1 E ntonces el profeta Eliseo llamó a uno de los hijos de los profetas y le dijo: «Ciñe tu cintura, toma esta redoma de aceite en tus manos y ve a Ramot de Galaad.

And Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this vial of oil in thy hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead.

2 C uando llegues allá, verás allí a Jehú hijo de Josafat hijo de Nimsi. Entra, haz que se levante de entre sus hermanos y llévalo a otra habitación.

And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber.

3 T oma luego la redoma de aceite, derrámala sobre su cabeza y di: “Así dice Jehová: Yo te he ungido como rey de Israel.” Entonces abre la puerta y echa a correr sin detenerte.»

Then take the vial of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith Jehovah, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.

4 P artió, pues, el joven profeta hacia Ramot de Galaad.

So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramoth-gilead.

5 C uando llegó, los jefes del ejército estaban reunidos. Entonces dijo: —Jefe, tengo que decirte una palabra. —¿A cuál de todos nosotros? —preguntó Jehú. —A ti, jefe —respondió el profeta.

And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of us all? And he said, To thee, O captain.

6 J ehú se levantó y entró en la casa. Entonces el otro derramó el aceite sobre su cabeza y le dijo: —Así dijo Jehová, Dios de Israel: “Yo te he ungido como rey del pueblo de Jehová, de Israel.

And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of Jehovah, even over Israel.

7 H erirás la casa de Acab, tu señor, para que yo vengue la sangre de mis siervos los profetas y la sangre de todos los siervos de Jehová, derramada por la mano de Jezabel.

And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Jehovah, at the hand of Jezebel.

8 T oda la casa de Acab perecerá y exterminaré a todo varón de Acab en Israel, tanto al siervo como al libre.

For the whole house of Ahab shall perish; and I will cut off from Ahab every man-child, and him that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel.

9 T rataré a la casa de Acab como a la casa de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat y como a la casa de Baasa hijo de Ahías.

And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah.

10 A Jezabel se la comerán los perros en el campo de Jezreel y no habrá quien la sepulte.” En seguida abrió la puerta y echó a correr.

And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.

11 C uando Jehú salió a reunirse con los siervos de su señor, estos le dijeron: —¿Todo va bien? ¿Para qué vino a verte ese loco? —Vosotros conocéis a ese hombre y lo que dijo —respondió él.

Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man and what his talk was.

12 — Mentira; cuéntanoslo ahora —dijeron ellos. Jehú respondió: —Esto y esto me ha hablado: “Así ha dicho Jehová: ‘Yo te he ungido como rey de Israel.’”

And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, I have anointed thee king over Israel.

13 E ntonces cada uno tomó apresuradamente su manto y lo puso debajo de Jehú en un trono alto. Luego tocaron la bocina y gritaron: «Jehú es el rey.» Jehú mata a Joram

Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew the trumpet, saying, Jehu is king.

14 A sí conspiró Jehú hijo de Josafat hijo de Nimsi, contra Joram. (Estaba entonces Joram defendiendo a Ramot de Galaad con todo Israel, a causa de Hazael, rey de Siria.

So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram was keeping Ramoth-gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria;

15 P ero el rey Joram había vuelto a Jezreel para curarse de las heridas que los sirios le habían hecho cuando peleaba contra Hazael, rey de Siria.) Y Jehú dijo: «Si ésta es vuestra voluntad, ninguno escape de la ciudad para ir a dar la noticia en Jezreel.»

but king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If this be your mind, then let none escape and go forth out of the city, to go to tell it in Jezreel.

16 J ehú cabalgó entonces y se fue a Jezreel, porque Joram estaba allí enfermo. También estaba allí Ocozías, rey de Judá, que había descendido a visitar a Joram.

So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.

17 E l atalaya que estaba en la torre de Jezreel vio la tropa de Jehú que venía, y dijo: —Veo una tropa. Joram dijo: —Ordena a un jinete que vaya a reconocerlos y les pregunte: “¿Vienen en son de paz?”

Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take a horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?

18 F ue, pues, el jinete a reconocerlos y les preguntó: —El rey dice: “¿Vienen en son de paz?” Jehú le dijo: —¿Qué tienes tú que ver con la paz? Ponte detrás de mí. Luego el atalaya avisó diciendo: —El mensajero llegó hasta ellos, pero no vuelve.

So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not back.

19 E ntonces el rey envió otro jinete, que al llegar adonde estaban ellos, dijo: —El rey dice así: “¿Vienen en son de paz?” Y Jehú respondió: —¿Qué tienes tú que ver con la paz? Ponte detrás de mí.

Then he sent out a second on horseback, who came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.

20 E l atalaya volvió a decir: —También éste llegó hasta ellos, pero no vuelve, y el marchar del que viene es como el marchar de Jehú hijo de Nimsi, pues viene impetuosamente.

And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not back: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.

21 E ntonces dijo Joram: —Unce el carro. Cuando estaba uncido su carro, salieron Joram, rey de Israel, y Ocozías, rey de Judá, cada uno en su carro, y partieron al encuentro de Jehú, al cual hallaron en la heredad de Nabot, el de Jezreel.

And Joram said, Make ready. And they made ready his chariot. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out to meet Jehu, and found him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.

22 C uando vio Joram a Jehú, dijo: —¿Vienes en son paz, Jehú? Él respondió: —¿Qué paz puede haber con las fornicaciones de Jezabel, tu madre, y sus muchas hechicerías?

And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?

23 E ntonces Joram volvió las riendas y huyó, mientras le gritaba a Ocozías: —¡Traición, Ocozías!

And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah.

24 P ero Jehú tensó su arco e hirió a Joram por la espalda; la flecha le atravesó el corazón y él cayó en su carro.

And Jehu drew his bow with his full strength, and smote Joram between his arms; and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.

25 D ijo luego Jehú a Bidcar, su capitán: «Levántalo y échalo a un extremo de la heredad de Nabot, el de Jezreel. Acuérdate que cuando tú y yo íbamos juntos con la gente de Acab, su padre, Jehová pronunció esta sentencia sobre él:

Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite; for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, Jehovah laid this burden upon him:

26 “ Yo he visto ayer la sangre de Nabot y la sangre de sus hijos, dijo Jehová, y en esta misma heredad te daré tu paga, dijo Jehová.” Levántalo pues, ahora, y échalo en la heredad de Nabot, conforme a la palabra de Jehová.» Jehú mata a Ocozías

Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith Jehovah; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith Jehovah. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the word of Jehovah.

27 A l ver esto Ocozías, rey de Judá, huyó por el camino de la casa del huerto. Pero Jehú lo persiguió diciendo: «Herid también a este que va en el carro.» Lo hirieron a la subida de Gur, junto a Ibleam. Pero Ocozías huyó a Meguido, y allí murió.

But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden-house. And Jehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot: and they smote him at the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.

28 S us siervos lo llevaron en un carro a Jerusalén y allá lo sepultaron con sus padres, en su sepulcro de la ciudad de David.

And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.

29 E n el undécimo año de Joram hijo de Acab comenzó a reinar Ocozías sobre Judá. Muerte de Jezabel

And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah.

30 D espués se fue Jehú a Jezreel. Al enterarse Jezabel, se pintó los ojos con antimonio, atavió su cabeza y se asomó a una ventana.

And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her eyes, and attired her head, and looked out at the window.

31 Y cuando entraba Jehú por la puerta, ella dijo: —¿Todo le va bien a Zimri, asesino de su señor?

And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Is it peace, thou Zimri, thy master's murderer?

32 A lzó él entonces su rostro hacia la ventana y dijo: —¿Quién está conmigo? ¿quién? Se inclinaron hacia él dos o tres eunucos.

And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.

33 Y Jehú les ordenó: —Echadla abajo. Ellos la echaron, y parte de su sangre salpicó la pared y los caballos. Y él la atropelló.

And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down; and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trod her under foot.

34 E ntró luego Jehú, y después que comió y bebió, dijo: —Id ahora a ver a aquella maldita y sepultadla, pues es hija de rey.

And when he was come in, he did eat and drink; and he said, See now to this cursed woman, and bury her; for she is a king's daughter.

35 P ero cuando fueron a sepultarla no hallaron de ella más que la calavera, los pies y las palmas de las manos.

And they went to bury her; but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.

36 E ntonces regresaron a comunicárselo. Y él dijo: —Ésta es la palabra que Dios pronunció por medio de su siervo Elías, el tisbita: “En la heredad de Jezreel se comerán los perros las carnes de Jezabel.

Wherefore they came back, and told him. And he said, This is the word of Jehovah, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel;

37 E l cuerpo de Jezabel será como estiércol sobre la superficie del campo en la heredad de Jezreel, de manera que nadie pueda decir: ‘Ésta es Jezabel.’”

and the body of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
