1 A demás respondió Jehová a Job, y dijo:

Moreover Jehovah answered Job, and said,

2 ¿ Contenderá el discutidor con el Omnipotente? El que disputa con Dios, responda a esto.

Shall he that cavilleth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it.

3 E ntonces respondió Job a Jehová, y dijo:

Then Job answered Jehovah, and said,

4 H e aquí que yo soy vil; ¿qué te responderé? Mi mano pongo sobre mi boca.

Behold, I am of small account; What shall I answer thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.

5 U na vez hablé, mas no responderé; Aun dos veces, mas no volveré a hablar. Manifestaciones del poder de Dios

Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.

6 R espondió Jehová a Job desde el torbellino, y dijo:

Then Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

7 C íñete ahora, como un luchador, tus lomos; Yo te preguntaré, y tú me responderás.

Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

8 ¿ Invalidarás tú también mi juicio? ¿Me condenarás a mí, para justificarte tú?

Wilt thou even annul my judgment? Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be justified?

9 ¿ Tienes tú un brazo como el de Dios? ¿Y truenas con voz como la suya?

Or hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

10 A dórnate ahora de majestad y de alteza, Y vístete de honra y de hermosura.

Deck thyself now with excellency and dignity; And array thyself with honor and majesty.

11 D errama el ardor de tu ira; Mira a todo altivo, y abátelo.

Pour forth the overflowings of thine anger; And look upon every one that is proud, and abase him.

12 M ira a todo soberbio, y humíllalo, Y quebranta a los impíos en su sitio.

Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; And tread down the wicked where they stand.

13 H úndelos a todos en el polvo, Encierra sus rostros en la oscuridad;

Hide them in the dust together; Bind their faces in the hidden place.

14 Y yo mismo te confesaré Que podrá salvarte tu diestra.

Then will I also confess of thee That thine own right hand can save thee.

15 H e aquí ahora el hipopótamo, el cual hice como a ti; Hierba come como el buey.

Behold now, behemoth, which I made as well as thee; He eateth grass as an ox.

16 M ira que su fuerza está en sus lomos, Y su vigor en los músculos de su vientre.

Lo now, his strength is in his loins, And his force is in the muscles of his belly.

17 A tiesa su cola como un cedro, Los nervios de sus genitales están entretejidos;

He moveth his tail like a cedar: The sinews of his thighs are knit together.

18 S us huesos son fuertes como bronce, Y sus costillas como barras de hierro.

His bones are as tubes of brass; His limbs are like bars of iron.

19 É l es una obra maestra de Dios; Sólo el que lo hizo, puede acercarle la espada.

He is the chief of the ways of God: He only that made him giveth him his sword.

20 C iertamente los montes producen hierba para él; Y toda bestia del campo retoza allá.

Surely the mountains bring him forth food, Where all the beasts of the field do play.

21 S e recuesta bajo los lotos, En lo oculto de las cañas y de los lugares húmedos.

He lieth under the lotus-trees, In the covert of the reed, and the fen.

22 L os árboles sombríos lo cubren con su sombra; Los sauces del arroyo lo rodean.

The lotus-trees cover him with their shade; The willows of the brook compass him about.

23 H e aquí, sale de madre el río, pero él no se inmuta; Tranquilo está, aunque todo un Jordán se estrelle contra su boca.

Behold, if a river overflow, he trembleth not; He is confident, though a Jordan swell even to his mouth.

24 ¿ Lo tomará alguno cuando está vigilante, Y horadará su nariz?

Shall any take him when he is on the watch, Or pierce through his nose with a snare?
