1 A lso machte David seinen Sohn Salomo zum König über Israel, da er alt und des Lebens satt war.

Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

2 U nd David versammelte alle Obersten in Israel und die Priester und Leviten.

And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

3 U nd man zählte die Leviten von dreißig Jahren und darüber; und ihre Zahl war von Haupt zu Haupt, was Männer waren, achtunddreißigtausend.

And the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.

4 " Aus diesen sollen vierundzwanzigtausend dem Werk am Hause des HERRN vorstehen und sechstausend Amtleute und Richter sein

Of these, twenty and four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Jehovah; and six thousand were officers and judges;

5 u nd viertausend Torhüter und viertausend Lobsänger des HERRN mit Saitenspielen, die ich gemacht habe, Lob zu singen."

and four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

6 U nd David machte Ordnungen unter den Kindern Levi, nämlich unter Gerson, Kahath und Merari.

And David divided them into courses according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

7 D ie Gersoniter waren: Laedan und Simei.

Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.

8 D ie Kinder Laedans: der erste, Jehiel, Setham und Joel, die drei.

The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

9 D ie Kinder Simeis waren: Salomith, Hasiel und Haran, die drei. Diese waren die Häupter der Vaterhäuser von Laedan.

The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers' houses of Ladan.

10 U nd diese waren Simeis Kinder: Jahath, Sina, Jeus und Beria. Diese vier waren Simeis Kinder.

And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

11 J ahath aber war der erste, Sina der andere. Aber Jeus und Beria hatten nicht Kinder; darum wurden sie für ein Vaterhaus gerechnet.

And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they became a fathers' house in one reckoning.

12 D ie Kinder Kahaths waren: Amram, Jizhar, Hebron und Usiel, die vier.

The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

13 D ie Kinder Amrams waren: Aaron und Mose. Aaron aber ward abgesondert, daß er geheiligt würde zum Hochheiligen, er und seine Söhne ewiglich, zu räuchern vor dem HERRN und zu dienen und zu segnen in dem Namen des HERRN ewiglich.

The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, for ever, to burn incense before Jehovah, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, for ever.

14 U nd Mose's, des Mannes Gottes, Kinder wurden genannt unter der Leviten Stamm.

But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.

15 D ie Kinder aber Mose's waren: Gersom und Elieser.

The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.

16 D ie Kinder Gersoms: der erste war Sebuel.

The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief.

17 D ie Kinder Eliesers: der erste war Rehabja. Und Elieser hatte keine andern Kinder; aber der Kinder Ehabjas waren überaus viele.

And the sons of Eliezer were: Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

18 D ie Kinder Jizhars waren: Salomith, der erste.

The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief.

19 D ie Kinder Hebrons waren: Jeria, der erste; Amarja, der zweite; Jahasiel, der dritte; und Jakmeam, der vierte.

The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

20 D ie Kinder Usiels waren, Micha, der erste, und Jissia, der andere.

The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.

21 D ie Kinder Meraris waren: Maheli und Musi. Die Kinder Mahelis waren: Eleasar und Kis.

The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

22 E leasar aber starb und hatte keine Söhne, sondern Töchter; und die Kinder des Kis, ihre Brüder, nahmen sie.

And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them to wife.

23 D ie Kinder Musis waren: Maheli, Eder und Jeremoth, die drei.

The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

24 D as sind die Kinder Levi nach ihren Vaterhäusern, nämlich die Häupter der Vaterhäuser, die gerechnet wurden nach der Namen Zahl von Haupt zu Haupt, welche taten das Geschäft des Amts im Hause des HERRN, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.

These were the sons of Levi after their fathers' houses, even the heads of the fathers' houses of those of them that were counted, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the house of Jehovah, from twenty years old and upward.

25 D enn David sprach: Der HERR, der Gott Israels, hat seinem Volk Ruhe gegeben und wird zu Jerusalem wohnen ewiglich.

For David said, Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath given rest unto his people; and he dwelleth in Jerusalem for ever:

26 S o wurden auch die Kinder Levi gezählt von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, da sie ja die Wohnung nicht mehr zu tragen hatten mit all ihrem Geräte ihres Amts,

and also the Levites shall no more have need to carry the tabernacle and all the vessels of it for the service thereof.

27 s ondern nach den letzten Worten Davids,

For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered, from twenty years old and upward.

28 d aß sie stehen sollten unter der Hand der Kinder Aaron, zu dienen im Hause des HERRN in den Vorhöfen und Kammern und zur Reinigung von allerlei Heiligem und zu allem Werk des Amts im Hause Gottes

For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God;

29 u nd zum Schaubrot, zum Semmelmehl für das Speisopfer, zu den ungesäuerten Fladen, zur Pfanne, zum Rösten und zu allem Gewicht und Maß

for the showbread also, and for the fine flour for a meal-offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all manner of measure and size;

30 u nd zu stehen des Morgens, zu danken und zu loben den HERRN, und des Abends auch also,

and to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah, and likewise at even;

31 u nd alle Brandopfer dem HERRN zu opfern auf die Sabbate, Neumonde und Feste, nach der Zahl und Gebühr allewege vor dem HERRN,

and to offer all burnt-offerings unto Jehovah, on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Jehovah;

32 d aß sie des Dienstes an der Hütte des Stifts warteten und des Heiligtums und der Kinder Aaron, ihrer Brüder, zu dienen im Hause des HERRN.

and that they should keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, for the service of the house of Jehovah.
