1 A conteció después de estas cosas, que Dios probó a Abraham. Le dijo: —Abraham. Éste respondió: —Aquí estoy.

And it came to pass after these things, that God did prove Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham. And he said, Here am I.

2 Y Dios le dijo: —Toma ahora a tu hijo, tu único, Isaac, a quien amas, vete a tierra de Moriah y ofrécelo allí en holocausto sobre uno de los montes que yo te diré.

And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son, whom thou lovest, even Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah. And offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

3 A braham se levantó muy de mañana, ensilló su asno, tomó consigo a dos de sus siervos y a Isaac, su hijo. Después cortó leña para el holocausto, se levantó y fue al lugar que Dios le había dicho.

And Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. And he clave the wood for the burnt-offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

4 A l tercer día alzó Abraham sus ojos y vio de lejos el lugar.

On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

5 E ntonces dijo Abraham a sus siervos: —Esperad aquí con el asno. Yo y el muchacho iremos hasta allá, adoraremos y volveremos a vosotros.

And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass, and I and the lad will go yonder; and we will worship, and come again to you.

6 T omó Abraham la leña del holocausto y la puso sobre Isaac, su hijo; luego tomó en su mano el fuego y el cuchillo y se fueron los dos juntos.

And Abraham took the wood of the burnt-offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. And they went both of them together.

7 D espués dijo Isaac a Abraham, su padre: —Padre mío. Él respondió: —Aquí estoy, hijo mío. Isaac le dijo: —Tenemos el fuego y la leña, pero ¿dónde está el cordero para el holocausto?

And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father. And he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold, the fire and the wood. But where is the lamb for a burnt-offering?

8 A braham respondió: —Dios proveerá el cordero para el holocausto, hijo mío. E iban juntos.

And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son. So they went both of them together.

9 C uando llegaron al lugar que Dios le había dicho, edificó allí Abraham un altar, compuso la leña, ató a Isaac, su hijo, y lo puso en el altar sobre la leña.

And they came to the place which God had told him of. And Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.

10 E xtendió luego Abraham su mano y tomó el cuchillo para degollar a su hijo.

And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11 E ntonces el ángel de Jehová lo llamó desde el cielo: —¡Abraham, Abraham! Él respondió: —Aquí estoy.

And the angel of Jehovah called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham. And he said, Here I am.

12 E l ángel le dijo: —No extiendas tu mano sobre el muchacho ni le hagas nada, pues ya sé que temes a Dios, por cuanto no me rehusaste a tu hijo, tu único hijo.

And he said, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him. For now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me.

13 E ntonces alzó Abraham sus ojos y vio a sus espaldas un carnero trabado por los cuernos en un zarzal; fue Abraham, tomó el carnero y lo ofreció en holocausto en lugar de su hijo.

And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt-offering in the stead of his son.

14 Y llamó Abraham a aquel lugar «Jehová proveerá.» Por tanto se dice hoy: «En el monte de Jehová será provisto.»

And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh. As it is said to this day, In the mount of Jehovah it shall be provided.

15 L lamó el ángel de Jehová a Abraham por segunda vez desde el cielo,

And the angel of Jehovah called unto Abraham a second time out of heaven,

16 y le dijo: —Por mí mismo he jurado, dice Jehová, que por cuanto has hecho esto y no me has rehusado a tu hijo, tu único hijo,

and said, By myself have I sworn, saith Jehovah, because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son,

17 d e cierto te bendeciré y multiplicaré tu descendencia como las estrellas del cielo y como la arena que está a la orilla del mar; tu descendencia se adueñará de las puertas de sus enemigos.

that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is upon the seashore. And thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.

18 E n tu simiente serán benditas todas las naciones de la tierra, por cuanto obedeciste a mi voz.

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. Because thou hast obeyed my voice.

19 R egresó Abraham adonde estaban sus siervos, y juntos se levantaron y se fueron a Beerseba. Y habitó Abraham en Beerseba.

So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba. And Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.

20 D espués de estas cosas se anunció a Abraham: «Milca ha dado a luz hijos a tu hermano Nacor:

And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she also hath borne children unto they brother Nahor.

21 U z, el primogénito; Buz, su hermano; Kemuel, padre de Aram;

Uz his first-born, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram.

22 Q uesed, Hazo, Pildas, Jidlaf y Betuel.»

And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.

23 B etuel fue el padre de Rebeca. Éstos son los ocho hijos que Milca dio a luz de Nacor, hermano de Abraham.

And Bethuel begat Rebekah. These eight did Milcah bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

24 Y su concubina, que se llamaba Reúma, dio a luz también a Teba, a Gaham, a Tahas y a Maaca.

And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she also bare Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maacah.
