1 L evantando los ojos, vio a unos ricos que echaban sus ofrendas en el arca del tesoro.

And he looked up, and saw the rich men that were casting their gifts into the treasury.

2 Y vio también a una viuda pobre, que echaba allí dos moneditas.

And he saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

3 Y dijo: En verdad os digo, que esta viuda pobre echó más que todos.

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than they all:

4 P orque todos ellos echaron para las ofrendas de Dios de lo que les sobra; mas ésta, de su pobreza echó todo el sustento que tenía. Jesucristo predice la destrucción del templo

for all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had.

5 Y al decir algunos acerca del templo que estaba adornado de hermosas piedras y ofrendas votivas, dijo:

And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and offerings, he said,

6 D e esto que estáis contemplando, días vendrán en que no quedará piedra sobre piedra, que no sea derribada.

As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

7 Y le preguntaron, diciendo: Maestro, ¿cuándo será esto?; ¿y qué señal habrá cuando estas cosas estén a punto de suceder?

And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when these things are about to come to pass?

8 É l entonces dijo: Mirad que no seáis engañados; porque vendrán muchos en mi nombre, diciendo: Yo soy el Cristo, y: El tiempo está cerca. Mas no vayáis en pos de ellos.

And he said, Take heed that ye be not led astray: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he; and, The time is at hand: go ye not after them.

9 Y cuando oigáis de guerras y de sediciones, no os alarméis; porque es necesario que estas cosas acontezcan primero; pero el fin no será inmediatamente.

And when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified: for these things must needs come to pass first; but the end is not immediately.

10 E ntonces les dijo: Se levantará nación contra nación, y reino contra reino;

Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom;

11 y habrá grandes terremotos en diferentes lugares, hambres y pestilencias; y habrá terror y grandes señales del cielo.

and there shall be great earthquakes, and in divers places famines and pestilences; and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven.

12 P ero antes de todas estas cosas os echarán mano, os perseguirán, y os entregarán a las sinagogas y a las cárceles, y seréis llevados ante reyes y ante gobernadores por causa de mi nombre.

But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name's sake.

13 Y esto os será ocasión para dar testimonio.

It shall turn out unto you for a testimony.

14 P roponed en vuestros corazones no preparar de antemano vuestra defensa;

Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer:

15 p orque yo os daré palabras y sabiduría, a la cual no podrán contradecir ni resistir todos los que se os opongan.

for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay.

16 P ero seréis entregados aun por vuestros padres, y hermanos, y parientes, y amigos; y matarán a algunos de vosotros;

But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

17 y seréis aborrecidos por todos a causa de mi nombre.

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

18 P ero ni un cabello de vuestra cabeza perecerá.

And not a hair of your head shall perish.

19 C on vuestra paciencia ganaréis vuestras almas.

In your patience ye shall win your souls.

20 P ero cuando veáis a Jerusalén rodeada de ejércitos, sabed entonces que su desolación ha llegado.

But when ye see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand.

21 E ntonces los que estén en Judea, huyan a los montes; y los que en medio de ella, váyanse; y los que estén en los campos, no entren en ella.

Then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains; and let them that are in the midst of her depart out; and let not them that are in the country enter therein.

22 P orque éstos son días de venganza, para que se cumplan todas las cosas que están escritas.

For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

23 M as ¡ay de las que estén encintas, y de las que críen en aquellos días!, porque habrá gran calamidad en la tierra, e ira contra este pueblo.

Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people.

24 Y caerán a filo de espada, y serán llevados cautivos a todas las naciones; y Jerusalén será pisoteada por los gentiles, hasta que los tiempos de los gentiles se cumplan. La venida del Hijo del Hombre

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

25 Y habrá señales en el sol, en la luna y en las estrellas, y sobre la tierra angustia de las gentes, perplejas a causa del bramido del mar y de las olas;

And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows;

26 d esmayándose los hombres por el temor y la expectación de las cosas que sobrevendrán en la tierra; porque los poderes de los cielos serán conmovidos.

men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.

27 E ntonces verán al Hijo del Hombre, que vendrá en una nube con poder y gran gloria.

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

28 C uando estas cosas comiencen a suceder, erguíos y levantad vuestra cabeza, porque vuestra redención está cerca.

But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draweth nigh.

29 T ambién les dijo una parábola: Mirad la higuera y todos los árboles.

And he spake to them a parable: Behold the fig tree, and all the trees:

30 C uando ya brotan, viéndolo, sabéis por vosotros mismos que el verano está ya cerca.

when they now shoot forth, ye see it and know of your own selves that the summer is now nigh.

31 A sí también vosotros, cuando veáis que suceden estas cosas, sabed que está cerca el reino de Dios.

Even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh.

32 D e cierto os digo, que no pasará esta generación hasta que todo esto acontezca.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished.

33 E l cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras de ningún modo pasarán.

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

34 E stad alerta por vosotros mismos, no sea que vuestros corazones se carguen de libertinaje y embriaguez y de las preocupaciones de esta vida, y venga de repente sobre vosotros aquel día.

But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare:

35 P orque como un lazo vendrá sobre todos los que habitan sobre la faz de toda la tierra.

for so shall it come upon all them that dwell on the face of all the earth.

36 V elad, pues, en todo tiempo orando que seáis tenidos por dignos de escapar de todas estas cosas que vendrán, y de estar en pie delante del Hijo del Hombre.

But watch ye at every season, making supplication, that ye may prevail to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

37 Y enseñaba de día en el templo; y salía a pasar las noches en el monte que se llama de los Olivos.

And every day he was teaching in the temple; and every night he went out, and lodged in the mount that is called Olivet.

38 Y todo el pueblo venía a él de madrugada, para oírle en el templo.

And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.
