.»

Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay the beloved fruit of their womb.

17 M i Dios los desechará porque ellos no lo oyeron, y andarán errantes entre las naciones.

My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
